Roger Williams Park Botanical Center

I’d love to revisit the gardens during early summer when everything would be in bloom and the grass green. The green houses are fabulous!

This is a beautiful place to visit. Even though we went in November there was still plenty to see. The indoor area is the big draw during the winter with plenty of colorful flowers and large trees, and although there isn’t much blooming in winter, they have a ton of evergreen trees and other foliage outside that is pretty too look at.

I recently visited the Roger Williams Park Botanical Gardens. While there, they were exhibiting the ceramic artwork of several artists. I must say after this long winter it was nice to spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon in the warmth of a greenhouse. It takes a bit of patience while your glasses and camera lenses adjust to the heat, but once ready you’re in for a treat. The gardens were quite busy and it was a photography lovers dream. Among the beautiful ferns and flowers were giant works of art that were amazingly well chosen and placed to create an exotic wonderland. The staff were warm and welcoming and very interested in engaging with visitors and answering questions. Without the art exhibit, I think my visit would have been much shorter. With it, I actually went twice and stayed a couple of hours each time. I brought my camera and took some amazing photos, and while there met a lot of other photography lovers. It was well worth the $ 3 price of admission. I will be watching for upcoming events there for sure.

Went there with my friend Brent on the first Saturday of April (Center is free for Providence residents the first Sat of every month). It was the first time for both of us. We liked some of the flowers, plants, palms, carnivorous plants, orchids, etc. The one downside was that many many of the plants had no signs, we did not know what we were admiring.
It would be nice to have the name of the plant, where it is from, and maybe a little information if pertinent. Visitors would enjoy the center much more that way.

The botanical garden is literally a breath of fresh air. It is so enjoyable, warm, lush and colorful on a winters day.
There are benches in almost every room for one to sit and enjoy the environment.
You can bring a tea, coffee, lunch whatever to enjoy.
My suggestion come on a sunny winter day, the sun feels amazing. There are 2 buildings with 6 rooms to enjoy. All with unique rich plants, trees and flowers.
I haven’t been during the summer but intend to stop by to visit the gardens outside as well.

Those of us with four eyes must first patiently wait for the fog to clear. Those that do not require corrective lenses should know that the phenomenon that causes spurts of blurry vision is due to the drastic shift in temperature from outside to in.
As soon as the fog clears, it as if you stepped into a temporary paradise. The botanical garden looks and feels as if you are outdoors, but the warmth that engulfs you there in Lower Elmwood, mid-​December, reminds you that this is not the case.
The water features and high ceiling of the main entrance are enough (combined again with the pleasant temps) are worth the price of admission alone.
Although I have never been to an event here, they must be a blast.
The cacti and exotic flora are so tempting to reach out and touch. But don’t.
Wonderful, inexpensive retreat for those of us whose schedules do not permit a proper vacation.
Sad, but not really.

I got married in the beautiful, stunning Botanical Gardens, and it was AWESOME!
We had our ceremony at the Botanical Gardens on 8÷31÷14. I loved it at first sight — from the minute I walked through the door I knew this was the place we had to say our vows! Heather was great and answered all of my questions — she was a huge help! They even have a stunning wooden arch you can use at no cost! We opted to put pipe and drape at the end of the aisle so I was hidden before walking down the aisle, and when that curtain opened and I saw how stunningly gorgeous everything was I was weak in the knees! It was so beautiful it barely need any décor. It was hot but there’s a nice cross breeze from keeping the doors open. I loved everything about the venue — it was simply breathtaking!

I love the Botanical Center! It is so beautiful and such an unexpected addition to the park. The architecture is beautiful and I think really makes an impression when you pull up. The interior is exactly what you would expect but throw in a few fountains and a coy pond. I am having my wedding ceremony here. You can also have your wedding reception here but it is a green house which means whatever the weather is outside it is at least that temperature inside. That could make for a really hot wedding reception and not in a good way.

How have I never reviewed this beautiful hidden gem in RI?! This is one of my all time favorite and very often frequented places in our state. This is basically multiple very large green houses filled with exotic and beautiful plants, giant trees, gorgeous flowers, and flowing and trickling fountains and ponds.
The warmth that surrounds you as you walk in the doors is just so comforting, especially on a cool or rainy day. Walking into these botanical gardens makes you feel as if you are walking through a tropical island.
The price of admission is very reasonable ($ 3 adults and young children are free). Sometimes I will come here and just sit and breathe in all the fresh air created from these lovely living gardens. I’ll often sketch the ponds and plants while sitting on one of their many comfy benches. This is such a relaxing place and a little piece of Heaven if you stop and really savor it’s goodness.
It’s never heavily packed, and often you will just be there by yourself with the occasional plant lover strolling by. Weekends are definitely busier, though. Sometimes they host weddings at this location, though, and their hours many be adjusted for this. May be a good idea to call the ticket booth first.
Overall, Roger William’s Botanical Center is a great place to enjoy some fresh and fragrant air from their many plants and flowers, while enjoying the vibrant colors that illuminate around you.

I attend a fund-​raiser here and the greenhouses are beautiful! The space managed to not be hot, stuffy, or smell of wet earth so those that aren’t gardening fiends will be comfortable. My date and I found a bench right near he banana trees and talked for a long while. Even with the hustle and bustle of the event, it felt serene and intimate.
I believe there is a nominal fee to get in. My suggestion would be to use the park for its more common recreational activities (biking, boating, etc.) and then swing by here to relax and connect with nature (or a hottie).
Or you could have a nice picnic in the park and then bring your date here. Perfect setting to tell someone how no flower on Earth can compare with their beauty, or something a little less cheesy.

This is my go to place just to sit and look at all the beautiful plants!

I was really surprised by this gorgeous spot! I was hired to play a wedding here a few years ago and I have to say… of all the gorgeous venues I’ve played at in RI, this one sticks in my memory as a perfect blend of nature, structure, outdoor/​indoor, sexy, exotic, fun, and relaxed. The wedding was in the late afternoon in the Summer, so there was still tons of sun streaming through the greenhouse windows, which are towering above. It actually has a retractable roof, so it was open that day but could have closed in a pinch if it was raining. The plants were HUGE, diverse, and so beautiful, with beautifully kept paths throughout. And it didn’t have that greenhouse smell, you know what I mean? After the ceremony, the sun started to set and they turned the special lighting on and it was just stunning. The koi ponds were fascinating, and not just for the children attending. I never knew this was part of the park, but I will definitely be back soon… I want to show my boyfriend ;)

So beautiful, serine, peaceful. Even the children liked it. We walked from the bottom of RW to the botanical center. GREAT DAY!

Ok, ok. The truth is that Rhode Island never ceases to surprise me with the number of truly fascinating cultural outlets for its residents. The Botanical Center is one of these places that I never knew existed that really blew me away in how great it is. Lovely gardens (especially at night, because I was at a wedding), even better inside the greenhouses. I felt like I was in Jurassic Park with all of the giant plants and the tropical stuff. We met the managers and they were just friendly and wonderful too.
The best part is that it’s super cheap to get in. They accept donations, and given the low admission price, you should give them one. Plenty of parking and an enjoyable couple of hours in store for you. Please, drop what you’re doing and go now.

Effing invigorating presenting riveting planting in prose not wanting for participles.
Come for the rose garden, the cleverly designed koi ponds and the Jurassic plant life in the greenhouses.
And during your adventuring you won’t be considering exiting because it’s all so pleasuring.

What a great, relatively unknown oasis in the great little city of Providence! Open only about a year at this point, the Botanical Center is three massive greenhouses, two of which are open to the public and filled with a wide assortment of tropical flowers, plants and orchids, all arranged around beautiful fountains and ponds. A highlight is the carnivorous plant exhibit, which allows you to see all those cool plants that trap and digest insects (and rodents!).
