Animal education and positive interactions with animals, both domesticated and exotic. Our main products are educational presentations, petting zoos, and pony rides for private and public events, as well as week-​long summer camps on the farm.

History

Established in 2005.

Cathy’s Critters was founded on the idea that our pets might bring joy to kids and other families in the DFW area the same way that they bring joy to their own family, that of Cathy & Kevin Smith.

We have delighted thousands of parents, children, preschools and churches in the DFW area and we were nominated by D Magazine’s Reader’s Choice survey as one of the best children’s entertainers in Dallas.

In 2010 we held our first summer camp, which has grown to five 1-​week sessions as of 2013, and we predict that it will get bigger every year. Kids learn about farm life through animal care, goat milking, crafts, and games.

Last year, we opened up the farm for on-​site birthday parties with our new activity building and lots of options for entertainment and education about animals, both farm and exotic.

We also provide a field trip, in partnership with «Fun On The Farm», the Farm Museum, and Myers Park and Event Center in McKinney.

Meet the Business Owner

Cathy S.

Business Owner

Cathy is the founder and namesake of Cathy’s Critters. A degreed zoologist, she has been an animal lover and protector from a very young age when she encouraged the first dog to follow her home.

She conceived of the idea of bringing her pets to the public in early 2005 and since then has designed feeding and care programs for all the species that she keeps. Her current jobs in the business are Head Curator (keeps the animals healthy and designs teaching material for presentations) and Customer Fulfillment Manager (oversees the delivery of programs to our clients).
