Outermost Hostel

Okay, so I had a bunk room to myself (post-​tourism season after all), shower, kitchen, and clean sheets. That’s what made it sort of worth it.
I’m really easy going, but I couldn’t help but feel that the manager/​owner was really abrasive, as if I was a burden to her by being there. Additionally, I was slightly shocked when after I asked to shower before my upcoming day/​overnight travel (after my check-​out time, so I was sticking my neck out a little, admittedly, but couldn’t hurt to ask) she tried to charge me $ 10 — but only after not answering me for a minute and leaving me in silence as if to think about what I had asked… Oh, and no locker that will fit a laptop or larger valuables… so that was a slight concern as I was out for hours. Long story short, I think you get what you pay for, but hospitality goes a long way.

When I was making a reservation the woman was incredibly rude and hung up on me as I was asking questions about the location. Would probably pay more to be treated with some respect.

Bed Bugs ! I had a nice nights sleep but the cabin next to mine had bed bugs. Check before you stay ! Hostels are wonderful places to meet new people and great when traveling on a budget. But … this place needs to clean up before I’ll stay again. Which is unfortunate because I really want to like this place. It has a great location and a lovely host.

Yikes. Bugs, bugs, bugs everywhere. I don’t advise this place. Then, on top of that, they don’t answer their phones. The cabins are in very very very poor disrepair. Try to leave a message and its impossible. Try to get a call back. Forget about it. Avoid this place. Very dissatisfied.

Value for money in PTown, Friendly people, Ideal for budget travelers
If you are visiting PTown on your own or with your friends and looking for a relaxed, inexpensive place, this is the best bet. This is NOT an urban hostel with 24 hour front desk, ultra-​clean rooms and wifi, but a bunch of (mixed) dorm style cabins run and maintained by a sincere, attentive woman. The cabin I was in had six beds and an attached bath with hot showers. 5 mins walk from commercial street/​ferry point (another advantage if you not driving and cannot afford to stay in a motel 20 miles out of town). A modest common kitchen with enough utensils and accessories to put together a decent meal and make friends (most of them I found were people who have stayed there on many occasions over years) while making/​eating it. The room I was in had three safety lockers (that nobody bothered to use), bring your own locks to use them. Very reasonable price comparing to other ridiculously priced options in PTown. Will definitely go back.

«There’s a hostel in P-​town?!»
That’s what I said when I first found out about the Outermost Hostel.
It’s definitely the cheapest way to stay in P-​town during the summer and it’s very close to the town center (although it’s up a big hill.) And only $ 25 a night! The view is beautiful as it’s very very close to the monument.
There are 4 no-​frills cabins with bunk beds and each cabin has a small bathroom and shower with hot water. It smelled kind of moldy in the cabin but I looked past it because it was so cheap.
There’s a small common kitchen with just enough stuff to make meals. There are also BBQs available to use.
When I went there the owner threw a huge BBQ for everyone which was so generous (and tasty!)

yeah it’s a good place to stay for the price BUT…
the owner is strange.
My whole stay she gave me a hard time about EVERYTHING. And trust me, I was the best guest there. I didn’t come back late, I didn’t party there, I was HARDLY there! If i was walking out of the cottage and the screen door was opened she would scream at me to close it. I went to get linen in the office and she got mad at me and said I had linen already. AND the most appalling was that my roommate and her were talking bad about me when I was in the next room! (apparently I snore)…
So, the price is good, but i don’t think its worth putting up with that crap!

The hostel is styled as a «European Cottage Community» and provides a great places to stay while visiting Provincetown and the Cape. It is five minutes outside the rush of downtown P-​town, just removed enough to be quiet without being lost outside of the tourist/​pedestrian district.
The hostel is comprised of 4 different cottages– male only, female only, and co-​ed. The buildings are adorable, each has ~6 beds, a reasonable bathroom, and nice windows (with screens). There is a shared kitchen that is small but functional, a picnic area and grills that are available for use.
I stayed in a co-​ed cabin for a couple nights with a some friends. We took the ferry to P-​town in order to roll onto our bikes early in the morning and pedal all day. When we rolled back into the hostel-​zone, we found tea/​cocoa on the stove in kitchen, some obligatory guitar playing, and all of our stuff where we had left it. For the minimal cost and killer location, it’s hard /​impossible to say no.
I’d go back!
