Janet McConnell Custom Hair Design

She gave me fantastic color and the cut I’ve been looking for! We discussed my disappointment with former experiences with other stylists, and I felt she really listened. She had me shake my head to see how my hair falls. She ended up cutting my hair wet and dry, which was a plus because it acts so differently when it dries. Right away she identified my problem areas. My color needed some expert advice, and she and I discussed her approach. She uses great products and I couldn’t be happier! Her prices were very reasonable, too!

Not sure why everybody thinks she such a good hair dresser. After getting a bad haircut I thought she would help but after giving her two chances to correct, she made my original bad haircut even worse.
I think if you have long hair she would do a good job, but she doesn’t point cut; she just uses a straight cut or razor. Not really good on short straight hair. After my last haircut I noticed a distinct line which I mentioned to her, she just fluffed it up and said don’t worry about it. Two months later I still have the line, but I found a great hairdresser to replace her.

I went to Janet last Friday for the first time. I had been having trouble with my last hairdresser not knowing what I wanted. After a short consultation Janet pointed out the problem areas and seemed to know what I wanted. After battling my hair for months I told Janet to do what she felt was necessary to achieve the look I wanted. I love, love, love my new hair cut.
I waited until I had washed my hair to write this review. I wanted to see if I could achieve any where close to the original look. I am pleased that even with me blowing it dry it looks great. If you are looking for someone that will listen to you and explain not only the cut, but the best way to dry the hair to get the look you want, Janet is your hairdresser.

I recently moved here from Phoenix and have been in desperate need of a knowledgeable hairdresser. Janet is great! I appreciate her frankness and color & cut came out wonderful. I definitely was concerned because I come from a family of hairdressers and moved away from them. I’m looking forward to my next appointment.

We moved to Prescott from SoCal a year ago and the first thing I did was look for a hair stylist/​colorist. I found Janet on Unilocal,had a consultation, made an appointment and have been happy ever since. As others have mentioned, she listens, makes suggestions, and goes to work. Both my cuts and colors have been totally on point and I am a satisfied and loyal customer. Janet is available via phone and text, is on time for your appointments, and her prices are extremely reasonable. Highly recommend.

I’m temporarily staying in Prescott, AZ to be near my mother, who lives in an Alzheimer’s facility here. I was overdue for a haircut but leery of letting an unknown stylist cut my hair which is short and naturally curly. A bad cut is a bad cut and there’s nothing to do but wear a hat.
Thank heaven, I found Janet! She gave me a perfect haircut — maybe one of the best I’ve ever had in my life.

I am so happy to have found Janet! She patiently listened to what I was hoping to achieve and was able to create EXACTLY the color of red I have been struggling to achieve. NO «hot roots»! NO burning scalp! Two problems I have had to deal with in the past. Even though Prescott is our 2^nd home I will be traveling there each month so Janet can do my hair!

One of the most difficult things about moving to a new place is finding a good hair stylist. Before meeting Janet, I would go to an «expert» stylist at Dolce or Toni & Guy in Phoenix. Sometimes I would be happy with the haircut; sometimes not. Janet is more experienced, more talented, and more of an expert hair stylist… and charges half of what I used to pay for the «experts» in Phoenix. Both my boyfriend and I are so thankful to have found Janet! She listens to what we are thinking about our hair styles and discusses with us what she believes is the best way for her to cut our hair in order to achieve those results. Every time she cuts our hair, we are happy with the cut and how she styles it. Plus, she is really nice, super friendly, and just an overall great person. :)
A bad haircut is like having to wear an outfit you hate every day. We never have to worry about that with Janet’s haircuts. :)

I’ve been visiting Janet to have my hair cut and colored for the last nine months (since April 2011) and prior to that I would actually go to Vegas to get my hair looked after because I simply hadn’t found anyone local who could deal with my hair in a way which made me happy.
Janet is friendly and easy to talk to which means a visit with her is always enjoyable and she has her own space within the Superlative Day Spa and Salon. When I first went to see her I wanted to create and maintain a style over several visits and she always kept things consistent (unlike some stylists who can never create the same look twice!), however she is also always receptive to new ideas and styles when you want to change things up a bit. She will talk though an idea with you and clearly communicate possibilities or limitations with what you want and then work with you to get your hair to that design, which is awesome. The last few times I’ve seen her, we’ve done something completely different each visit and the results have always been perfect. In addition, the color she uses (Framesi) is incredibly gentle compared so some other salon products I’ve had used on my hair, so I’ve never had any problems with drying or brittleness even after bleaching.
I totally recommend Janet and her work — in fact, almost every time I leave her chair I get stopped in the street and complimented on the awesome job she did: D
