Prior Service

If you’re looking for honest and good mechanics, then this is the place you should go. I was told by mechanics at a corporate chain that I needed my calipers replaced in the front and back of my Outback without even looking at my car (I went to get an oil change which they didn’t even do…). They were ready to give me a price and everything. Well, they were wrong. This place actually took the time to check everything and found that I just needed new brakes. They gave me a list of other things that I should get fixed but did not pressure me to get it done. In fact, they told me the things on the list that could wait and what was worth doing. Not to mention the price was great as well.
I totally trust these guys and would go there for all my car needs. Best mechanics I’ve ever been to in New England.

I also live across the street from Prior. Both my girlfriend and I go to Prior when we need work done. This time I was having engine problems. Bill diagnosed the problem and gave me an estimate within an hour. Another hour and a half later it was done. The cost was very reasonable, and my care is running great!

I have to say that I am shocked that Prior Service doesn’t yet appear in Unilocal.Well, here I am to tell everyone that if you are looking for a good, honest, friendly and knowledgable mechanic, then you need to go and see Bill at Prior.
When I moved into my new apartment on Charles St., I happened to notice that the shop was across the road and though to myself, «hmmm… I wonder if those guys are good.» My co-​worker at the time, who also lives in the neighborhood, was telling me if I needed a great mechanic, to take my car to Prior.
I’ve been living here for about 6 months I’ve had no problems with my car… up until last Friday when I was in my car getting ready to leave for work and it wouldn’t start. It took a few times, but it finally turned over and off I went. Long story short, I ended up breaking down at the intersection of the Rt. 146 Lincoln Mall Exit and Rt. 116. When I called Roadside Assistance, I told them I wanted my car towed to Prior. I figured, why not give him a shot because it’s also convenient.
I called and spoke with Bill, explained my situation and he said it was no problem to have my car towed there. We, and by we I mean me, the tow truck driver and my car, showed up at Prior about 45 minutes later. Bill came out to greet me and introduced himself. He popped the hood of my car while I was there to take a quick peek and told me he’d call me when it was all set which would be ASAP. Bill called a few hours later and told me what was wrong (really bad battery!) and explained things he looked at and fixed, etc. and also how much I owed, which was extremely reasonable. When I walked over to pick my car up, he showed and explained to me everything he did and what I should consider fixing.
Never once did I feel like I was being scammed or abused because I’m a woman and I was new at his shop. He treated me fairly and respectfully and I, of course, made it a point to thank him for taking the time to explain everything to me.
I now have a new favorite mechanic!
