The Arizona Pole Vault Academy is a club that specializes in help vaulters of all ages be the best that they can be. We have a complete training program that focuses on speed, strength, plyometrics and gymnastics.

History

Established in 2008.

Our club was established when the son of World Championships Bronze Medalist Dean Starkey wanted to start vaulting. Dean and his wife Jill, who is a Masters world champion and Masters American record holder purchased a property suitable to setting up a facility that would serve as a world class training facility for years to come. Over the course of a few years the club exploded with growth into what is now one of Arizona’s premier pole-​vaulting clubs.

Business Owner

Dean is a former world class pole-​vaulter jumping over 19 feet 5 inches”. His accomplishments include 2 time NCAA champion for University of Illinois, 1986 World University Games Silver medalist, 1997 World Championships Bronze Medalist Athens, Greece.

During the mid to late nineties he was the pole-​vault coach for Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where he coached many vaulters over 18 feet. Dean is the father of Garrett Starkey (17 feet 2 ¾ inches), the 2 time Arizona State Champion who is now attending Stanford University on a track scholarship.
