*Haircut* There are no words to explain how disappointed in this place I am. I walked in with my husband, him asking if he can have a haircut immediately, since we were in a rush. They said yes. We’ve been there for an hour and the hairdresser was not even half done. She was super slow and not dong what my husband wanted. Because we had to leave she told him to come back tomorrow to finish him up. He spent another hour there, and the product was just horrible. This place charges A LOT of money, but their skills are poor — like with many American places if you compare them with European standard-​it is just lower. but for this price, it is outrageous that you get such a poor hairstyle. His hair looked like she was using nail clipper to cut it. This places looks good on the outside, they treat you well, serve drinks, but you don’t need that when you go to a salon. You just need a nice haircut and you will not get that here.

I’ve been a loyal customer at Metropolis for six years, largely because the stylist who cuts my hair does a fine job and is a sweet person. Overall, though, the place feels poorly and indifferently managed. The greeting at the front desk when you arrive can be surly.
But today I break my neck to get to my appointment on time. They check me in, I put on a smock to get washed before getting a cut. And then they tell me that my stylist is running 40 minutes behind.
They couldn’t have called? I’m done with this place.

Left work early to be able to make to my appointment. When I arrived for the 2^nd time I am told that the person to cut and color my hair was not there. Though I got a confirmatory message on my mobile and another on my e-​mail they could not reach me on my home number.
I believe Metropolis customer service is nonexistent and unthoughtful!

I love coming here for my hair — Silva is just amazing. I get highlights and a cut, and my hair has never been so healthy. I also love the specials and have come in for a few special treatments. Still need to try the spa, I hear great things! I guess my only issue is the pricing, HOWEVER we are getting city– quality talent & product with the convenience & space of a Princeton location, so I do get it. And you can see that they are using the cash well, as their stylists are well-​trained (Silva is certified for Living Proof and also does hair for NY fashion week). You do get what you pay for here!

This used to be my favorite spa, one that I had frequented for over a decade. Unfortunately something has gone terribly wrong and the service is severely lacking. Booked two appointments for myself and a girlfriend a few months ago, confirmed at booking and the day before the appointment only to be told the day of that they only booked one appointment so we had to wait an extra half hour. Was further aggravated by service staff attempting to solicit me when I was checking out. I go to the spa to relax, not to be bombarded with sales. Would have given them another chance if it weren’t for the fact that they left me on hold for 10 minutes today when I called to schedule an appointment. For a luxury spa in Princeton one would expect better customer service. Too bad, so sad that I will be saying adiós to what used to be my go-​to spa and salon. You have lost a longtime, faithful client with your ineptitude at client centric service.

What Princeton lacks in fun, its makes up for in their leisure. This is by far the best spa in central jersey. No matter who you choose or what package you get, you wont be sorry. To me a spa is more than just the massage or facial itself, its the entire expirence. Upon walking into the basement, you are relaxed instantly and attended too with a footbath, granola, and of course lemon/​cucumber water.
It gets 4 stars because the price could be better, but then again you get your quality with this price.

Tuyen is the best anywhere for eyebrow waxing!

The place is beautiful. I was there once a long time ago, I stopped in about 6 weeks ago looking for a new cut. I had in my head what I wanted I told the stylist, I think her name was toni but I guess the lines of communication were blurred. What she did looked nice when I left and she gave a very nice blow out. Although it wasn’t what I was looking to get it was a nice change. But then I washed it the next day and it wasn’t so nice without her blow out that hid the flaws. She was a very sweet girl, maybe she’s still going to beauty school. Would not recommend her for a cut but would strongly recommend her for a blow out. All in all I would go back, I just might ask for a different stylist.

Katye is the best she has been cutting my hair since I was 12 and I don’t trust anyone else with it. I recently had balayage done (after not having my hair dyed since high school) and she did an amazing job. The shampooing is the best when they take their time and really give you a nice scalp massage, if you’re early for your appointment you’re more likely to have a better shampoo experience.
Yan and Emma are both great for waxing, but I never have my nails done here because its too expensive. The waxing is also a little bit on the pricey side.

I’m pretty surprised people gave negative reviews about service – I’ve been going since 2001 and people working at desk are always on the ball and attentive. No attitude. I’ve seen Katye for years for cut&color and she is amazing. I’ve never had a bad haircut or color here. I’ve also seen Pam when Katye was fully booked and she was fantastic. I like that they require the same schooling/​training for everyone there.

I don’t come to Metropolis for their hair stylists, I usually go to have my eyebrows waxed, but this review is about my first facial with Tuyen.
When arriving, you check in at the front desk. I’ve never had an issue with the people at the front. I let them know what I’m here for, they give you a slip of paper, which you take with you & head to the spa, which is downstairs.
When you enter, it’s a dimly lit living room type space. Serene music is playing & tea, water, fruit, & cookies are displayed to help yourself to. There’s staff that come by to replenish these goodies & take away dirty dishes/​glasses.
After sitting there a few minutes, a member of the staff takes my slip of paper & leads me back to the dressing room where I slip on a robe & slippers. I return to the waiting room & the aesthetician, Tuyen, comes to escort me from the waiting room to the room where I’ll be having my facial. It’s a small room, but you don’t need a lot of space to do a facial. I slip into the warm bed & the facial begins.
Tuyen explains to me what she’s doing, if the steam is too much, I just her know & she pulls it back a bit. I haven’t had a facial since last year, so Tuyen did as much extracting as she could, but recommend I come back in about 8 weeks so we can finish off whatever she couldn’t do today due to the time constraint. After we were done, she said it would take a couple days before I could see the results of the facial. I was provided with some samples of products that I should use & returned to the dressing room to change out of my robe & slippers.
I’ve been to Tuyen for eyebrow waxing & she’s very maticulous & does a great job. This is the first time I’ve gone to her for a facila & she’s just as maticulous & isn’t pushy about products, just makes recommendations. My skin after about 3 days looked really good, the bumps I had around my jaw line were significantly less. I’ll definitely be going back in 8 weeks & probably many more times in the future.

Woman provides no details or explanation, just rights down a number and tells me to fill out a sheet.
Really? There are plenty of spas in the area where I won’t be treated like dirt when I’m looking to drop $ 200+ on a gift.

Jade is gone but I went there regardless because I had a credit…
I have to say the cut was a 2 star, nothing special.
I really wish I would’ve gotten Jade’s information before she left.

The service is very mediocre and most of the treatments are overpriced. If you’re going there for the first time expect to NOT be told where to go or to be assisted in a helpful manner. The reason I continue to go back is for Silva, she gives great haircuts and is incredibly sweet and amicable.
I also go to Metropolis, out of convenience, for brazilian waxes. I would recommend Mikayla and highly NOT recommend Yan (maybe it was An).

Meh. I’ve experienced better.
All the stylist that I used either left Metropolis or set up their own salons. Frankly, it is very hard to find a good stylist and I do not want to be a guinea pig as I was butchered recently a lot around Princeton high end establishments. I dropped several stylists at Metropolis who charged for 45 minutes or one hour cut, but actually spent about 15 minutes.

If you ever need a haircut, go to Pam. Pam is magical. Since moving to Chicago from Bucks County, I’ve tried several other hairstylists but none have matched up to Pam. So rather than keep rolling the dice hoping for someone to give me a great cut, I’ve stuck with Pam. Yes, call me crazy, but I only get my hair cut while I’m home visiting my family. It’s not too bad since I visit several times a year, but still! That attests to how fabulous she is. I’ve gotten my hair cut all types of ways — short short, bob, trim, and all have been great. They way you know a good hairstylist is how your hair looks in between haircuts, not just right after. Pam gives you a cut that you can grow into without any awkward stages. A haircut with Pam runs about $ 70, but it’s worth it!

Decent service but very overpriced. The last time I was there I paid $ 400 for a wash, cut, color, and highlights. The process took 4 hours, too. Yesterday, a good friend of mine got her regular $ 90 haircut there and her stylist (same guy she always has) cut her hair so crookedly that she now has to go back to have it fixed.
It’s definitely possible to get equivalent service for about half the price.

To this day, the best massage experiences I’ve ever had (and I’ve gotten massages in several places since).
What really sets Metropolis Spa apart from the rest is the incredibly comfortable, inviting and relaxing atmosphere once you’re in the massage area. There is plenty of room to sit, sip tea and relax. There’s a separate locker space to put your clothes and also to take a shower. I wish more places had this approach to massages, after all, it’s about the experience as a whole, not just the massage itself that matters.
