Kung Fu Dumplings

Updating my earlier review from 2014: the dumplings are still fantastic. The menu has expanded, but I did not get a chance to sample any of the new offerings on my most recent visit. Suffice it to say, I still highly recommend this place and I look forward to going there the next time I’m in Provincetown.

Nice spot for a quick bite. Their pork and chicken dumplings are tasty, juicy and flavorful. Get them pan fried for that crispy exterior.

We got to our hotel a mile down the road on a Tuesday night around 9pm and wanted to just «Netflix and chill» but moreso in our case, «watch TV and eat dumplings and sleep.» So we got takeout at Kung Fu Dumplings — they close at 10pm. We placed our order online and received a text saying our food will be ready in half hour. We got two meat pies, two orders of dumplings (one fried and one steamed) and some sweet and sour pork ribs with rice. We got there and the man behind the counter was very friendly and was wrapping up the order. The hot oil was a bit. weird — a bit grainy for some reason. Otherwise, the dumplings were really good. The pork ribs were okay — the sauce was a bit meh which ultimately just made the whole dish, meh. We got a bit too much food so the meat pies had to wait. I’m sure they would have been delicious fresh. Will for sure be back for another go around if we head to P-​town again.

Outstanding dumpling regarding the taste! The Xiao Long Bao soup dumplings were stuck to the aluminum plate they were served on and the soup ran out instrad of staying inside the dumpling, which kinda ruined the whole point about soup dumplings! Otherwise excellent!!!

Their dumplings were fantastic! They took about 15 minutes to make an order of 6, which was surprisingly long, but I saw they make the dumplings fresh, steam them in bamboo baskets, then pan fry them. Delish! They had a good selection of vegan and vegetarian options and the veggie dumplings were a little different than your usual cabbage and tofu, and had brussel sprouts, tofu, and rice noodles. Friendly service and a lovely outdoor patio area.

Great dumplings! The line can be long so there is a wait to get your order — and since they’re made in front of you, the wait can be a bit longer than expected, but they’re delicious. We just got an order of the pork dumplings as a snack in the afternoon before dinner.

Cutie pie dumpling shop with decent chicken and mushroom dumplings. 6 for 7.00. Friendly staff, could use a little cleaning up but overall a nice spot for dumplings.

When my family was here last time, we ordered steamed dumpling and lomein. Steamed dumplings were very dried. It felt like they were re-​heated in the microwave and lomein was not seasoned that well. And I think prices are bit high for cheap Chinese restaurant. I understand everything in Provincetown as tourist place is expensive, but I was expecting bit more of taste or quality.
I went in there with low expectation and I had to lower my expectation after the visit.

Just average. There were 7 in our party and ordered a variety of things.
Won ton soup was simple and nice and hot.
Wings were crispy wing dings
Sesame pancakes were sweet. Almost like fried dough
We tried all of the different types of and they were ok. Not too hot and not much soup in the dumplings.

Dumplings were amazing! Highly recommend. We had the tofu steamed and the shrimp pan-​fried. Shrimp had slightly more flavor, but I think that’s because they were pan-​fried. Would absolutely get both again. The carrot and seaweed salad was basically seaweed salad with lots of shredded carrot. It was good and fresh, but nothing out of the ordinary.
This was the perfect snack after riding the dunes!

We ordered a few things. Hands down the pan-​fried pork dumplings were fantastic! If you go in you will see that the dumplings are hand made right there. Get a few orders of that and skip the meat pie. The carrot & seaweed salad was a little spicy and just ok.
The seating was limited so we just ordered pick-​up and ate it at the hotel (food was still hot when we got there).

Smells like a musty cellar. Floors are grimy, especially in the corners. Watched them serve an order to seated customers, then realize that they gave it to the wrong people. Server came back to table, removed the order and packed it up for another person’s take-​out order.

Really good. Tried the tofu dumplings on a whim at this off the beaten path location and they were awesome. Going back. Nice find.

I was very excited to try their soup dumplings (xiaolongbao), given that it is hard to find Shanghainese food like this in the U.S. in places outside of the big cities.
The flavor on their soup dumplings was about average, passable but nothing to write home about, and a lot of the soup leaked out before we could even try them. My issue was more with the ridiculous prices. They charge $ 8 for 6 tiny – and I mean tiny– dumplings. I could have eaten about 20 of these by myself, but there is no way I am going to drop $ 25-​$ 30 on dumplings. In Manhattan, the most you could charge for 6 dumplings is $ 2, and that would be pushing it.

After 4 days of rich seafood, I was looking for something different when we chanced upon Kung Fu Dumplings. I saw that they had fresh made soup dumplings aka 小龍包 (my favorite dumpling) and got an order. They were superb with a drizzle of vinegar or Sriracha. The trick is not to pierce the steamed soup dumpling and just put the whole thing in your mouth. When you bite in, the savory broth bursts out of the dumpling. Yum… We ended up eating 3 orders of it and an order of pan-​fried beef dumplings. A great unexpected find in P-​Town! It’s down the alley to the right of the Portuguese Bakery, behind the pizza place.

Went here with some friends to grab a bite to eat before heading off into town. After perusing the menu, I decided to go with the soup dumplings and the egg fried rice.
The soup dumplings were ok, but they didn’t really have any soup in them – which seemed a little odd to me. I don’t know if it just leaked out, or if I got the wrong order but I didn’t think there was any liquid inside.
The fried rice was very bland and lacked any real flavor and was filled with raw celery, not something I’m a big fan of.
Overall, the pricing here is a bit high for the quality of food and I was not a big fan of either of the dishes I tried. The dumplings are definitely better than the rice, but still not at the level I have grown accustomed to.

We stopped in because we wanted soup dumplings. The dumplings are good. A little doughy for my taste but pretty authentic and they had a tasty filling and good broth inside. I also liked that they had plastic «Chinese spoons» for eating the dumplings, and not just regular spoons. There’s a good selection of sauces and seasonings to help yourself to as well.
However the guy behind the counter who said he ran the place was kind of a jerk. When we were looking over the menu I commented to my friend that I was surprised pan fried dumplings are a dollar more. The owner jumped in and told us that it was because they used oil. I said I had never seen that before, but not in an accusatory way, and he said that I had probably never been to a real dumpling house. I said we were from Boston and had recently had dim sum in Chinatown so I was pretty familiar with dumplings. He basically said that that wasn’t a real dumpling house because they didn’t have as many types of dumpling (wrong) and they served things other than dumplings (so does his «dumpling house»). The attitude just wasn’t appreciated. He also argued loudly on the phone with someone the entire time we ate. So –1 star for mediocre service.
The dumplings were also served on a plastic plate when there were clearly nice bamboo steamers behind the counter, the kind that I usually expect when I order soup dumplings. We were probably some of his only customers all day as the town was pretty empty, so he could have just shown some effort in the presentation.
Overall, worthwhile to check out for the food, but next time I would just get take out.

what a great little place! We visit PTOWN often, and this is our first time stopping at this restaurant. By the reviews, I assume it is a newer business, and it is so nice to see a little diversion in this area since it is so overpowered by seafood joints.
There are only a few places to sit in the restaurant, and you order at the counter which is fine, but the décor here is bare minimum. The food we ordered was great and authentic; nothing like you would find at most of the cape cod «Chinese» places. We tried the pan fried shrimp dumplings, the chicken & mushroom meat pie, and the wonton soup. I would recommend them all! My favorite was the meat pie which had a strong and wonderful shiitake flavor. If you love mushrooms, try it!
I would most definitely return the next time I am visiting town.

Great dumplings! Very authentic. Similar to ones I enjoyed in Shanghai a few years ago. The Chinese born owner is very friendly and obviously passionate about his business. He recommended the carrot slaw — which he makes himself — and it is indeed delicious.
He said that he opened the summer of 2014. I wish him luck! If you arrive by bus or ferry, stop by and enjoy some dumplings! Anyone in P-​town who offers good food at reasonable prices and stays open year around deserves to be successful!

If your looking for a authentic northeastern (not a common cuisine outside of China) Chinese meal or a quick snack is the place to go!
The meat pies are delicious and juicy. The steamed and fried dumplings are really tasty. The wontons are thin skinned and perfect in a savory clear stock for a cold day. They just started rice dishes and tried the sparer ribs and they are so good. The food is made on site. They also offer soup dumplings but ran out the night I was there. They are difficult to make bit oh so good!
I would recommend this place for cheap eats for great quality for town and glad they’re a year round place. Rumor has it a full service restaurant is in the works. I can’t wait until it opens.
