I see a few poor reviews scattered in here about the chicken patty which takes away from this place’s shinning star, the Peri chicken! I came across this place looking for something different to eat in the week since I missed groceries this week. I asked what’s the go to here and was informed that it’s all about the peri chicken strips over rice. I’m about half way done with my meal and I’m 100% satisfied. It’s a great option for eating out and not feeling so bad after. I’ll definitely return to try the next level of heat on the chicken. Hope they’ll be able to ditch the food that’s bringing them the not so nice reviews and focus on their chicken, this place can really be something special.

I enjoyed the Peri Peri chicken. The owner/manager has a lovely British accent and explained Peri Peri sauce and the delicious Portuguese spices that go into the recipe. I went in and can honestly say it was delicious. When I was there, no one was there, but then again, it was 2 pm on a Tuesday. I did wait a while for my food, and it was worth it. I inhaled in immediately. So good! I wish I had an idea of what the delicious food looked like before ordering it. I wasn’t sure how much to order for one person. I did notice there was a movie playing and so I felt like it had a fast food restaurant vibe… even though the food is actually prepared slowly with attention. I still remember how flavorful it was. When I left, a whole family came in.

Really good. food, best thing on the menu is the zinger burger and the peri roll, i like mines extra spicy, just call 45min before, it will take 45min to an hour to make your food, but its worth it. Ample amount of Parking is available.

Wait was around 15 – 20 min. The young lady at the counter gave me a heads up for the wait time, but it was definitely worth it. They have fried chicken along with«peri-peri» chicken which is chicken/wings/burgers that is marinated in a special seasoning/rub which also comes in a varying spiciness and is grilled. I did not try the fried chicken but instead went with the peri-peri chicken as per their recommendation. Got the ¼ peri-peri chicken with 2 sides(spicy fries and jalapeño poppers). Also got the 6pcs peri-peri wings, and a peri-peri burger. Got everything to stay. The plates you’re given to eat on in the restaurant are actually really nice along with the containers with condiments, just wanted to note that because small details like that stand out to me. Any way, the actual food was amazing. The fries and jalapeño poppers seemed average, they did not blow my mind but they weren’t terrible either. They were cooked really well and were not greasy at all. The peri-peri chicken and wings were absolutely amazing. What ever rub or marinade they use is just amazing. Chicken was cooked well, not over or under-cooked. They wings were grilled evenly and coated well in the peri-peri seasoning. The chicken burger was also cooked and seasoned well and just tasted awesome. The management was great and the staff seemed really friendly. Will definitely eat here again since its pretty close to where I live.

The Peri Chicken here is amazing, but the delivery service is just horrible. Took them 3 hours to have the food delivered. While waiting for three hours they did not pick up my phone calls. When I call from another number they pick up. When the girl arrives for delivery I noticed it was the owner or either the owner daughter/wife. I took the food and asked the girl if the delivery was from restaurant or eat24, she said she’s from restaurant. I close the door and it hit me that I forgot to pay her. Okay I don’t mind paying her but she’s the owner and she should know how to do Buisness. I told the owner to come back to my house in two hours if you want to get paid for making me wait 3 hours. She starts talking about«religion» that how my religion condemns this type of behavior. All I did was told her to come back in two hours to get the money. She said«why didn’t you cancel the order», I said«I contacted the store but you were not picking up.» Is she really talking about behavior? I don’t mind paying ma’am, just come back in two hours. Waste my time? I will waste your time back.

The peri peri chicken is delicious.(It’s the only thing I order when I stop in). Whether it’s the half chicken, the chicken strips or the peri peri burger… it’s delicious as long as you get anything with that awesome sauce! Definitely try it! U hmmm, now let’s talk about their service… SLOW, SLOW, S-L-O-W!!! Every single time I order, they’ll tell me that it’s a 20 minute wait but almost always end up being closer to 40 or 45 minutes. And even then… there seems to be no remorse that a customer had to wait so long. The owner is sweet but she needs to speed up herself and her staff to meet NYC standards. So definitely try this place but be prepared to wait for your food. I missed my Iftar time once last summer when I ordered food an hour beforehand.

I was going to wait until I had a few dishes here first, before writing a review. But the first experience was so good, that I changed my mind. I’ve drove past this place a couple times, noticing this fairly new establishment in my neighborhood within the last year or so. Took me a moment, but I finally gave«Chick In» a try, and I’m very happy I did. I went with the chicken strips over rice, and spicy fries. Their chicken is just incredible, no other way to put it. I honestly can’t wait to come again to try the rest of their food, variations! Staff was very nice and accommodating, and the décor is cool as well. I can’t give you too many suggestions since this was my first time, but I do know I’m ready to try it all, lol. This place has the makings for my new favorite spot already. I highly recommend it! Especially for the halal lovers.

The buffalo wings were rubbery. The menus online do not display a description of the items. Under the Burger section is a «zinger burger». I expected a beef burger with some sort of extras on it.(Didn’t know what, no description) and it was actually fried chicken breast. Misleading. And didn’t really taste good.

This review could be summed up in the following words:(Halal) Peri-Peri chicken in New York City that makes you feel like a giddy 16-year old with hopes and dreams ahead of you before you hit your 20s and you realize how much life sucks. When I last went to Pakistan in 2006(the good ‘ol days when you would be able to go without getting kidnapped and held for ransom), all my cousins were raving about this restaurant I’ve never heard about — Nando’s. Apparently it’s this Portuguese-themed chain that’s immensely popular in the United Kingdom so of course my Pakistani cousins who refuse to let go of their imperialistic masters loved it. THEYDIDYOUWRONG. LETGO. IT’S TIMETOMOVEON. So they took me there on my final night in the country. and till this day I remember how incredible the chicken was. I vividly remember what I ordered — a half chicken with hot peri-peri sauce with fries and rice. If there’s two things I remember from Pakistan it was Nando’s and my attractive female cousins. That’s disgusting. I know. I mean it’s completely appropriate if one thinks that and has no intention of anything more? Right?! I WAS A LONELY16-YEAR OLD. When I found out a Halal Peri-Peri restaurant opened in NYC, I lost my mind with excitement. I COULDGOBACKTOWHEN I WAS16YEARSOLD. I WASSOINNOCENT. I ended up going as soon as I could and I ordered the exact same order. The very first bite into the chicken: it brought back all the FEELS. It was everything I remembered it to be and more. For a brief moment, I felt like that 16-year old boy at Nando’s.and it was worth the 9-year wait. The chicken was perfectly flavored, marinated, and grilled. The chicken was extremely moist on the inside and very flavorful from the outside with a strong kick from the hot Peri-Peri sauce. The portion given was extremely generous. Simply said — it’s a chicken lover’s nirvana. As for sides(what I ordered came with 2 sides!), get at least the fries; the seasoning on their fries is just the right touch. Yeah as some of the previous reviews here have mentioned it may take some time to prepare but I promise you it’s incredibly worth the wait. You know what else takes time but is worth the wait? Just about everything MEANINGFUL thing in life. I think we can all agree on this rule of life: we rather wait than be served food that isn’t up to our expectations. My mouth is still watering from the amazing chicken and I can’t wait to go back — hopefully not in 9 years. But like in 2 hours. Or 30 minutes. Or now. PS. Shoutout to the extremely charismatic owner who just naturally radiates charm. She has the strongest UK accent(pardon me as I swoon and proceed to faint) so you just know you are getting Nando’s inspired authentic Peri-Peri chicken.

My girlfriend and I have gotten food from here a handful of times already and the«Peri Peri» chicken is the best thing ever. It has a smoked/char lemony flavor and it is done to perfection. I highly suggest the«medium» flavored chicken. I would definitely drive from far away just for that chicken. The owner is very nice and her staff is super courteous. This place is totally underestimated! I don’t know what you guys are waiting for… Run to «chick in» to get your food. Also, everything is made fresh right in front of you, nothing is pre-made! I would rather wait for 10 minutes than eat food that’s been sitting out for a whole day. To top it all off, they DELIVER to the neighboring area. As we are in Winter; that’s always a plus! Please try their food, it is super delicious!!!

First & foremost let me say, the workers are quite helpful and courteous. I came across this while browsing through the Unilocal App. After reading all the positive reviews I decided to take the plunge and try the Peri Peri half chicken(medium sauce/seasonings). This was one of the best grilled chicken I have ever eaten. The rice was okay, but the chicken totally made up for it. I also ordered the Peri Peri strips, it was delicious as well. I was NOT dissapointed at all! You are able to pick one side, and I got the spicy fries-very good & crispy. Even though I called ahead to order, the guy told me 20 – 25 mins and when I got there they told me a few more minutes. I appreciated being served fresh chicken and nothing was old or pre-cooked. I do not have a single bad thing to say about this place! Please neighbors, try the Peri Peri chicken, it was worth the price & wait. Enjoy!

This is a hidden gem! Halal clean and best of all, peri peri chicken just like Nandos from Europe! Go to place to order from guests over, or just flat out undecided. The place is relatively new and off the radar.

Ok so I delivered to my house tonight and why was my food look like it was dropped we ordered chicken wing and half lemon pepper chicken and the peri peri chicken … the peri peri chicken was all pushed to one side so it wasn’t taken care of. The half chicken lemon and pepper chicken had no taste the hot wings not hot spicy wise and the bbq chicken not bbq … But the peri peri chicken and rice really good … That was the best part of the meal … That’s why the 2 star review … Also did I tell you the food was totally cold ! This place is ok. The wait for the food is kind of long, maybe I was just extra impatient because I was really hungry. Got fried chicken but it was drenched in oil. Way to much oil for my liking. Felt like it wasn’t even crispy like good fried chicken should be. Maybe I’ll get it a second try again.

The food is amazing, the Peri Peri chicken strips are delicious. I’ve had it three times, kinda addicted to the seasoning/sauce/marinade. the staff is friendly and the décor is cool. The spicy fries are awesome too. Try the Peri burger and corn on the cob. Tried the Peri Peri half chicken and I was blown away. Peri seasoning is so on point! Try that first. I’m introducing this great food to all my friends and coworkers.

Lovely jem of a place in the middle of nowhere! I’ve lived in this neighborhood for several years and have eaten at the many restaurants that have tried to run here at this very same spot. We are strapped for good food in this area; much of what we have is Chinese take-out and multiple fast food chains. That is until I discovered this joint! The opportunity to have delicious, healthy food at a great price right by our door is something I have always longed for! For the owners sake, I hope she finds a spot that will bring her more foot traffic, but until that happens, I will be hitting her up for these savory bites before she leaves… and I would post better pics of the food… but I usually inhale it within seconds so… sorry…that burnt pizza doesn’t do it justice :/

I’ve ordered from Chick-In twice, both times through grubhub. Delivery time needs improvement, but the food is tasty. The first time I ordered, the food came correctly. I was called on my cell phone and told the food was outside. I ordereda chicken burger, a zinger burger, coleslaw, and a tandoori wrap. The second time I ordered is the reason for only 3 stars, and that’s being nice. I ordered through grubhub at 10 pm and the estimated time of delivery was 11pm. Fine — I figured it was going to be a long delivery time from my first experience. Around 10:30 pm, I heard the front screen of my front door slam. I quickly ran downstairs but no one was there. Before calling grubhub, I googled the phone number for Chick-In, but no results were found. I then called grubhub to get an update. I waited on hold for about 7 minutes. A woman picked up and told me she would call me back with an update. At 10:50, grubhub called me back and told me Chick-In left my food sitting on the floor outside next to the car in the driveway. Who does that? Why would you not call the phone number provided and tell me you were outside? Leave the food on the floor next to a parked car?

Only go here if you are desperate for something to eat. The outside & inside looked decent every time I would pass by. So I decided to try it. First of all, on the corner of this block there were shady guys asking for money which was surprising to see because it’s not that kind of neighborhood although it is near to Creedmoor(psychiatric hospital). One after the other my husband said they came up to ask him for money & one came inside while I was waiting for my order asking for money. I decided to order 12 pieces of chicken. The girl behind the counter said to me they don’t have that much chicken & the most I could order was 4 or 5 pieces. WTF? I thought this was a chicken joint? So she then said they have wings & chicken tenders. I decided to order 20 pieces of the mild wings because I already know that the chicken tenders was probably the frozen in the bag kind. I also ordered a tandoori chicken wrap, fries & a slice of pizza. Since it was not busy at all, there were surprisingly 2 customers already eating, my order still took some time. I was afraid it wasn’t going to be enough & still wanted to order the chicken. I asked if I could order the 5 pieces of chicken. She then said I could only order 2 pieces. I said never mind. While I was waiting I was looking at their menu. I asked about one of the sauces for the wings called peri peri. She was quick to say they didn’t have that sauce yet. ??? I just wanted to know what kind of sauce it was. When I got home, my husband said«what kind of pizza is this?» When I looked the pizza was brown & almost burnt. The only reason I gave this place a one star was because the wings & the tandoori chicken wrap was edible to eat. My husband who has been a cook at a few 4&5 star hotels said that the oil they fried the wings in was old. Please do not believe the good reviews. They are probably the owners of the place who update it every so often so it covers up the bad reviews. They are most likely going to close down because they obviously don’t care that they still give out burnt pizza.
