Moxie Pest Control

I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 only because I just got my first treatment today and I have to see how well it works. The employees I have dealt with from the company have all been 5 stars. They were professional, dressed well and very respectful. I’m expecting good things to come.

I am long time customer with an ongoing pest control contract with Moxie. I will be terminating it immediately. I have been getting the run around for almost a week about what I need to do to get a one time treatment on a rental property I own. If you call the office the people that answer are very polite but they have no idea what is going on. I was told I have to talk to the sales department to re-​order the same service as last time. Then when calling the office was told they are all in a «meeting», then they do not call back for almost 24 hours. If you miss the call you can not get ahold of them when you call back to the office. I was told by the sales rep that since I am not doing an ongoing contract on that property I would have to pay TWICE as much as it cost for the same one time treatment one year ago. This would have been find if I had been told this the first time I called but after getting the run around all week I am more pissed off about my time being wasted. The reason this business has one star is crappy customer service. They have historically been very responsive but have obviously gone downhill, it appears the problem is in the office not the guys who come out to the houses but you have to call the office to get the guys out to your house which means you can not get any help.

We have used this company for almost a year, and seen reduction in some pests but new pests appeared, and even thought they offer to retreat the area for free, the pests never leave completely .
Besides that, you can not cancel your contract nor take care of the cancellation until they have delivered the last service, which mean that if you forget to call them right after they leave your house you get automatically renewed.
I have never deal with a company that acted like this, very unhappy with the service!

I feel for the sales pitch and not VERY DISAPPOINTED! I came home to find the receipt for the pre-​scheduled follow up visit. It stated what the tech did. However, when I walked the perimeter, I didn’t see any «granules» on the ground as stated. I have very thin, or no grass, so it is very easy to see if granules are present. Plus every last web was still in the exact same place I noted the day before since I knew they were coming. I have no idea what was actually done. So far, not happy with the service or cost of this plan and at this point I wouldn’t recommend Moxie Pest Control. My old service provider was cheaper and I could tell when they had been here.

I, just like others, was accosted by the door to door salesman this evening. The young man was very pushy and aggressive with the sales pitch. I myself work in sales, so I try to give the utmost respect and patience with sales people. Sales are much more effective if you actually listen to people rather then telling. He did not introduce himself or ask if I had the time to talk. Telling potential customers how what your currently doing is wrong or bad will probably leave an impression of aggression. He was even telling me to follow him around my house to show me how bad things are. After multiple times of saying I wasn’t interested he then gave me a condescending «Good luck» as he walked off. This company should really try to be courteous and learn a few tricks on how to sell like listening and asking questions rather then trying to force a sale down someone’s throat. «Good luck» with your sales approach.

As others have indicated, this company is using pushy door to door salesmen that don’t leave when asked and lie. I’ve solicited feedback from other neighbors, the salesmen have dishonestly used neighbors names as customers to provoke interest. Advice — focus on your services and get referrals for business based on sound business practices instead of using scare tactics.

For the last four months or so we have been customers. At first we signed up as a neighbor recommended them for quarterly service. They have done exactly as promised, even coming out at no charge when we noticed some ants outside that had returned. The best though was during the standard quarterly service about two weeks ago our technician came to the house introduced himself asked if there were any issues and said he would return at the end of treatment to advise. I told him no need to return as we had a newborn sleeping (3 days old) he congratulated us and even left a note on the receipt of congratulations! How nice! The stellar part happened about four days later… A hand written note from he company as well as a onesie for the baby! Excellent customer service that goes above and beyond. I’m very impressed!

I’d like to echo some of the other reviews here said about at least one pushy and rude sales guy who showed up on my door this afternoon. I tried to be polite when answering the door during my kids’ nap time, despite him having woken them up. I tried to quickly say, «No thanks, I’m not interested». He then started in on his pitch to talk about how crappy my current company probably was, I cut him off, repeated my lack of interest, and mentioned that our neighborhood had no soliciting signs at the entrances which a respectable vendor would honor. He pointed to the ID on his belt and got sanctimonious about his right to be there. I agreed that he may have a right to do it, but if he was actually interested in earning respect and business from people in my neighborhood, then he might want to consider respecting our signs and privacy and just send a piece of mail via USPS. He clearly didn’t like being put in his place, and he ignored me the rest of the way off my property, without so much as a goodbye, let alone an apology. Needless to say, if this is what Moxie’s idea of a good first impression is, I hate to think of what they’re like once they actually get somebody’s business.

I would never ever use this company. A young man showed up at my door around dinner time yesterday evening. My 6 year old son answered the door thinking it was his daddy who had been away on business for most of the week. I was tube feeding my disabled daughter. When I realized it was a salesman at the door, I stopped the feeding with hopes of quickly getting rid of him. HE WOULD NOT LEAVE! I did my most polite «we are happy with who we use» «my kids need my attention» etc. and finally just began to not pay attention to him in hopes he would get the hint. He went on and on about going to church with the owners of the pest company we currently use and, therefore, being an expert on what they offer in comparison to Moxie’s services. The company we use is great and I had no interest in hearing the comparison! I even started cracking jokes to try to get rid of him. Admittedly, I should have just said I wasn’t interested — but I am a chicken like that and couldn’t bring myself to say anything. Instead, I used the housewife copout and told him he would have to talk to my husband. Well apparently he was stalking my driveway because the minute my husband walked in the doorbell rang. My husband is much more direct than me and simply told him he just got home, wants to be with his family, and is not interested. I listened as the Moxie salesman disregarded my husband’s request and pushed more and more to complete his pitch. It was cringeworthy and inappropriate. My husband called for company to tell them their sales approach is broken. Beware of the innocent looking Moxie guy ringing your doorbell!

I am very done with this company. We have been with Moxie for over 2 years now, and I am switching to Bulwark today. We bought a brand new house and hired Moxie for our pest control right away because the day we moved in we noticed a few ants on the counter tops in the kitchen. They came out and sprayed inside the outlets in the kitchen because this is where they thought they were coming from. They told us, and you can also see this listed on their website, that we just needed to kill the colony so they don’t come back. Well about a year later, and I see them on the counters again. At this point, I must mention, we have a very clean house. We don’t leave food out on the countertops, and we have our house professionally cleaned bi-​weekly. So, they came and sprayed again. About 8 moths later, they are back, and Moxie comes to spray again. Well yesterday, about 2 days after their quarterly outside spraying, the ants are back. I am so frustrated. I can’t even be in the kitchen when ants are crawling ON THE COUNTERS! They obviously never killed this colony, and I am so upset about it. Today is Tuesday and my husband called to ask them to come out and take of this. The earliest they can come is Friday at 2pm. Friday! I cannot believe they expect me to have ants crawling on the countertops for the rest of the week. My husband called back and said we really needed someone sooner, and he said there was nothing we could do. We told him that would call another pest company to take care of it, and we would no longer use them, and they said okay. My parents use Bulwark, and they have always come out next day, no hassle, if they ever saw a bug. My husband is on the phone switching now. I suggest Bulwark or Economy Exterminators.

Yes, I’m a crabby old lady who doesn’t like solicitors just showing up on my doorstep, but I’m a crabby old lady who can find her own darn bug guys (and already did)
I had these fools ring my doorbell just now. I answered the door politely and told their representative (who smelled strongly of chemicals) to go away. I informed him that if he stayed, he would be tresspassing.
He didn’t leave and started the hard sell. Flat out lied about providing services for my neighbors. Refused second request to get off my porch.
He finally left after I «offered» to call the police

I would not recommend this pest company. I have used other companies when I lived in other states and never had to call them between service times to come back because we had issues. We have a very clean and well-​maintained home so there is no reason why we should have any problem doing quarterly services. I also did not like how they would just show up and spray only the outside if we were not at home when I did not agree on a time for them to come by-​this caused for me having to call them and schedule a time to come back and spray the inside. When I went to cancel the service I was told they had to do another spray before they would cancel because it was time for my quarterly. This is ridiculous and very poor customer service. The lady I spoke to on the phone did not care that we were discontinuing our service or that we have had problems with their service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU TO USE MOXIE UNLESS YOU WANT TO WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Today two young Moxie Pest Control «salesmen» knocked at my door in Cary, NC. The main «salesperson» was a young guy with a very zealous attitude even though he looked barely college age. I have no doubt he will do well in his field being as that he was so confident and pushy. He wasn’t rude, but he was very pushy and was practically inside my door by the end of his pitch even though I explained that we already have another local company we use. He asked me twice to sign papers even though I said I was happy with my current company. Then he said he would be back later to talk to my husband. I know that these sales tactics work for sales, but it’s an enormous turn off for me as a consumer to feel completely pressured by a stranger when I’m home tending to my kids. I would never use this company because the approach is very pushy and not respectful. Again, the kid himself wasn’t a jerk, it’s just that the approach was all wrong in my opinion for today’s times. I don’t like feeling forced into something when I’m home alone with my young kids. The only reason I answered the door at all was because I was expecting a delivery. Regardless, I would not want to feel that way being approached in my yard while out with my kids on a nice day. I felt like I had to draw the curtains and hide. Had he been less aggressive I may have considered the service, but there’s no way I would now.
I had to come back on today to add to my review… last night the salesman returned at 6:50pm! I hadn’t even had a chance to tell my husband about his visit yet earlier in the day. Instead of knocking on our door he came around the back of our house where we were having dinner with our kids! I couldn’t believe it! He walked right up onto our porch where we were eating and started pitching his sale to my husband. In the middle of our meal. I’m still in shock. I’ve never seen a salesperson who thought it was acceptable to come into someone’s private backyard space. The way I was raised you knock on the door. If there is no answer that is NOT an open invatation to walk around the back of someone’s house during dinnertime. I took my daughters inside while he talked to my husband… then I heard him ask my husband for a glass of water… obviously a tatic to buy him more time. My husband came in and looked at me like «what the hell??» …we both couldn’t believe this guy. My husband went back out and had to tell him THREE times that we were not interested. Then he told him never to walk around to the back of our property again and to leave. He told my husband he thought it was ok because «he heard voices.» What? Is nothing sacred?
I’ve never posted a review before but I’m going to share this one. I would never use this company simply because of how unprofessional they are. I don’t care how fabulous their pest control is. I would rather have a black widow in my house than that guy on my back porch again. Had I been eating outside alone with my kids I would have felt threatened by this guy’s approach. Moxie Pest needs to tell its employees to tone down their tatics. It’s ridiculous.

Russ came by last week for our quarterly service. He was very friendly and knew a lot about how to spot problem areas. He spent extra time checking out our basement bathroom to figure out the best way to treat our silverfish issue. After our treatment, we saw a few bugs later that afternoon dying and none since. Moxie offers a great service and Russ was a top notch representative of the brand.

Same as the others. Young blue-​eyed man appeared at the door and despite my telling him repeatedly I wasn’t interested, he flatly refused to stop pushing. I finally resorted to asking him what part of ‘not interested’ could he not understand, and then shut the door (and bolted it) in his face.
This kind of tactic is a red flag indicative of a serious problem. Reputable companies with great products do not have to resort to this kind of behavior.

Sales person from Moxie rang the doorbell at 8:30pm to sell pest control services, I explained that we didn’t want the service and to please leave, he said no, I asked him to leave the property, he said he’d treat the property anyway, I said no he wouldn’t and to leave my property now, he wouldn’t leave so I had to call the police.

It’s that time of year again and I’ll be honest, I’m already looking for Moxie Pest Control trucks to come by and help me with my Pest Control problem. It’s as if no matter what I do each spring the ants find their way to my kitchen sink.
I use to have success with getting rid of them with just a trap here or there but now it’s as if my house was over-​run with super ants. I needed the help of Moxie to get rid of the problem.
Moxie was great, even though they found me by going door to door before I needed them, when I did I gave their sales rep a call and asked them to send someone out. They were quick and efficient and treated all over the house (I had been focusing my efforts just around where I saw the ants) and it seems to really have solved the problem.
I’m signed up for quarterly treatments now, the only way Moxie really does services, but I guess that’s okay because the problem comes back every year. Hopefully this won’t be the case now that I have someone treating the house regularly. And I guess if it is, I just call the people here to help me get rid of them.

I knew when Russ showed up at my door with his «bug vision» goggles, pests were in trouble! Russ was very courteous and knowledgeable. He addressed all my concerns and checked everything I asked. I was concerned about my furniture being so old that maybe it was infested. I also have a cat and dog who had been to the vet on numerous occasions because my daughter had complained about being bit by something. Russ checked out everything as assured me that nothing was lurking about! Even though I’m renting, I felt that having the consistent protection of services would prevent any further concerns! I have no other company to compare but so far we’ve been pleased with the service from both the sales rep (Vincent) & the service rep (Dan). Both were extremely professional and knowledgeable.

Not a fan of the door to door sales tactics. I had been looking for a pest control company that would do Saturday appointments (rather than a window of time in which they would show up) and the sales guy assured me they would be there AT 1:30. He was aware that this was the reason I was choosing Moxie, was that I could get an appointment on a Saturday rather than a window.
Needless to say, I was very disappointed when the techs showed up late and advised that the sales guy had written 1:30 — 3:30 on the paperwork while assuring me multiple times that they would be there AT 1:30. However, if I wanted a company that offers a window of time, I would go with someone cheaper that offers termite service.
Also — this just seemed weird — the sales guy said they don’t do any termite services, they don’t check for termites and they don’t spray for termites. I went on their website and it says they do offer termite service. That seems really strange.
