I am partial to family owned or local authentic businesses as the chains are present everywhere and you get to try them like on daily basis. This place is truly a gem. The service is amazing and they offer a lot(chips are on house even when the price is so less). The sandwiches are one of a kind and definitely feel home made and taste amazing. The chicken salad sandwich is one of my favs and I cant actually have two at a time(I love them so much). The deli hours are restrictive else i would have love to have the sandwiches for dinner as well. I also like egg sandwich and grilled chicken sandwich. Definitely a must try. I dream of this sandwich whenever I am hungry: P

This unassuming little deli is a gem! The staff(mom, dad, and daughter-?) are friendly and helpful. When we told him it was our first visit, the man taking orders was happy to make a recommendation. We took his advice and I am so glad we did because the chicken salad is GREAT! It’s so yummy, I came back for more two days later! They sell the typical variation of deli sandwiches including pastrami, turkey, ham, and cheesesteak. The sandwiches cost $ 5.49, a large container of chicken salad costs approximately $ 7.00, and they also serve soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. The deli is tiny and it’s only open Monday through Friday from 9am to 2pm so plan to come here for lunch one day. Don’t be turned off by the shabby strip mall it’s in. It’s directly off of Capital Blvd. and totally worth the trip!

The chicken salad is literally one of the best I’ve ever had. I don’t like chicken salad that’s sweet or has nuts and cranberries. This had none of that. It had a slight taste of curry which really added something to the flavor. I also had a small portion of the potato salad which was also amazing. You can definitely tell that everything is made there and is not coming out of any buckets or jars.

The Lunch Box Deli is a small place just off Capital. the food was fresh, the service friendly, the food prepared quickly. While there, several customers cam in for pick up of orders called in. Most people seemed like regulars. I’ll be among them. Great place for a quick taste sandwich.

I had a bad experience here on my only visit. The chicken salad was not fresh tasting and it was overpowering with curry, and I usually like curry! Over $ 8 for a chicken salad sandwich, chips, and drink. I asked for toasted pita bread per one reviewer’s recommendation and it was just thin and stale tasting. I really wanted to like this place. :(

I love the folks that own the place and the food is always perfect! The egg salad and chicken salad are my most favorite but I enjoy soups and chili too here on occasion. It’s small inside but I always find the perfect time to come in is after the lunch rush(I go about 1:00). Always pleasant place for lunch.

Best chicken salad in Raleigh. Try it on toasted pita. The owners are super nice people. After a couple of visits, you’ll be part of the Lunch Box family. Eat local. You won’t be disappointed.

I finally tried the Lunch Box Deli! I kept hearing my coworkers talk about it. I’m really picky about my chicken salad. But after my coworker told me that it was«probably Top 5 chicken salads» in Raleigh, I had to try it. It did not disappoint! The chicken salad is creamy and savory, which is what I like. I can definitely taste the curry. Yum! You can choose whatever bread you want it on, or just have it on lettuce. I chose the«roll» which is a hoagie roll. They have white or wheat. I also had the small portion pasta salad which was delish. I was grateful that it didn’t have any feta cheese and it wasn’t tangy! The cookie was also good. I’m not quite sure it if it was homemade. The star really was the chicken salad, and the customer service! The owners were sweeties.

Very good lunch spot and affordable. The owner was extremely friendly too. Good Reuben with fresh cooked corn beef. Yum. The homemade potato salad was very good too and I’m picky about potato salad. I rarely order it because most places it’s store bought and either too sweet or too much mustard. This one was«just right»(to quote Goldilocks). Can’t wait to go back and try the fresh cooked roast beef next. I only wish they were open on Saturdays.

Tasty, reasonably priced sandwiches from a very pleasant shop owner. On the down side, it looks a bit seedy and the tables are sticky. Despite that, I would definitely come again.

The food is just wonderful… try their lunch salad… A fresh chef salad with side of chicken salad as well as pasta salad with their house dressing. it’s the best. The staff is super freindly and try their home made soups!

Convenient to Capital Boulevard and inexpensive. Very warm, homey atmosphere; owners are very pleasant. Kept reading reviews about the chicken salad so finally got it and was good; wasn’t expecting the curry flavor but it was a nice change-of-pace from traditional chicken salad. Other sandwiches I’ve had from here were fairly plain-jane though. Stick with the signature chicken salad and give it a try. FYI — only takes Debit Cards on orders over $ 7.00 though.

Lunch Box Deli is a gem. The sandwich offerings are plentiful but we took the owner’s advice and got the chicken salad. The chicken salad was heavenly — great texture and great flavor. I liked that there is a touch of curry. I’m trying to avoid wheat so I was able to get the chicken salad on top of lettuce with tomatoes. My friend got the chicken salad in the grilled pita and she said it was great! We had our kids with us and although they were a little noisy at times, we didn’t feel like we were bothering anyone. Such friendly people own this establish and I suggest that you check it out. The potato salad was very good too. My daughter really enjoyed her chocolate chip cookie. Check this place out. It’s a great destination for lunch!

The aroma that welcomes you as you walk through the door is something you expect from your grandmother’s kitchen. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu(I’m a fan of the chicken salad! Yum!). The homemade soups are only available seasonally(until the end of March), so indulge while you can.
