Lend A Yelping Hand Superhero Party at Tir na nOg

This was another 5 star event and I am also glad that the money raised went to a good cause!
I thought all of the activities were fun — from cape/​mask/​wristband making to web slinging (didn’t get a chance to try this one though). I also especially loved the candy bar because who doesn’t like filling a bag with Sour Patch Kids, Skittles, etc!
Tir Na Nog had a nice spread of food for everyone, but my favorites were probably the spinach artichoke dip, meatballs and the cheese and crackers. They offered plenty of options for vegetarians which was something that we don’t always see at these events! Of course I went back for dessert, and enjoyed the red velvet cake!
There was also Crispin and Summer Shandy available, perfect for a nice warm spring night. Unfortunately we didn’t win in the raffle this time, but there were lots of fun prizes!

I was so excited to partake in the Lending A Unilocaling Hand event at Tir Na Nog after volunteering at the Appetite for Art event at Marbles Museum. I had tasted some of the delicious treats at the volunteer event, but Tir Na Nog outdid themselves with treats for the guests on Sunday night. I always enjoy lots of options for every pallet and dietary need and they certainly had that with a cod spread, humus, spinach dip, spicy meatballs, veggies and much more.
Walking in and and being greeted by Lauryn in her awesome superhero getup was the perfect way to start a fabulous evening. The Crispin and Summer Shandy went down so smooth, although my date had to get a Guinness from the bar which was also open to suit your needs. From superhero mask making to the fully loaded candy bar to my favorite «web zone», there was lots to do and wonderful music to keep us going. It was awesome to see everyone come together from all the different volunteer events and to collect more money for Activate Good. We even lucked out and won a prize in the raffle at the end of the evening!
I always enjoy being around friends but when you also get delicious food, prizes, refreshing drinks and can jam out to some great tunes, it’s ideal! Great job to Lauryn and team for the great event and many thanks to Tir Na Nog for hosting!

Another fun Sunday night courtesy of Unilocal and CM Lauryn! Who can resist super-​powered Crispin cider, candy bags and superhero cape-​making? Not me.
Popping into Tir Na Nog a bit late, the party was in full swing. With a band rocking it up front, food on the side and refreshing cider in hand, I was able to catch up with some people I had run into during my Appetite For Art volunteer stint. I finally got to officially meet Rose and her beau Steve which is always cool during Unilocal parties. With my arc reactor on full-​blast, I powered through the fun evening and was even able to find my Iron Man twin. Although she was way prettier than me.
I loved looking through my pictures from the evening, always a great way to relive the event. So thanks Tir Na Nog, thanks Unilocal and of course, thanks Lauryn. Sunday fun-​day always works for this guy!

Capes! Canapes! Charities! All these good things and more were found at the Superhero party, celebrating the power of doing good. Encouraging volunteering for a number of causes is a great way to build community, enrich the lives of our fellow citizens, and create the world we want to see.
I’m especially grateful to Tir Na Nog for the inclusion of lots of meatless choices — like their regular menu options, they made me feel like a meatless meal is not a second-​class choice. The cider and shandy on hand might not be my go-​to styles fof beverage but they certainly hit the spot on an unusually sultry spring day! The DIY capes and masks were a nice touch, and the supplies were certainly surrounded the whole time by superheroes in the making. My one nitpick — While the live music was an unexpected touch, it was way too loud for my hard-​of-​hearing self (thanks to Jason S for saving me with those earplugs!) and diminished the conversation I always enjoy at Unilocal events — but at least those boys knew their way around an instrument!

What a fun event to cap off a week of volunteering! I had a great time at the superhero themed party, enjoying some great Crispin cider (my favorite) as well as some tasty appetizers that ranged from dips and meatballs to wonderful cake! Since I definitely enjoyed sweet treats I had to get myself a bag of candy from the candy bar as well!
The only thing I wasn’t a huge fan of was the music. I love getting to talk to my fellow Unilocalers and catch up after a busy week, but it was pretty much impossible with the band playing at a deafening level by my table. Once I was home I found myself with a lingering headache due to the level of music. people seemed to enjoy them though, just not my cup of tea.

Such an awesome party. Who doesn’t love a superhero theme? It was fun to dress up as a superhero sidekick, meet a ton of new folks, chat with familiar faces, and most of all– celebrate volunteerism in the Triangle with the conclusion of National Volunteer Week. Lauryn truly is an amazing person to work with, and as a member of Activate Good, I think I speak for us all when I say that we look forward to partnering again in the near future :)

Unilocalers are always happy to get together on a Sunday night and yesterday was no different. Loved all the snacks from Tir Na Nog, especially the meatballs and the spinach dip. Any even that serves Crispin and candy also has my heart, so we definitely enjoyed ourselves.
Didn’t get a chance to make a cape, but I’m well-​versed in the dangers of cape-​wearing (NO CAPES!) The band was great (if a little loud. Yeah, yeah, I’m getting old) and I’m glad that so many participated in an awesome week of volunteering!

What an awesome way to celebrate and encourage volunteering in the community! Tir Nog had a great vibe, I can’t wait to go back. Here are the highlights:
1. Great band! I’m not sure if the random tambourine lady who kept making appearances in the audience was part of the gig but if not, she should be.
2. Great drinks! Loooove that Crispin and the Summer Shandy was super tasty for a 70 degree perfection of a day.
3. Great food! That spinach artichoke dip was dangerous and you know I’m always a fan of a solid candy bar!
4. Great activities! The cape/​mask making and silly string web shooting was super fun — made me feel like a kid/​kick ass superhero.
The missing star goes to the fact that I wish I could have volunteered in Durham and it was a bit loud. Overall though, killer party — per usual. Thank you for being such a superhero, Lauryn C.

What an awesome event to raise money for a great cause! Lauryn did an amazing job as usual putting this event together and it was the perfect Sunday Funday!
Tir Na Nog was a great venue for the event, and superhero was such a fun theme. By 6:15 the venue was full of happy Unilocalers make capes, decorating capes and masks and drinking Cider and Summer Shandy.
The food buffet was amazing, a lot more than expected! It was basically a full meal of delicious dips, appetizers and desserts. The curry meatballs were absolutely delicious, as was the spinach and artichoke dip, but my absolute favorite was the red velvet cake with chocolate syrup. Also, I can never say no to a candy bar!
The music was a little too loud, I ended up moving away from the party to the other end of the bar so I wasn’t shouting all night. Luckily, the other end of the bar had some darts and silly string so that was alright with me.
Great job Lauryn on a fun event and I look forward to the next one!

Tir Na Nog has hold a special place in my heart as it was the meeting place for the very first running club that I joined. I was more than excited when I saw that the event is hosted here.
My friend and I got here a little after 6:30, and the place was filled with music and happy Unilocalers and volunteers. After checking in and got our super hero lollipops, we made our way back to the beer/​cider station. Since I’ve tried the Summer Shandy already, I decided to try the cider. It was delicious, even my friend who usually doesn’t like cider thoroughly enjoyed it! It was nice and crisp. A perfect drink for a lazy afternoon. At the second round of drinks, the bartender served the person in front of me a mixed of cider and summer shandy and called it intrigued. I was most definitely intrigued! Count me in! When I had the summer shandy by itself before, I thought it was a bit too lemony and overpowering; however, with the cider, it was just right. I think I might have found my summer 2014 drink right here.
While we were enjoying our drinks, we also made a cape for ourselves. Since we got there a bit late, there wasn’t much left, but we still managed to make some kick ass capes. I am keeping my cape in case the world needs me!
I thought the appetizers provided by Tir Na Nog didn’t show case their full potential. Their nachos is so good! I wish they had that today. I did enjoyed the items that we got to sample today. The meatballs were super yummy and went really well with the pita bread. It was a bit too salty by itself, but with the pita bread, I wiped my plates clean! The spinach dip was also good. You can taste chunks of artichokes. Yum! The chocolate cake I got to try was a bit dry or else it would have been great.
Great way to end the weekend, and now I am ready to take on whatever challenges I will face this up coming week.

I felt like the superhero of arts & crafts tonight: capes, eye masks, and wristbands galore. Although, I’m no match for the amazing volunteers.
What a great, fun event to celebrate this past week! The live music was just a taste of Tir Na Nog’s weekly live music shindigs. I enjoyed both the Crispin and Summer Shandy beers. The bartender was telling me how the Summer Shandy is a summer ale with, essentially, lemonade just how the Europeans would add a lemon-​lime soda to their beers in the summer – YUM.
I had fun with all the other heroes this evening, and I look forward to tasting my check-​in lollipop hero later, too. :P
