Forest Park Carousel

I booked my daughter’s 1^st birthday party here.
I loved the space, and accommodation from management.
What I didn’t like (and in no way was the fault of the management there) was the creeps you get coming in from the park.
I had a few adults literally crash my daughter’s birthday party and incredibly, I had to tell them to leave (they should know better) and to make it worse I had a mother and her kids show up and try to join the party. She really expected me to let her stay, CRAZY. (I might have let her stay if I knew she was hungry but she was pushing a bugaboo stroller– home girl was clearly not in dire need for charity) However, lesson learned I will not have another party in such an open space again.
The carousel is a historic landmark and such a neat attraction to the park, this is a lovely afternoon visit for a family looking to keep it local. I definitely recommend a visit here!

This carousel is very nice. I love the hand carved animals, you can really see the attention to detail the creator had in making his carousel beautiful.
The ride is nice for just $ 3, I recommend it to anyone visiting Forest Park.

Even on a overcast day we made it out to this wonderful carousel in Queens. The carousel is a city landmark and all it’s items are hand carved. You really see the intricate art that goes into each piece. The lil one loved her first carousel ride and being around other kids. There is a snack bar in front and a decent sized event space for parties while today there was a kid party going on. Also a games booth too to win prizes. Carousel rides run only a few dollars. A magic show also occurs in the afternoon. Wonderful carousel in Forest Park with nearby parking. You can always go into the park and playgrounds as well. Makes for a fun afternoon. You’ll hear about other bigger name carousels in the city but this one really is a gem and shows the great restoration work that was put into it. Tigers, horses, even family seating on the carousel. Kids loved it.

My kids absolutely love this carousel. We have been on many together but this is one of their favorites. Cannot wait to have a birthday party here.

1 ride for $ 3 on the carousel. From the park worker, it was explained that this carousel is the 2^nd most mystical amongst carousels. There’s a lot of details put into the carousel that you can see. I have never paid that close attention to carousels before but now I will. The park worker was very informative and I learned a lot from our time at the park. I would highly recommend people coming to here to take a look at the masterpiece. Besides this, there wasn’t much else to do. Definitely a place for families.

This historic carousel delighted my nephew; at 10 months old, I’m pretty sure it was one of the best times of his life. He sat in the seats available for younger kids. Three tickets counted for a baby as well as his adult companion. We appreciated the staff’s attention to seat belts for everybody on the ride. What a great picture opportunity!

Why is it not open in May? It’s spring time for god sake! My little daughter has been asking me to go. It’s the closest one to me. Jane’s carousel out in Brooklyn is soooo much better ! It’s just out of my way!

Wonderfully unique and a true gem, this hand-​carved, early 20^th-​century wooden carousel harks to a simpler time. A relative bargain at $ 3 per ride, it’s one of the most singularly sweet moments you can experience with your children in the entire borough.

The park itself as a whole is huge. With golf courses, playgrounds, horseback riding, large parking lot, picnic area and the Carousel.
All aspects of the park are well kept up, except the Carousel. The Carousel usually isn’t turned on, is locked, and has no one there to man it if you wanted to go on it. I’ve gone here several time in the Spring, Fall and the summer and I’ve only found it on once. And it was packed. The animals where you would sit on look old and abandoned, the paint chips and it looks rusty.
The other components of the park are beautiful though.

I have some of the fondest memories of riding the carousel as a child and I have had even more as a mom and grandma. And it is right here in our neighborhood park = awesome.

two tickets for $ 5 on a restored carousel that’s more than a century old? now that’s good cheap fun!
they have clowns, magic shows, and other entertainment for kids on weekends. oh yeah, check the website for the carousel hours before you go.
it was a rewarding experience after our long walk here on a Sunday evening. they have a lot of animals/​seats to ride on, and even some two-​seaters.
true, it entailed briefly walking past some of the less glamorous parts of Glendale, but I sure as hell wasn’t moving my car after snagging a spot in front of our building. and the long walk was good exercise.
there’s also a concession stand, if you want snacks or beverages.

They finally reopened!
Cool, it’s not as dingy as it was and is looking pretty good.
Built in 1903, this is one of only 2 Muller Bros Carousels left in the world. Daniel Muller was considered to be the première «realistic» carver of carousel animals. His Animals almost look alive as they move. Most of the most beautiful realistic carved carousel animals are attributed to Daniel Muller.
The Forest Park carousel has not been restored like the Loof Carousel in Santa Monica. It also does not have the Santa Monica Boardwalk and all the restaurants around it. But the carving is superior and a merry go round is always a fun nostalgic ride and worth the time to drive to before going to Home Depot and Trader Joe’s.
