I am new to the area and needed my hormone levels tested. I read reviews of ob/​gyns in the area and chose to visit Dr. Broadbent. The office was clean and well decorated, and the staff cheerful and helpful. I was told that Dr Broadbent had just been called to go deliver a baby, and so assumed I’d just be seen by his nurse practitioner.
I was seen by Dr. Broadbent, but perhaps because of the situation, he was somewhat unpleasant. He didn’t seem to want to listen to my concerns or why I was there, and the exam was quick and forceful, which no Pap smear should be. He also made a somewhat insensitive comment about my appearance, specifically pointing out my acne, which wasn’t the best thing to hear, and I don’t think it was necessary.
I was prescribed a new medication by him, but when I tried to fill it, I was told by my insurance company that they would need to be contacted directly by my physician in order to provide me with the medication. I contacted the office and was told they were not willing to contact my insurance for me, and instead could provide a card that would allow me to get a 30 day supply for $ 50. Unfortunately, both my husband and I are grad students… We simply cannot afford an additional $ 50 a month for a medication on our own.
I am pretty unhappy with my experience, although am grateful for the kindness of the nurse practitioner I interacted with while there. Hopefully my experience was unusual due to Dr Broadbent needing to be elsewhere, but I don’t think I was treated well or fairly.

Dr Broadbent delivered my first son as the on call doctor in the Provo Hospital. I arrived at 1 am after many hours of labor at a birthing center 8.5 cm and ready to be done! I refused to even be examined until I had an epideral and he complied which I thought was out of the ordinary and very nice. Just hearing my situation he immediately recommended a c section which I refused. He examined me and waited a couple hours (for full dilation) and then again recommended a c section. I refused and he told me I had two hours and then he was doing one. Delivery went fine.
At a follow up appointment we spoke more. I found him a bit brash and unsympathetic. I also found out he is a huge advocate for c sections. But he talks straight and he did what I said even when he disagreed so I say he’s okay.
His attitude is a bit snarky for someone who gets up in your business for 9 months and then attends to the bringing of life onto earth but if you like a straight talker or you like c sections. He’s your man. I have two other friends who liked him a lot. I won’t go again because I don’t like c sections.
