J & J’s Candy Bar

I hereby declare this sorry excuse for a candy shop CLOSED!
Good, because I kept forgetting it was gloomy and weird and going back in, lured by the promise of the sweet stuff.
I swear, I nearly chipped the tooth on a gummy worm last time I was here… perhaps they were clearing out ancient candy stock before the fold.

Wasn’t impressed at all here. The selection was average. The prices were higher than high. The service was not the greatest. They do have Del’s here, which is the only thing from stopping me giving them a 1 star. I suppose if you have money to blow, you might like this place. But if you’re an average joe like me, avoid this place.

I work next to this store (Sort of, Sneaker Junkies is next to it, and I’m next to them. Do some math or something.) and I pass it all the time wanting to buy something, but not consuming dairy kind of ruins the fun.
So, I selected a variety of chocolates for my father for his birthday, from what I hear they were excellent. I highly recommend this if you’re getting someone candy as part of a gift, beats the hell out of Russell Stover ANY day. The boxes are cute too. They also looked really delicious, and the guy behind the counter was super patient and nice. Word.

yay candy! i swear i could feel like a little kid in this store. they got some cool looking stuff. be wary if you come in with kids. they’ll go nuts!
i took one star off because their chocolates don’t look homemade. that would rock. but whatever. the chocolate they have looks decent enough
another star goes because of the lazy girl behind sitting behind the counter with her feet on it (whaaat?) who looked at my friend like she was crazy and acted like she was being asked to go completely out of her way when she asked for smaller bags to fill with candy (my friend has young kids and didn’t want to go too nuts).
however…15% student discount? not too bad. it makes up for them not being open at 10:30am when i wanted to go get stuff for my niece and nephews. i’ll just come at a different time.
