History

Established in 1991.

We are located in an 1880 Victorian Building in the heart of Putnam’s historic downtown district, surrounded by restaurants, art galleries, and adjacent to another antiques mall. We opened in November 1991 after a complete renovation of our historic building, with over 300 display areas on four levels taking in 20,000 square feet of space. The Antiques Marketplace is the cornerstone of Putnam’s business renaissance, from a Main Street on hard times, to a thriving downtown district that has become a favorite destination for day-trippers from Boston to New York.

Meet the Business Owner

Jerry C.

Business Owner

Jerry started in the antiques business in 1975 in Oakland, California and is a national authority on the American Arts & Crafts Movement. In 1990 he sold his business in California and purchased the old Bugbee Department Store and converted it into a thriving antiques mall with over 100 dealers. Over the past eight years he has built the business into the largest jewelry and coin shop in Central New England, and most days can be found at the front counter of the store buying and selling coins, jewelry, and precious metals.
