First time here. Love this place, Eric is super cool and the Puyallup River Pineapple Ghost Pepper Saison is absolutely perfect! Especially with the Hawaiian pizza with jalapeños! Kudos buddy, kudos!

Very tasty beers and excellent friendly service. Tried the Georgetown Whiskey Barrel Aged Porter and the Puyallup River Pinapple Ghost Pepper Saison (just the right amount of sweet and heat). They now serve some delicious pizza too.

Diverse, large tap list. Great spot to try some different beers. Food is minimal so just plan on going for the beer.
Only thing I wish was different was if they allowed kids, if only until 6pm. As a dad of two younger kids, always on the lookout for a spot to grab a good beer that isn’t a chain restaurant. But I realize that there are many out there that enjoy it being a kid-​free space. Doesn’t stop us from visiting — just would mean we would visit more often if there was a time that families could stop in. Cheers to the owners and staff for creating a great spot in Puyallup!

The best brewery/​tasting room in Puyallup. Love Eric and his beers. Worth the drive. Pool table, old school video games, and brewers nights most Wednesdays. Friendly crowd and staff. Head brewer Nat makes some great beers. From porters to saisons to an awesome pumpkin IPA. Get down here and try some beer.

If you think the beer here is average, you may want to switch to another libation. Very good, creative beer. Farmhouse IPA was awesome and the Rye was one of the best beers I’ve had in a while. Owner was in house and awesome guy to chat with, a beer nerd that gets it. Support this place!!! Puyallup needs a place like this.

Lackadaisical service, average brews not served cold enough, very cool theme poorly executed

Not a bad stop in Puyallup. They have a good variety of beers on tap. They have their house beers brewed by Puyallup River and there are also some good guest beers on tap. The prices seem a little on the high side for the area. Overall, it’s worth a stop by.

Well well well. apparently this place is a hidden gem for some good beer. Food. not so much but it’s pub food. not your 5 star chef table setting restaurant I was just a tiny bit sad they ran out of meat for the nachos on this particular day, but oh well. I’ll just have another beer instead. Hahahaha
It’s the brew you come here for anyway. Did I mention they have growlers starting at $ 10 and go up from there based on the beer selection.
Come check em out. You can come play games here with your friends. They actually have board and card games you can ask for to use if you come with a group. especially Tuesdays from what I was told/​but the have actual machine games here like ms. pacman, jungle hunt and ice cold beer. so come n play.
Eric the owner was awesome. People have said cruel things about him, but honestly he has a business to run. You can’t please everyone all of the time. Give him a second chance unless you’ve made a complete jerk of yourself that you’re not welcome back.
I’ve found him to be a. OK in my book, so what the hell are folks trippin’ on? Get over it or get out! If its busy don’t expect prompt service. It’s pretty much just him on Sundays but he does have help at other times. All places when busy will ultimately have slower service. That’s just how it is.
Support your local small business owner. It’s tough out there.

Anyway, it’s easy to get tipsy on the alcohol content in these beers, so watch out you guys.
Plenty of places to sit but it can get pretty busy.
I suggest coming to try a beer or two or three.

Our favorite little PNW brewery! Leaving home meant leaving our favorite breweries… where everyone knew our names. Not until we found Puyallup River did we find beer we really loved, or an atmosphere that had the welcoming, homey feel!

Great place! Whether you stop by for a quick beer after work or stop by for a few drinks and some «Totchos», the beer is always cold and you won’t make it 10 minutes without Eric striking up a friendly conversation. Good beer, good people, good bar.

Beers have been solid in the past and still were this trip. However the bartender’s indifference shows through. Put down your phone and quit texting. Stop playing the video game at the end of the bar and engage. We even heard you say whatever under your breath as you walked away from another table. You are a fat oaf!

Beer here was pretty good. My main complaint is inattentive staff and mostly how the following conversation went; me «her beer has a couple of bugs floating in it.» Bartender «oh yeah, I guess there is, well the door is open»! Really!?! Granted, she only had a ¼ glass left, but if someone else comes in, and complains, just replace it!
If I was in the area again, I would just seek out someplace else.
Also, I’m also looking for a little more than hotdogs and nachos with cheese product and «taco meat». Yes, I did have to ask what «taco meat» was! i’m told it was beef.

Just got back from a visit to this establishment this evening. Went on the recommendations of other Unilocalers as I’m in town for a business this week. Fun and friendly place and had a great time here. Good beer selection, both from their own selection of beers (I believe it was 6 or 7 differen offerings) and others from the local area, including a few Deschutes offerings and even something from Firestone Walker.
I had a couple of the beer flights and then took a bomber to go so in terms of beer this place gets 5 stars. As for the food, definitely slim pickings in terms of variety. It’s a hot dog/​sausage establishment from that standpoint. I ended up going w/​the Chicago Dog and the MexiCali Dog. Nothing spectacular but by no means bad so I’d say it gets 3 stars there. Take the avg and there’s my 4 star rating.
A few other observations, there is a pool table, a few arcade games and GoldenTee! I’d be a lot more excited if this were a local joint for me that I could hang out w/​friends at. The multiple tvs in the place is nice as well from a sports fan perspective. I’d definitely go back if I were around the area again.

So you come to the South Sound for beer, and these guys make a rock-​solid contribution to the scene. If you think of the breweries ringing the shores of the Puget Sound as a series of gems in a necklace, these guys might not be the absolute centerpiece, but they’re more than holding up their share of the bargain.
You can find them not far off I-​5 (or 167 if you’re coming that way), right «downtown» in Puyallup. A few blocks from the fairgrounds, if that helps you picture the location. It’s a one-​way street with some cool 50s Main Street USA business development around. This is Puyallup, so there’s an antique store across the street.
Inside, there’s a bit of pinball, pool, and video game entertainment available. There are multiple flat screens, usually tuned to the game. Toward the back, there’s free popcorn. There’s a bit of seating scattered around, plus stools at the bar. They’re serving plenty of pints, samplers, and growler fills. Best news of all, the beers here are far more hit than miss. All of them are nice enough, with several of them actually being pretty damn good.
The service is really nice, and they do offer food – a series of different hot dogs, complete with a field roast option. They’re OK. I had a chili dog that came out tasting great; the cheese on top was Whiz of some sort but it all hit the spot, so no complaints. Between three of us, we ordered three different dogs, all of which got decent marks, seemed like. We also got samples of about 14 beers, out of the 24 offered on tap. Great porters and IPAs, lots of body and complexity. The other styles ranged from OK to pretty good.
They don’t appear to brew on site here, though the place has a nice modest stripped-​down feeling that reminds you you’re in what amounts to a brewpub. I can definitely see why these guys have grown to be a successful presence in the local community. For beer hunters looking to try new things, I’d say this is an easy addition to your itinerary when you’re looking for some of the outlying local flavor around the area.

We miss this place! We moved out of the state a few months ago. While living in Puyallup we loved walking from our house to the Ale House. The staff was always friendly! It was a nice chill place. I don’t drink beer but always enjoyed the ciders they had. My husband loves beer and loves going around Sep/​Oct when they have all of their pumpkin beers.
The dogs are good too! I had the veggie Chicago dog which was fabulous. Others had the jalapeño dog which they enjoyed. Don’t forget … FREE POPCORN :) love seeing places like this survive!

Each time I’ve been in here so far I had to go with a couple of sampler flights (four 5oz pours for $ 6) just so I could try as many of the mouth-​watering varieties as I could in a single sitting– personally I think that’s the way to go here. Of course, if you’d prefer to sample the goods by the schooner, pounder, or growler they can do that too! They have about 20 taps to choose from, more than half of which are Puyallup River’s own brews. On my most recent visit, there were FIVE different pumpkin beers (my personal favorite of which was the Puyallup River Jack O’Lahar Pumpkin Ale), plus several other seasonals. Definitely a great place to go if you’re into trying something different, or just want a more *traditional* craft beer done right.
This place isn’t really a ‘bar’ or a ‘brewpub’, but a taproom. That is, it’s all about the beer without a lot of frills. there are a few arcade machines and LCD TVs for entertainment, and they have free popcorn plus a limited menu of hotdogs for grub. On a previous visit (before the Alehouse was running it’s own kitchen), patrons were welcome to bring in their own food or have it delivered– my guess would be that’s still the case.
A fun, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, and great beer make this a great spot to kick it, or at least stop by to pick up some beverages to go :-)

Great, if not BEST, local place for just beer. They recently starting doing food, so I’m sure their customers will hang out longer instead of bailing for their munchies.
Owner is really nice and the entire staff is all about making sure you get the beer you want if you’re being brave enough to try something new.
I suggest the sampler and a T-​shirt (bought my friend one for his birthday).
2 things: Big Ass TV and old skool arcade games…
