Always Reliable Movers

These guys were great. Came on time, were polite and super careful with my things. Someone else was moving into the same building, with another company, and I was really glad I hired them to do the job: they were more efficient than average at both taking care of everything and moving things quickly. I didn’t know this, but apparently not every company bothers to take care of your stuff so they don’t break/​get dirty during the moving process. Would definitely go with them in the future.

This review is long overdue, but I had to give Matt and his team the online high fives they deserve. I moved twice during a short period of time and both times Always Reliable Movers did the job quickly and efficiently. I also recommended them to a friend and she was very pleased with their service.
During my two moves, I had a lot boxes and a few pieces of furniture. On my first go around, I emailed Matt about two weeks before my move (during the busy end of August period) and he returned my emails quickly. I had some flexibility on moving days and Matt fit me in to one of his vacant slots. His prices were more reasonable than several other moving companies I reached out to. During both moves, his team arrived right on time. Two guys moved items from the apartment down to the van where Matt was expertly fitting everything into the van. I really didn’t know that much stuff could fit in one load. I was only moving about 10 blocks, and the entire process only took about an hour and a half.
On the last move, they started at 6:00 pm and had already been on several jobs all day long. I would have been completely exhausted at that point, but even with 5 flights of stairs, you never would have known these guys had done a full days work. Not only that, we had a major thunderstorm that occurred during the middle of the move and the entire time, they were quick and very careful with all of my items.
I cannot say enough great things about Always Reliable Movers, except just to book them! You won’t be disappointed.

I had to move last minute and went with Always Reliable Movers. They were efficient in getting my stuff into storage pretty fast. For the price, You can’t go wrong. Would totally use them again.

For the price, efficiency and customer care — you can’t go wrong. I moved with this company in November — two men and I believe the owner, Matt moved quickly to get the move done by the four hour mark. If you just want to move, and don’t need all the bells and whistles some more pricier movers provide — this is your go to mover. They came with moving blankets, plastic wrap and a hand truck and I was able to pay the deposit with Paypal which was convenient.

Always Reliable Movers performed a double move for my family (Brooklyn/​Queens) and it was the smoothest and stress free move. A team of three arrived on time; they were courteous, professional and extremely careful of the furniture they handled. Every item they moved was wrapped and at the end nothing was damaged. I was happy with the moves and would highly recommend Mathew and his team. I would certainly use Always Reliable Movers again

I spoke with Mathew a couple of days before i was moving to brooklyn, my old apartment was small but filled with all kinds of stuff, i never thought it would be possible to fit everything on a van doing two trips but they made it and everything got to the new place in perfect conditions.
Would totally recommend them.

Always Reliable Movers purported themselves to be a legit moving company that was licensed, in speaking with Matthew it was the most pleasant conversation i have ever had with a services company. He agreed to show up with a 3 man team himself being a member of that team, unfortunately 3 very unkempt individuals arrived, only one of whom could speak functioning english. I asked which one was Matthew and the english speaker of the group grunted that he was not here today. I felt slightly uncomfortable about this, however as I was soon to discover this was the least of my nightmares. 8 Hours later I have a broken office desk, i was told by the head wrangler and I quote … «that my furniture was shitty and this is why it was broke» end quote… then much to my terror I discovered that my Samsung UHD 4K 3D TV had a broken bezel. I texted Matthew and was given the run around. I furnished him with pictures and expressed my displeasure with his overtly rude foreman named Pete along with an at length conversation about his filthy mouth and extreme lack of customer service skills and self awareness. I also pointed out to him that as a small business owner i understand employee issues, and was therefore hesitant to post a review as it would inevitably be negative. I contacted him again on Sunday to explain to him that the TV base was cracked and that the assessment of the damages per samsung for the piece was 650. I very plainly stated to him that either he pay for the damages or I would leave a review outlining the horrible customer service I received. He replied that i was blackmailing him … this was news to me, and additionally that he isn’t responsible for damages after 3 days etc etc. My humble advice is to scroll through Unilocal close your eyes and click the name of any moving services other than Always not reliable Movers. Im following my complaint up with Paypal, the Better Business Bureau, and The New York Department of Transportation, I will also seek a remedy in court. After doing a search on

After contacting The New York Department of Transportation at (800) 786‑5368 this company is neither in their database neither are they licensed which means no coverage for your merchandise. Im not one to complain but whats wrong is wrong, and as a human being he should be willing to make restitution for the damages caused by his poorly equipped staff.
Moving is stressful enough as it is, you don’t need people breaking your items, I suppose you get what you pay for, if I can save one hard working person from experiencing what I went through, then my mission is accomplished. I wish I had followed this guide at this website

I would agree with the other two reviewers — these guys were pretty good! I reached out to Matthew on Friday for a Saturday move and he was very flexible. He was very good at returning my phone calls/​emails and providing me with information via text/​email etc. We had to move furniture from an apartment to a house, move a sectionals couch from first floor to basement and throw away a bed and mattress from 1^st floor to basement (all in all, whole bunch of things to do). We hired a team of two guys with a truck. They arrived on time and were very professional. They definitely knew what they were doing. They made sure the furniture was covered well to avoid scratches etc. Overall, a very positive experience and I will definitely be using them in the future. Good job guys and thank you! :)

Great service! The guys moved my one room in about 4 hours. Nothing was damaged. No walls were scratched. They wrapped all the furniture in blankets so it was completely protected. They took apart the bed and dresser and put it back together. They even waited while we decided what wall we wanted our bed to be on. They were friendly.
The only thing I didn’t like was we were able to reserve the appointment by paying with paypal but the balance had to be paid in cash. I never carry that much cash on me. Plus, I like to have receipts for my purchases. So that was a hassle. Other than that, they were great.

Three words to describe Always Reliable Movers: fair, responsive, and quick.
Why I would hire them again:
Prices are transparent and fair on their website. One has the option for one man, two men, etc for the move. If you are helping move items like I was, and there are no heavy items, one man could be enough, but Matthew can advise based on what you are moving.
Matthew, the company owner, is very responsive: he called me back within the hour when I first contacted him, and within hours had confirmed the move date, move time, and estimated total bill.
These movers were quick! Paid by the hour, movers could easily take their time, but not these guys: it was non stop in getting the items in and out of the old and new place.
You can pay in cash or via PayPal or Credit Card (for a small fee for the later two).
Matthew and Mark, my mover, were super friendly! Working with friendly people is always great!

Don’t know where all his great reviews went but Matt and Reliable Movers are as good as it gets.
I hired him because of his great rates and great reviews on Unilocal and he did not disappoint. Moving is expensive. You save a little dough with Reliable Movers but you will not compromise a bit on quality of service.
I’ve used them 3 times now. Seriously. To and from my storage unit and moving in and out of new places. I even used them once to help me pack. They’re always punctual, professional, and extremely helpful.
No reason at all not to go with theses guys!

They were very cautious and careful with all of my stuff and they were moving non-​stop.
Mathew, the supervisor, is very down to earth and made sure everything was packaged neatly.
My extremely heavy book shelf went down 2 floors and back up 4 floors like it was feather.
The guys also asked and placed every item in my new apartment in its new spot.
They wrapped my fragile items and put my bed back together also which was a major plus.
I am very grateful I used their services because this has to have been the easiest move in my life. I can’t thank them enough for the speed and professionalism.

These guys were great. They were a little late, but called me twice before hand to explain the situation. The boys moving my furniture (1 br on the 6^th floor walkup!!) were VERY hard working and nice. They moved all my stuff down 6 flights in 95 degree heat, and up two more flights at my new place in 3 hours.

I just completed a last minute move in Nolita and used AlwaysReliableMovers for the first time. Matthew & Jacob came to help and they were both very professional, on time, and helped to make the move as easy as possible. The whole process was a total surprise for the better and I genuinely felt that my stuff was well taken care of by the team.
