Double L Music Lessons is also the perfect resource for high school and university students (regardless of instrument) to sharpen their music theory and music history knowledge! All levels and styles are welcome (classical, contemporary, and jazz; beginner-advanced)

History

Established in 2012.

A passion for teaching music has always been in the blood of Double L Music Lessons’ owner and primary educator, Lauren. She started a very small teaching business at the age of 14, teaching friends and siblings of friends for pocket change. Through her undergraduate conservatory studies in St. Louis, MO, she relied on word of mouth to grow her business into something profitable, and to gain the experience she needed to start a bigger, more efficient teaching business in New York City. Lauren’s «small town», unpretentious, practical approach to learning music is often what keeps students coming back to her, month after month, year after year.

Lauren L.

Business Owner

A midwestern transplant, Lauren Lee attributes her eclectic musical sensibilities to her rural roots and rapt fascination with harmony, rhythm, and «ear worms». Her resume includes a diverse and impressive array of modern music, defying genre. A 2012 graduate of NYU’s Jazz Studies Graduate program, she has worked with some of the finest creative minds in the industry, including Gil Goldstein, Ralph Lalama, Kenny Werner, Don Friedman, and Brian Lynch.

As an educator, Lauren has taught both privately and as adjunct faculty at New York University and strives to be «that teacher I always wanted but never had» for those who study with her. She conducts all lessons in an organic, nurturing manner, with a practical, student-friendly, goal-based approach.
