Great service! Go here frequently for brunch, short wait time if busy, friendly staff! Very attentive w refilling the coffee, very important for me:)

I love this place. We were on an after Christmas shopping trip to Louisville and made it our first stop. I had the Verbena Benedict and the Verbena Browns and they were both excellent. As we were there on a week day, the place wasn’t too crowded although it was a bit loud even so. The place was a bit chilly but probably just because our table was right inside the door. The service as per usual was fast and friendly, just great. This remains one of our favorite places in Louisville.

This is a great place to meet up with friends, sitting down with your family or having 1v1 time with your significant other. I absolutely adore Verbena. They have exciting food options and great service.
It’s also nice to see and feel the sense of community when eating at verbena.
You go to verbena for the good service, sense of community and awesome food options. If you don’t want to spend $ 4 on orange juice or $ 10 on eggs Benedict, than I suggest you go to Waffle House. Or look at the menu before you commit to eating there. It’s not overly expensive but it isn’t waffle-​house-​cheap either.

I met a friend here for lunch and I can’t wait to go back.
The food was wonderful. I had the hot ham and cheese, and picked the salad for a side. There were so many choices for main options and for sides. I’d love to come back lunch and to try their breakfast offerings.
The environment was really bright, warm and friendly — a great place to meet someone for a good meal. It doesn’t hurt that it’s located a cute part of Norton Commons, with plenty of street parking.

Stopped in during Christmas shopping and so glad I did! Love breakfast and was able to have it for lunch.
Garden omelet, Verbena hash browns and a yummy little cheese roll was brought out in timely manner.
My server, Craig, was very pleasant and made sure my food was prepared well and my Diet Coke stayed filled.
Atmosphere is light, airy and perfect for breakfast and lunch conversations among friends.

This place is amazing. Anyone who lives in Norton Commons or beyond should embrace this place. Nice environment, pet friendly on the terrace for local morning walkers. Lori the owner is lovely. Best brunch in Louisville.

Food — ⁴⁄₅ — love their menu, just haven’t always loved everything I’ve ordered and that’s perfectly fine. They have a great selection of well portioned meals with farm fresh ingredients, and a wide array of choices. Coffees, teas, breakfast/​brunch menu is the only one I’ve eaten from but I’d be curious about their lunch/​dinner menu too, but I really like this places.

I was very disappointed in my meal. I ordered the Bacon Gouda Hamburger. Instead of being cooked to medium as I ordered, it was well done and the outer edges were even crispy. It was dressed with a huge leaf of lettuce and a tomato slice that was so unripe it was not even pink but closer to white in color. I had just been to the grocery so I know better looking tomatoes are available. The fries, on the other hand, had no color and crispness at all. We did have excellent service.

What a wonderful environment. The atmosphere is an average chatty of friends and family enjoying a great breakfast. I had the Banana Nut Bread French Toast, boy was it good and filling! Also had a side of bacon and eggs scrambled with cheese, that I split with my son.
This marked my 4^th trip here since I’ve heard of this little charming establishment.
Service has been friendly and quick.

Prepared to hold an amble amount of delicious corned beef. A side of fresh hash browns perfectly cooked.

Brunch with the family. I had the Steak Skillet which was excellent and filling. Only minor complaint was that the skillet itself was too small to fit all the food. That made it challenging to cut the steak and get a good bite.

I visited Verbena today to grab a salad for lunch on my way back to the office after a doctors appointment. I ordered the grilled chicken caesar salad and am completely disappointed in the quality of the chicken that they used. It had the texture and tasted like a processed chicken breast with some kind of seasoning embedded in it. For a salad that cost over $ 10 I would expect a fresh prepared piece of real chicken on my plate.
The girl that waited on me at the counter was very pleasant and checked my order for accuracy and made sure the warm chicken was in a separate container as to not make the lettuce wilted, so thumbs up to her!
I have had lunch there before and had a sandwich which was good but would just consider it average. This place has a ton of character and I love Norton Commons just wish they would set themselves apart and give quality food to their customers.

Brunch at verbena this morning, the Belgian waffle platter with eggs and sausage was delicious! Nice place in Norton commons highly recommend !

The food is always Fantastic! The service has always been great. Then pancakes blow Wild Eggs out of the water. And the Potato Pancakes are some of the best I’ve ever had. Thing is it’s not a secret how good Verbena is so get there early on the weekends.

We love this restaurant. The food is always really good and the bright interior is always refreshing.

Verbena Café has a varied menu with something for almost everyone’s desires. They are only open for breakfast and lunch so keep that in mind before you decide to drive to Norton Commons to dine here. I usually order the pumpkin bread French toast and it is always fantastic. They have a large selection of egg dishes, burgers, sandwiches, soups and salads too. I highly recommend that you give it a try. You will not be disappointed.

This restaurant has the distinction of the worst coffee I have ever tasted. Sadly even Waffle House has better coffee.
When I ordered a cup of coffee I expected a great cup given the location and nice appearance of the restaurant.
However the coffee I was served tasted like I imagine dish water would.
After mentioning it to a waitress she said «the owner knows but it’ some fancy roast and the owner thinks it’s good.»
It might be halfway good if they used enough coffee in the brewing process to allow you to taste coffee.
Upon further questioning, the waitress even confided that she goes out to grab a cup elsewhere sometimes on a break.
It is hard to imagine that an owner of a breakfast and lunch only restaurant if brought to there attention would not try to correct something as fundamental as a decent cup of coffee.
Not surprising given some other reviews.
Perhaps they should check out their competition at Wild Eggs who serves an amazing cup of coffee.

We were really happy to find a new place for breakfast and had high hopes for Verbena. The location is quaint and the restaurant itself very cute. But that’s as far as the positive part of our experience went. The coffee was the worst I’ve ever had anywhere.
My husband and I ordered two different items because we like to share. He ordered the crepes and I ordered Eggs Benedict. The crepes were doughy, undercooked and tasteless. The eggs Benedict were over cooked, the eggs were more like hard boiled rather than soft poached. And just when we thought it couldn’t get worse, we told the waitress we wanted them redone and she went to one of the owners who came over and I showed her the over cooked eggs then she laughed saying «well they’re not that bad, I was expecting worse». She went on to explain how they cooked their eggs. Frankly I don’t care how you cook your eggs as long as they are as expected. Eggs Benedict yolks should flow once cut, not have a solid yolk.
I might have expected such a response from wait staff, but never from an owner. I was completely appalled by the response of the owner.
Needless to say we won’t be back.
