I have gotten excellent hair cuts from Irida and Molly. Both are talented and friendly. Molly also got me into their «Glo minerals makeup» which is great on acne prone skin (I hardly break out anymore). Kathleen has done my brow waxes and tints and she is a sweetheart, very educated on skincare. I have also had waxing done by Victoria (who gave me great makeup advice) and Erin (who has also given me a few amazing facials) I love this spa and will continue to go back (def for some chemical peels in tbe fall!)

Looove my new hairdresser shauna! I was referred to her by my future sister in law, and she did an amazing job on my partial foil and cut. The salon/​spa was very nice and inviting — they had coffee and cookies laid out for guests. The woman at the front desk, cynthia, was extremely friendly and helpful. I will definitely return. Highly recommend!

For 15 years I had my hair done on Newbury St. Living in Quincy now and having a young daughter, it was difficult to find the time to go to Boston. I’m so happy I found an amazing hair stylist /​colorist, SHAUNA Vila (Keany) at Allure Spa in Quincy. She does an EXCELLENT job with color, especially foils. I’ve become more adventurous recently, adding reds and golds. I absolutely love the way she does my hair. The salon atmosphere is pleasant. The owner, manager and others who work at the front desk are always super friendly and efficient.

This was my first visit to Allure Day Spa. I booked a last minute appointment on a Tuesday afternoon for a much needed massage — I stressed to the receptionist upon booking that I just wanted a one hour «head neck and shoulder massage», with a primary focus on the scalp. That particular massage is listed on the menu as a 30 minute service but she said it would be no problem to make it one hour. I repeated multiple times that I just wanted to relax, and the only areas I wanted massaged were the head, neck, and shoulders… hence the title of the service. After arriving I was brought upstairs to the spa lounge which was really nice — the treatment room was also really nice. My massage therapist consulted with me before we began and I stressed again the areas I wanted massaged, mentioning about 7 times that I really wanted most of the service to be a scalp massage. Easy peasy. I circled the areas on my paperwork, don’t really know how much more clear I could have been about what I wanted the focus to be. The first 30 minutes of the massage was focused on my entire back, a lot of time spent on my lower back… halfway through she started doing my legs, and I expressed again I didn’t want a leg massage, I wanted head neck and shoulders. The massage therapist seemed extremely confused, and then just proceeded to massage my entire back, again. At that point it was awkward and I could tell I wasn’t going to get what I really wanted. She then spent some time on my hands, and then spent 60 seconds giving me a scalp massage to end the service. I actually counted the seconds. The massage itself was not bad, it was just entirely not what I wanted. It was almost like she was a recent grad and was following the basic steps and flow of a full body massage and I threw her for a loop when I wanted specific focus areas. I was extremely confused and disappointed that I wasted $ 75 on this — I almost felt like I was being pranked. Other than the massage, the treatment room I was in was facing Quincy Ave which is a busy street, and the entire hour all I could hear was motorcyles ripping down the street and noisy typical traffic sounds. The upstairs is also mainly hardwoods and for some reason most of the staff was wearing heels, and that’s all you can hear. Maybe I caught her on a bad day, but this was really expensive disappointment.

I had a wonderful massage from Christian. She was five stars all the way. However, the smell in the spa was awful. It seemed to be some kind of incense oils. (I saw them around the place.) I am fairly sensitive to smells so I can see how it may not affect other people but it really bothered me. My clothes still had the smell even after washing them! Otherwise it was a good experience and everyone was very friendly.

Great hair salon. Staff is very friendly. I changed to them recently. No problems getting an appointment. Trish has done a great job. She recommended some different styles. I love my new look.

Made a Saturday last minute appt… Thought what good salon has an open appt on a Sat, but I was desperate with a wedding the next day. Boy was I wrong! Rita had a cancellation & I happened to call at the right time. For 3yrs, and several hack/​botch jobs since my hairdresser moved to London, I’ve been searching for the one!
That is now Rita. As an ex hairdresser I know Rita just naturally has what it takes! I was so happy I could have cried with joy. Went back 6 weeks later, she remembered every detail about my hair. Fantastic cutting skills! Front staff & assistants are very friendly too.

I was in the middle of moving so sore so stressed. I called to make an appointment for a massage. My therapist was named Christian. She was absolutely amazing just the right pressure made sure I was happy with the pressure. So relaxed and pain free after. Can’t wait to go again!

First let me start off by saying how helpful and friendly the staff is here! I color my hair a vibrant red and their color choices are beautiful, considering how difficult it is to find a salon with permanent reds. Their color is long lasting and i will definitely be going back as a regular customer.

Went once in 2012 and then back again just a couple weeks ago. Could not believe I almost forgot about this gem. Always a pleasant, and most importantly relaxing! experience. Kathleen gave me the best facial I have ever had and Eimer massaged me so well I felt like I was butter melting on the table. I was able to book this appointment within a few days and felt like I was accomodated well and treated very nicely. I LOVE the waiting area upstairs and look forward to another visit soon!

My one star rating is not for the salon as a whole, but for one individual. Yesterday was the third time I’d been to Allure Trish cut my hair the first two times and did an excellent job. I highly recommend her. However, when I tried to make an appointment with her yesterday she was completely booked, so I decided to take a chance and have the receptionist book me an appointment with Irida. I have had long hair my entire life and only get my hair cut every few months just to trim off the split ends. I told Irida to just cut off the split ends, a few inches or so. She showed me before washing my hair how much she was going to cut off, which was around 3 inches, and I agreed. Needless to say she ended up chopping 6 – 7 inches off of my hair. I don’t know if she forgot how much I asked for or if she messed up and had to keep cutting as an attempt to fix something, but by the time I realized what happened it was too late and my hair was at my shoulders. I am not a prissy girl and never fuss about my hair, but this haircut is actually ugly. This woman has transformed my super easy to manage long hair into an awkward length old lady cut. I’ve been told my many hairdressers that I have very easy hair to work with, so I’m not sure what the issue was. That was the worst $ 70 I’ve ever spent. She should have paid me $ 70 for chopping all my hair off without asking.

Kelly Scola offers the best when it comes to massages. Whether it’s Deep Tissue, Hot Stone, Swedish or other, Kelly takes the time to understand you and offers great suggestions to meet your needs. The quiet setting and professionalism are the best. Book that appointment, you’ll be glad you did!

I just had a manicure with Savi and… whoah! I’m floating on clouds! I cannot recommend her highly enough — Savi was detail-​oriented, knowledgable, kind, and pampered me to the point that I began to question if I was getting a manicure or a full spa treatment! I’ve had my nails done by many people over the years and Savi went above and beyond any manicurist I’ve ever had. I highly recommend the paraffin hand treatment for those who haven’t tried it before. I also give very high marks to Irida for cutting my hair — she is excellent with curly and unruly hair and always a pleasure to talk with. She remembers every little detail about your hair, preferences, and even things you told her months before — I have always been very impressed by her. I will be moving over an hour away from Allure Spa but I’m actually considering dropping in once in a while simply because Savi and Irida cannot be beat. Thank you both!

What happened to customer service? Recently visited Allure to get some highlights & haircut, neither of which I am satisfied with. My hair looked much better prior to visiting the salon & now Im out $ 145.00 including tip. My highlights bleed on the roots, turning the area orange & the there were patches like this scattered throughout the highlights. My long layers are choppy looking at the bottom & not blended as we had discussed.
I had called & discussed the problem with Lorraine & she seemed annoyed & stated she was booked all weekend & Monday, & maybe I could come Tuesday night. This is NOT okay. You made the mistake, you find time to fix it. I shouldn’t have to walk around with orange patches in my hair until you are not busy. I am extremely dissatisfied & disappointed. I will not be returning to the salon & will not recommend to anyone.

Wow, who knew finding a good salon would make me feel right at home? Just moved to Boston from Austin, TX where I had the same hairdresser for over 10 yrs. I originally called Allure because they used the same brand of color as my salon at home, however, when it showed up they told me they recently picked up a new line and weren’t using Swarzkopf any longer. My first thought was to leave but something told me to stay. My hair is about 75% gray and my current color is a mix of deep auburn, copper and dark red. To say that I was concerned about how this would turn out is an understatement.
Kelly was young, cool and totally put me at ease about their new brand of color. I showed her the inspiration image that I had given my original hairdresser and we picked out the color together using their swatches. Long story short, my hair looks kick ass. The color is gorgeous and rich, exactly what I was hoping for!
The particulars: price for the overall color, highlights and low lights $ 100. Is that normal for Boston? Not sure, but that is $ 25 cheaper than Austin. Second, they carry the entire Davines line, which I love like a sister. Lastly, the salon architecture and décor makes you feel like you are at a friends house for a day of pampering.
Now, please don’t go so I can continue to get good appointment times. :) (kidding, sort of)

Lorraine rules with the blondes!!!

I hate when websites lie. Their website is not up to date and they do not offer medical esthetics but simply refer you to «Crown Colony». So this is just a review of that part of their business.

I don’t want to give this place a mediocre review. I wish I could say that my time here was more enjoyable. They have a very cool option of a «Spa Party» where you can go in with a group and hang out in their upstairs living room area. You can bring snacks and drinks and they provide tea, coffee, water and cookies. We went there for my sister-​in-​laws pre wedding festivities with 11 woman for manicures and pedicures. This was a rather large party and they had to scramble to find enough techs to do all of our nails, which was appreciated. Our time slots were from 10:30 to 4:30.
The Good:
— Recliners for the pedicures. Its a treat to be able to be reclined and relaxed through this whole process.
— The usual nail technician is very skilled and very nice.
— Nice to have a spa party option since many places don’t.
— The owner was kind enough to address a skin issue with someone in our party providing her a free extraction.
— My mother in law also got her hair cut here and she loved it.
The Bad:
— The nail techs they brought in were not as skilled and another woman and I had to have our nails redone. They made me feel as though this was my fault though the rest of the party had very neat french manicures. Also the original technician came in and was asking if she did a bad job and if we didn’t like how she did them. It was uncomfortable. The shop owner stated that it was harder to do short nails and rounded nails with French.
— Another technician did not take off my friends original nail polish and just painted over it. You could see the old nail polish under it.
— There was a lot of confusion as to what was happening and it was pretty scrambled.
If you go there for nails I would book with Savi. She is very good at nails and also very nice.
I felt like there were some problems with professionalism from the owner and a couple of the techs. I feel like they need to work out some of the kinks with the Spa Parties. I don’t know if this is a new option, but they feel disorganized. Maybe it was the size of the group, but then there should be certain specifications on the size of parties if they find it challenging to put out quality work with a party that size,. I feel as though maybe half of my party walked away disappointed and its a lot of money to pay for something you are not happy with.
I would go back individually and try it again. Hopefully that will yield better results.

Three stars is not a bad review, it is just «A-​OK», which is my experience with Allure Spa. I went here for about 2 years for cut, color, facials, and occasionally manicures and massages. The upstairs lounge is gorgeous! It is a very welcoming and relaxing space.
I really liked my stylist Viola. She did a great job with color and listened to me if I told her exactly what I wanted. My only issue is that she always tried to get me to try layers which I know look great, but I just am not talented enough to style them on my own at home.
My facials, massages, and mani/​pedis were all enjoyable enough but nothing special. Unfortunately, my skin reacts to Pevonia products, which is not their fault but instead of other options, they told me it was normal to break out after facials. I have been getting regular facials for years and understand how they work. Pevonia may be a good brand but the products made my skin react in a very bad way.
My main issues with them are customer service related. I went there about every 6 weeks for 2 years but the owner never once spoke to me on her own. She gave me this awkward little half smile occationally but never spoke to me or made me feel welcome. The only time she spoke to me at all was a time when the dye stained my face and she tried to help minimize it because I had plans that evening. I saw her being very nice to other clients so it bothered me considering how much money I spent in her salon. I even brought multiple friends to the spa.
My other complaint is that I always asked for a larger size drape when getting my hair colored because I am rather large. They never seemed to go out of their way to make sure that one was available. I often had to ask when i went to the changing room and most of those times they checked and none seemed to be clean. It was embarrassing to have to go through that and then debate between the smaller ones that do not fully close or potentially getting dye on my clothing. (I learned to not wear a nice shirt after that happened once.)
Overall, I think it is a very nice place and I might suggest it to thin friends. It’s just not for me.

I just moved to Boston about a year ago now, and I for the life of me could not find a place that cuts my hair the way I asked. My first experience on Newbury Street became a disaster resulting in my hair being a foot and a half long, to a correction making it six inches long. Since my hair has been short, I have kept it fairly short because I have had some job interviews.
Long story short, I was recommend to Amy from a co-​worker and I could not have been happier with the way she did my hair. She is the first stylist I’ve met in Massachusetts that has not only listened to what I asked for, but also knew exactly how to style it that way with my type of hair. She is incredibly knowledgeable in her field, and also a delight to visit with.
I will be going to Amy for my next trim!
