MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital

I was here today January 20 2016 with a friend in labor and delivery. My husband called so I briefly stepped out of the room to take the call. The woman at the front desk Nancy came immediately to me and scolded me like a 3 year old about using my phone by our room door. Saying I was being disruptive.. I was pretty much at a whisper on my phone the whole time. all the while I had to turn up my phone to hear my husband talk because of the loud talking and laughing at the nurses station. Then later around 5pm the regular nurse came in to check my friend out. So we stepped to the door area behind the curtain to give privacy. and low and behold here comes Nancy again scolding us for being in our doorway waiting. I had my phone in my hand playing candy crush. and she scolded me again for being on my phone. I told her politely I’m not on my phone I’m playing a game. She said I have seen you several times on your phone. I explained you didn’t catch me on my phone talking except once. she said no your wrong I have been catching you all day. this is a blatant lie. that was my first time using my phone since leaving my home today. i had no idea playing a game is a crime or using your phone was a crime. Who is this nurse Nancy anyway. I have been coming to good sam since 1974 and this is the worst and rudest human ever to work here at Good Samaritan Hospital. This nurse Nancy is discusting and her bed side manor is lacking what a takes to be a decent person. This visit was going well until this person came on shift. This visit doesn’t deserve even the one star I gave it.

Its been a long night. Brought my son in due to a bad stomach bug. I knew there would be a wait as the er was packed but the staff has been awesome from triage, er tech to dr and nurses. Stephanie RN, Kevin our tech and Dr. Smith where awesome.

The Family Birth Center couldn’t accommodate our request for pillows for waiting family members. I’m sorry guys, we didn’t realize we’d be here this long either.
Edit: I managed to get one single blanket from them after complaining across the hospital. I’m taking one more star off for smart assery.

Waited 2 hours in waiting room with pain Level 10 and just asked how much longer and they said another hour or so. Apparently its not an emergency room with urgency.

I have to say my family and I have never had a good experience at this place. Usually it’s not clean or the biggest issue we have had was lack of compassion and care from the nurses. However this time around we have come across only one rude nurse, however mark and Cassie have been so wonderful we are on the critical care floor and they communicate and take care of our family/​family member in the hospital with such grace and knowledge. Thank you Cassie and mark for your time and compassion.

My husband is a type 1 diabetic. This alone brings complications. After a week of run around from other hospitals and being sent home with no answers we came to Good Sam. This would have been our first choice but we live in Tacoma so the ambulance took us else where. NEVER have I been so at ease or felt more comfortable with the care we received. Not only that but a few months ago my mother in law passed away after a long battle with cancer. This hospital handled her death with true class. This is a hard time for anyone. They are the best. I’ll never go anywhere else if given the option. True professionalism. True care.

Husband having chest pain, Thought I would bring my husband here since Saint Francis in federal way was busy. Check in went well, things were Rollin until we got to the room. Let’s see. Check in at 9:39pm. First time doctor came in was 11:15pm. Only after I pressed the (red) button. Well. Nurses attitude wasn’t warm. Seemed upset she had to get off her butt to let’s see work.
Doctor seemed knowledgable. 30 min go by nurse comes back in asks us what the doctor said. Really. Your the damn nurse look at his chart. Let me remind the hospital industry. You are providing a service. I could have taken him to any hospital. I expect answers not excuses. Don’t tell me your back up because your understaffed and have every bed full. It’s 1:00 am. More blood work. Asked the nurse if labs will have a quick turn around. Snarky attitude will get her name.

I went to the ER for chest pain on Wed ⁸⁄₁₂ at around midnight. The care I recieved was the worse care ever given from a hospital. The female Doc spent 2 minutes with me… came to tell me blood test results and poked head in the door… didnt even come into the room… she walked away before I could ask her any questions. I was left alone in the room for hours without being hooked up to monitors after returning from the bathroom. Not good for somone possibly having heart issues. When I was hooked to the monitors… the alarms were going off for minutes at a time over and over… and they would not come in to fix the machine. The bald male nurse was extremely rough drawing my blood… left bruises on my arm from the band that was way too tight. I could hear laughing and talking going on in the halls… nobody was checking on me. I requested copies of my blood work when I left… there were many things flagged as high and low. The Doc told me my bloodwork was perfect… her exact words. I would have never known had I not asked for a copy. Very bad experience and I left feeling like I had been mistreated.
update: I agree with previous poster… they have not contacted me since asking for my contact info… it’s been 2 weeks.

I was admitted to this hospital after an injury in the woods. I arrived dirty and badly injured. They did assess and treat my injuries but due to the system of corporate medicine I was thrilled to get out five days later. Just one example, remember I was dirty and injured in the woods? We asked several times for them to clean me up. I left as dirty as I arrived.
Update
Following the directions of the customer service person who contacted me via email regarding my review, I emailed her my phone number. That was well over a week ago. I have not been contacted. Beware of organizations who are not sincere about customer or patient care.

My mom was sent here after she saw a doctor for appendicitis. She wanted to wait a few days before the surgery so that she can finish making us food for the next few days or something lol
But after they took her CT scan, they told her she had to get the surgery on that day. She wasn’t prepared for the surgery and the hospitalization, but she got through fine. It was like her first big operation but they took care of her kindly. The surgeon was Dr. Kim who went to UNC Chapel Hill and we used to live in that area so I remember him well. His drawing of appendix and etc. were hilarious but he was very competent as were all the nurses. My mom was surprised at how American hospital works unlike the ones in Japan, but she was still pleased.
Everyone was worried about my mother than she were about herself. I’m glad she received warm care.

Wow was having horrible contractions ! Worst lace to go unless you are looking for a place to go get your feelings hurt ! The nurse made me cry she seriously was the worst person on the face of the earth I really hope anyone who is planning to have a baby will not go here she said… you must be having Braxton hicks or faking it … Asked if I had ever had herpes or a abortion in front of my husband which doesn’t bother me but what if I had had herpes? Or abortion? She had no idea that was my husband it could have been my brother or cousin or friend no consideration and then when I go into contractions she goes well you have had one in an hour so we’re going to let you go… Earlier today my doctor had said that my baby has dropped and my cervix is soft and they had said nothing about it ! And then as I am leaving she had asked If I had any questions and I said yeah what do you think I am getting my contractions from and she goes idk next time you see your doctor you he might check your protiens or give you a ua! Wtf so now I am a crack head f you lady! My husband and I were released and then couldn’t find the way out of the hospital we left following the signs where is says exit and walked into a mile of walking only to walk back to try and figure out how to get back to emergency room parking never have I been so angry in my life not only am I in pain but the I had to walk to miles to figure out how to get to my car

This is absolutely the worst hospital I have ever been to! I knew better than to go to this hospital as we have had nothing but bad experiences there EVERYTIME, however, my daughter being in excruciating pain and it being the closest hospital I thought we had no choice. I WILL NEVER make that mistake again! We were sent to the ER because It was suspected my 14 yr old daughter was having problems with her appendix. We showed up, my daughter was crying in pain, we still waited 30 min to be checked in, then 2 hours to get a room… Once we FINALLY got a room, it was atleast 30 min before anyone did ANYTHING, like the incompetent nurse who couldn’t properly give her an IV, my daughter was already in pain, and scared as she had never had a iv before, this nurse poked her them kept moving the needle in and around her arm causing her to cry worse, then had blood running down her arm before she got a different nurse to try her other arm! While we waited for this to happen, the nurse comes in with meds, one being a liquid, she spilled ½ of this medicine inside my Coach purse, all over my belongings… then proceeds to giggle, and apologize! This whole visit was a complete joke! The room was not clean, there was dried up spills all over the floor, the nurse left my daughters paper work in our room, how she knew anything is beyond me… and once they finally got her IV in, they took blood a 2^nd time «just in case» which was actually left in the room on the counter, and was still there when we checked out… we spend over 6 hours in the ER and got no answers, so, once they were done with the tests I took my daughter home and told them to call with the results, we weren’t sitting in the circus any longer! I even took photos of all of this, hoping that the hospital sends me a survey!

Was in here over the weekend with a serious kidney infection and a kidney stone. The took a urine sample immediately after I signed in and got me a room ultra fast! In the ER rooms they have LG TV’s with many good channels including HGTV and Food Network. All the rooms have big soundproof sliding glass doors so you don’t have to listen to all the nurses chit-​chat while you’re in pain.
Every staff member I talked to is very compassionate and they don’t treat you like you’re just another patient. They all wanted to see me better and kept me well informed on the meds they were giving me, when shift changes were, when any test were going to be needed and when I’d be going to get them, they also brought me plenty of water and let me know when I could eat and what would not affect my meds.
Love this hospital and I recommend it to everyone!

Most staff was professional and did their job efficiently — but the ER doctor blurted out my husband’s «diagnosis» with the door open to our room and plenty of strangers without a need to know directly outside within hearing shot. Patient confidentiality is a huge concern, as well as privacy. I realize the ER is understaffed and overworked, but please. Patients have the right to privacy. The hospital, your doctor and others caring for you should protect your privacy as much as possible.

This hospital deserves zero stars if I could rate it that way I would. Nine months ago my sister shopped around for a baby doctor and found one she liked but she had to deliver at GSH… I cannot even use the word GOOD in conjunction with this hospitals name any more… Anyway she prefaced everything from day 1 that she wants an epidural ASTAT. My sister doesn’t do well when she is in pain and that was something she wanted to be SURE she got. She was ASSURED that wasn’t and wouldn’t even be an issue. So the big day comes …11 am She checks in starts walking etc… Gets dilated to a 1 and cannot handle the pain. She is already asking for one this is at 3pm They tell her you have to get to a 2 before we can do the epidural… Ok so they give her some meds to relax her after she tells them she needs SOMETHING … That by itself took 2 hours to get. By the time they came back she was at a 2. It’s 5:30 –6pm now… Great let’s get that epidural now! Uh oh PROBLEM… For the next 5 hours she was told there wasn’t an anesthesiologist available on staff. They told us they were too underfunded and therefore understaffed to get her the quality of care she was there to receive. I had a police officer friend stop by and make a friendly visit to the staff to let them know we have a police officer in the family observing everything. They then found the anesthesiologist to give her an epidural. All this after she was dilated to a 7! I wouldn’t trust this hospital or it’s staff with my dog. I will tell everyone I know to stay clear of GSH… What if she had needed something ASTAT To save her life… my sister more than likely wouldn’t be here today. Apparently this place has a bad reputation as we found out later. My police officer friend who works in the area asked me why she picked this place to deliver. This hospital should spend less time valeting cars (obviously to attract doctors) and invest more in the patients level of care. What good is a hospital that valet parks your car but leaves you screaming in agony for over 5 hours because they are understaffed due to UNDERFUNDING. I am so disgusted with this place I had to get on Unilocal and make it known so perhaps a few people might not have the same horrible experience my sister did. It was a truly miserable day for all of us there that were agape at what this hospital put her through. Highly unprofessional staff and hospital. After further research this place is the same it’s been for 30 years. Once you get past the valet and walk through the doors it’s horrendous.

To the wonderful emergency room staff that attended to me last night; Dr Esterhay, my RN Kristina, Lindsey my tech & my transporter Joyce… Thank You for the great job, caring demeanor & professional attitude!

So this review is purely on a visitor perspective but based on that I am really thinking that I might find a provider at this location!
I came here to see my Bestest and her new babygirl! Driving up the location is pretty easy to find, they offer valet like most other hospitals do and this one was actually visable as you pulled up. I decided to walk and find my own parking since I’ve never been I wanted to venture a bit.
Walking in the front counter was very helpful. I asked were the gift shop was after they gave me instructions on how to find the woman and baby area. The gift shop had a large variety of everything and they even had a seperate gift shop that they offered to open up that had strictly baby stuff. Walking out I noticed a Starbucks next door too!
Took the elevators to the 2^nd floor and walking around everything was neat and tidy and the décor was pretty modern. Her room was nice and roomy and the ammenities were updated as well.

I’ve been to Good Samaritan off and on over the years, I’ve always found them reliable. Since moving back to Washington I had to go once again, they were fast and efficient. I waited no more then an hour to get a room, and no more then 30 minutes to get my painful issue taken care of. Everyone throughout the process was friendly along with being respectful. The doctor was knowledgeable, as well, even suggesting surgery and a surgeon so I don’t end up in the ER again in the future.
No one likes going to the ER, me especially, but I had little choice. The experience was as good as it could be.

It’s not the ER’s fault the wait is so long. Unless you need surgery Do Not Go To The ER! The area has tripled in population but still has one ER.
I go to Urgent Care the wait is half the time. I feel so bad for the ER staff at this hospital. They are doing an impossible job with limited staff and space.
I blame our leaders in Olympia. The need for a new ER isn’t going away. The powers that be don’t care. Why should they when the voters take what little they are given and accept it.

There is «waiting» then you come to this hospital (ER) and you truly find yourself waiting endlessly…
If only that was the problem, the intake nurse who attended my 4 yr old daughter was inpatient and mean (wrong RN to take children!), the waiting area was dirty, customer service is poor… definitely not going again, unless I’m dying and that’s the only ER close by!
Only reason I gave it 2 star is because of valet, parking is nice.
