We carry new and used books from all categories including children’s books, chapter books, young readers, mystery, romance, horror, science fiction, instruction, books on audio cd, history, politics, first editions, vintage, faith and inspiration, literature and self-​help. We also have a full service coffee shoppe proudly serving Wincherster Coffee Roasters coffees, lattes and espressos.

History

Established in 2011.

Around The Block Books is a mother-​and-​daughter owned and operated business. The owners, Alice & Laura, are avid readers and have always dreamed of opening a used bookstore.

We hope to make Around The Block Books the neighborhood destination for book lovers and turn the average reader in the avid reader! We love discovering and exciting new author and want to share with our customers our knowledge and excitement of finding and reading great books. We encourage our customers to stop by and chat about new authors and the books they love (or hate). We hope to provide our customers with a used bookstore that offers great, personal service; a relaxed, comfortable environment; a forum to exchange ideas and a learning center for all ages.

Our selection ensures there is always something new to discover, and our casual, knowledgeable staff is as passionate about what we carry as you are.

We offer free WiFi, local coffees, local baked goods and local artists designs.

Business Owner

Laura graduated from Hood College with a Bachelor of Arts in Print Communications and English, editor of two college newspapers, and reporter for the Potomac Gazette. She has 15 years of experience with resume writing, writing for business management and is a member of the United States Green Build Council as a LEED Accredited Professional.
