I always have a wonderful experience here. They have a great selection and an extremely friendly and helpful staff. Thanks for everything! Plus, they are Shop Local Raleigh members:).

I go here a lot often to buy one bolt, one tool, one screw, etc. They’re always really nice and help me find exactly what I need even though its probably obvious I’m not going to be spending a lot of money. It feel like a neighborhood shop!

The service is consistently good and the people are friendly. Bought a piece of glass on Saturday and had to hit the brakes on the way home to avoid a confused pedestrian. The new glass slide off the seat and cracked. Returned to Ace a few minutes later and they cut a new piece of glass at no charge.
Thanks, guys, made my day.

My husband and I visited this store recently since we just moved to the downtown area. We tried for 25 minutes to get someone to help us and eventually just left. Need more knowledgeable/​present employees.

Finding someone to help you at this Ace can be hit or miss, mostly hit… and that it my only complaint.
When you do have someone helping you, they are nice, knowledgeable, and seem happy to help.
The inventory is varied but limited, but the staff will happily order any item they don’t have in stock. For basic, «work around the house» supplies, you should be covered.

I had a great experience at Ace shopping for the Big Green Egg grill. Michael was extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
I wanted to surprise a friend with the grill as a gift that evening. Instead of just helping me pack the extremely heavy items in my car, Michael volunteered to immediately deliver everything himself.
I accidentally left the charcoal at Ace and Michael went back to get it and then delivered it on his way home. That’s the kind of memorable service that makes me a loyal customer.

While lacking the mind-​numbing selection of a massive bog-​box store like Lowe’s or Home Depot, Ace Hardware is filled with the little things that are vital to any project or improvement task from dust masks to paint, unusually-​sized screws to sheets of metal, and more — if you need a key cut right away or want a retro soda to cool off, Ace is the place! I’ve found the service in-​store to be knowledgeable about the products they carry and helpful but not hover-​y, though occasionally a cashier or two has given the impression that they’d rather close their hand in a door than deal with another customer that day (which may say more about customer attitudes!). Parking can sometimes be difficult and you’ve got to keep an eye out for Crossfitters running madly through the lot from time to time, but overall Ace offers a good level of convenience, competitive pricing, and selection for what’s essentially the only hardware store in the downtown area. When I need that one little odd thing to complete a project, Ace is where I usually head first.

I’m a little torn. It is really convenient for me to get there. Everyone there is super friendly. It is never super crowded. There is free popcorn for crying out loud!
But…
It took me two tries to get a key made correctly. I really didn’t want to keep going back to get a new one. Especially on a rainy Sunday. It just simply didn’t work in my front door.
Finally I did get one that worked. And in addition to that, I tried to get my mailbox key duplicated and they said «sorry we don’t have a key that size». I thought this was strange. I should have asked again every time I went back to get the first one fixed. It was a different person every time. But I didn’t remember to ask again– I was too intent on getting the ONE key working.
So, I guess I will come back out of sheer convenience and friendly service. But I really don’t know if I would come here for keys again.

I’d love to write a booming review about this place, but it’s a bit difficult when the customer service is lacking. Ace Hardware in Seaboard Station is JUST what downtown Raleigh needed! It’s extremely convenient and they have ample parking. For a small store, they have just about everything you need– and they’re competitively priced. Because their inventory is small, they don’t offer multiple brands of the same product, but they have about one of everything.
I went in for a concrete masonry caulking last Saturday afternoon. Though there were about 6 workers standing around goofing off, none of them offered to help me. I found the aisle I needed but couldn’t locate the exact product I was looking for, so I searched for help. The first 2 guys couldn’t find it either, so they called for another staff member. He walked up to the bin where it was at, but it was filled with many other incorrect products. He dug to the bottom of the bin & grabbed the product I was looking for and slung it back in the bin, then rolled his eyes at his colleagues (and me) and told them «Look a little harder next time». I’m not sure what his issue was, but he needed to fix it!
Though I love the location, I must say that the customer service is lacking… I’ll come here for my last minute needs but won’t be making my routine hardware store trips at this Ace Hardware.

I always have a great experience at this Ace Hardware. You can always expect good service and someone on the floor to attend to you when you enter an Ace Hardware, but at this particular location they take their service a step further. When you enter this location, you will be not only greeted and directed to what you’re looking for– they will take you there, help you find what you’re looking for, and make sure you’re satisfied with the result. Whenever I have keys copied here, they take my key for me at the door, copy it, let me shop, and bring the keys back to me. Exceptional service. Every time. The employees are super nice, too.
The only negative thing I can say about this store is that they don’t carry as many garden options because they are right next to a large plant and garden store (Logan Trading Co.) — however, Logan Trading Co. has much shorter hours. I went in to the Seaboard Ace Hardware location once to find seeds for sunflowers. I was directed to the very small seed section and told they do not want to compete with Logan so they don’t carry much garden stock. It was past 6 pm and Logan Trading Co. was already closed for the day, so I was not able to find what I was looking for (Mammoth Sunflower seeds.) Other Ace Hardware locations generally have larger gardening sections and I can generally find basics like that. Still, I can’t complain too much — this place, overall, totally rocks.

Full of people who will stop you when you enter, ask you what you’re looking for and be able to tell you which SHELF it’s on. When you get there, someone else will magically appear and start informing you of the various options. Talk about quick shopping for household needs. You might pay marginally more than a big home improvement store, but the service more than outweighs this cost.
Also, on one magical day, they had live chicks for sale. So cute.

Stopped by Seaboard Ace Hardware while visiting Raleigh. Beautiful store, great pricing, has everything you need and the staff is so knowledgeable, personable and helpful in advising on what you need for your projects, small and large.
I highly recommend Seaboard Ace Hardware for not only your hardware needs but things for your home, holiday decorations and gifts. Plus the array of «old soda drinks» is so fun… and delicious!

Such a fan of the Ace Hardware brand and stores, fortunately, the Seaboard Station Ace is not different.
Ace is for almost all hardware needs but mainly for things like paint, light bulbs, garden needs, hubs goes for tools, etc. We would rather go to Ace rather than the big box stores and here is why:
1. When you walk in, you don’t even have to look around for the aisle you need because there is ALWAYS a staff member asking you for what you are shopping for and they walk you to it and help you get what you need.
2. There is NEVER a wait at the front registers because staff will walk you to another register to check you out.
3. They have a popcorn machine and you can leave with a free bag… FREE POPCORN!!!
The only thing that sort of bumbs me out is that I really do not know what all they sell because it is uncomfortable to browse. The staff members are so on top of it that I feel awkward roaming around the store looking at things because they always ask what else you need. It’s a shame that my negative is that they are attentive but a girl likes to browse sometimes.
Love supporting my local Ace, especially since it is supporting the smaller business!

Seaboard Ace Hardware is the most convenient home supply store for downtown residents located in The Seaboard Station. You can’t see the store from Peace Street or Halifax Street so just drive into the shopping center and you will find it near the back next door to O2 Fitness and across the street from Logans. I hesitate to call Ace Hardware small because it may give a negative connotation especially in the age of HUGE home supply stores like Home Depot and Lowes. I prefer ‘right-​size’ because it’s the perfect size for the neighborhood. You won’t be able to find supplies for an add-​on or a major renovation of your home but it’s a place where you can easily stop in to pick up the things you need to maintain your home. And speaking of neighborhood-​ness, the staff at this location are super friendly and incredibly helpful. There are always 1 or 2 employees standing near the front of the store to greet you and help you find what you need or give a word of advice on a project. Since I moved into a new condo a few years ago, my home doesn’t require a lot of maintenance but I have always found what I need at Seaboard Ace… things like air filters, recessed light bulbs, watering cans, outdoor thermometer, and paint and all the supplies for paint projects. They are a supplier of Benjamin Moore Paints. For the 2 large flowerpots on my balcony, I can pick up a bag of soil at Ace. They also sell all the items for lawn care such as bags of mulch, fertilizer, and seed. They have equipment for cutting keys. Even though they have a very large selection of keys, they didn’t have the right key to match the one for my mailbox. (I wanted an extra key to give to my pet sitter.) The employee was very apologetic and gave me a recommendation for a place close by that would have the exact key for me. At the check-​out counter, the employee went through a file and found the card for the business they recommended and even gave me details instructions on how to get there. Wow, that’s great service! For our 4-​legged friends Seaboard Ace has a large bowl of water at the exit and for the humans they offer free popcorn to enjoy on your short walk or drive home.

This place is like the Cheer’s of hardware stores. Everyone will know your name… well, maybe not your name but they will know precisely which isle every single thing in that store is on… and they’ll tell you with a smile. I love supporting smaller stores like this as opposed to the giant Home Depot’s, etc. They really have anything you need: air filters, cleaning supplies including the full range of Meyer’s products, kitchen faucets, heck they even have greeting cards. They’re also a retailer for Benjamin Moore paints! Whatever your buying needs are, stop in here first… chances are they’ll have it! AND — when you’re done here, pop in to the wine shop next door.

This hardware store is tucked in behind Seaboard Station and is the definition of a «hidden gem». I’m not a big fan of HUGE hardware stores. I always have to walk considerable distances to get to the things I need. I’m my own handyman, but I don’t take on huge projects so I don’t need a huge store. This smaller location is perfect for what I need.
That said, I’m normally looking for nuts/​bolts/​small tools, and the occasional duplicate key. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and asked if I needed help finding anything. This store has great awareness of their customers!
If you need a key made quick and fast and friendly service, this Ace location is perfect for you.

Normally I wouldn’t write a review for a hardware store, but tonight I went in to get a key made. I was greeted and a nice man asked if I needed help. I told him I was just getting a key and he took it and went back to the counter and got it for me. I went to check out and the cashier was also extraordinarily pleasant. My little trip that I was dreading turned into a completely pleasant experience. Thanks Ace for being so sweet.

Seaboard Ace is a great hardware store located in the city. It’s nice stepping into a hardware store and being able to have a personal experience (unlike some of their larger counterparts). The staff is friendly and super-​friendly. Not only that, they have a wonderful, little section for kitchen & canning supplies. They also offer to order any canning supplies that you need that they may not have in stock.
It’s some good, old-​fashioned customer service!

I always go to Lowe’s and Home Depot and end up walking miles and miles. Ace Hardware at Seaboard Station has everything I need in a much smaller shop!
Seriously – once I needed padded mailers and sharpies, and Ace had them! They even have ice cream by the checkout. So, if you’re frustrated with some DIY project at home, grab a popsicle. Actually, just get one anyway. Popsicles make everything better. Oh, and as Ron said, make sure to get some free popcorn too!
There are plenty of employees here to help you out. I got asked at least three times if I needed help finding anything.
Ace might not have 50 shower heads to choose from, or a whole array or refrigerators — but, if you’re like me, they have everything you need at reasonable prices. Air filters, nails/​hooks, batteries, electric tape, and gardening supplies are all here! Go to Ace.

I’ve lived in the area for three years and never really noticed Ace Hardware over at Seaboard Station! I guess I sort of got used to big box HW stores like Home Depot and Lowes and pooh-​poohed the thought of going to an old school place. But you know what? Ace Hardware is great! Especially for fix-​it and decorating type items, they just don’t have space for major construction project stuff. But Ace Hardware at Seaboard is plenty big inside and great service-​wise. Garden items, paint, screws, nuts, key cutting, they got it all here. And every time I visit an employee checks to see if I need help, stat!
It’s not fancy, it’s not big but it’ll save you some miles if you need items for a home project, Prices are decent so you don’t feel as if you’re getting ripped off for the convenience of shopping in downtown Raleigh. So nice job Ace Hardware for being über-​handy and accessible. Your selection, service and prices make Ace Hardware a great choice if you don’t want to do big-​box hardware stores. And don’t miss out their free popcorn at the door, bonus!
