Paula did my eyebrow wax– and she did a good job. Asked if I liked my service and if I wanted an alterations to my brows.
Front desk could use some boosts in energy and relaxation room could use different tea options and snacks. Other than that… Good.
Was so scared coming here after reading other poor reviews– so wanted to add a positive one.

I have been trying for hours to get in touch with this location to make an appointment. They are «unavailable» and do not return messages. I called the Brier Creek location and had no problems getting in touch. Brier Creek transferred me, still no answer. After countless phone calls throughout the day and 4 unreturned messages, I’ve given up trying to throw my $$ away at this business! I’ll go elsewhere!

I can see both sides of the good and bad reviews. I have used the Spa for years and have had more good experiences than bad. The worst one was when there were bad storms and they lost power completely. My husband and I had just had a couples massage and we had to fumble around in the dark trying to get back to the changing rooms and find our things. We were the only ones in the place that time and I thought they’d closed up and forgotten us! That wasn’t their fault though, just weather issues.
Since then we’ve had couples massages on special occasions and have enjoyed every one up to this week. The staff have been friendly (and they don’t know us well because there’s been quite a change over the years). This week we had a couples massage but my masseuse did things very differently to all the ones I’ve had before and I found it weird. I asked for concentration on neck and back (which I always do) but part way through as I was face down he started pulling open my legs and pushing my heels against my butt cheeks as if I was at the gym. It was very different to anything I’ve had before and I didn’t like it. I’ve had different masseuses before, male and female, who have worked on the glueus but this seemed unusual.
I called to discuss the above but no one replied. I called again today and asked for a manager. She called me back and brushed it all off dismissively. I do like the spa but have asked her to mark my notes never to have that person again and would encourage people to check exactly what the masseuses are going to do beforehand as I had specified neck and back.

If I could give this place NO stars I would.
Purchased one of the salt cave Groupons (4 visits to the salt cave). So decided to go ahead and book my mom and myself our first appointment for the salt cave. The booking was the easiest part…
We arrived to the spa on a saturday. Stood in line and waited our turn to speak to one of the front desk associates. Now mind you we are already in a relaxed state of mind knowing that we would be going to the cave. So we greet them with a smile as we thought we would be too. The front desk seemed to busy to acknowledge us properly, she quickly got our stuff together and said to follow her… she leads us to the «locker room» this room is extremely small. All complete with a sauna crammed in the middle of it, 2 bathrooms, shower stalls, sink and maybe like 10 – 15 lockers. Now when the locker room is packed you are literally sliding and dancing around other women. We are told to wait in the lounge room. All the seats and blankets were taken so we had to share the end of a seat…
We get called back to the cave. The cave is nice. Salt is on the ground like sand at a beach. They seat you in these reclining seats almost like beach chairs. It was okay didn’t really feel the benefit of it.
As we checked out I showed the receptionist my Groupon voucher. She looks at it and I ask her is it anywhere in the system that we would still have 1 more visit. She said she would enter in their system for our next and final visit for the cave. A lady sitting behind the receptionist then says, that we would have to use all of our visits during one session. I’m like what ?!! Where does it say that at? She said the fine print. I pull up the Groupon and it’s no where to be found. Even show her on my phone. Her attitude calms down once she realizes it doesn’t show that and she says «oh this must be the older one not the new one»…after upsetting me and my mom with misinformation after we attempted to relax in this spa this is the LAST thing we wanted to go through even if we were right. This lady didn’t apologize for disturbing the peace in our transaction out of this spa.
Few days later called and spoke to the manager after having to call back twice because of long hold times. The rep tried to put me on hold again after waiting 10 mins. I refused and demanded to speak to a manager. This place is ridiculously priced with terrible service to the customers who pay… The manager gets on the phone and she was informed of the situation she apologized but it was NOT genuine. She was in a rush and basically wanted to get me off the phone even when I expressed my concern she kept saying ma’am we took care of it. I got fed up and said thanks and bye. Will not recommend this place to anyone.
WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE TO BE A «SPA». Save your hard earned money and go elsewhere where you are appreciated…

]This was a dreadful experience. I booked the appointment on the same day. When I was checked in, no one thought to see if the therapist was around. After 20 minutes I found someone to ask and it was a further 10 minutes before I was told (with no apology) that the therapist didn’t know she had me at 1pm and that she wasn’t around. Another therapist was called in and kindly came so my appointment started 45 minutes late. Unfortunately my therapist did not seem experienced in deep tissue massage and my appointment was mainly relaxing/​stroking which was not why I needed the appointment. When I checked out, there was again no apology for my wait and I was told I would get a 10% discount. And that was as much as they could offer me. This is appalling since the error was their fault not mine. I am extremely disappointed. This used to be a good place to go for treatments. I expect much better front desk treatment and better therapists at Skin Sense. What’s going on?

First of all, the wait time on the phone on hold is unacceptable. I was on the phone — on HOLD– two different times for over 20 minutes.
Secondly, I have not been there in a while and I actually now recall why. For some reason the quality of service just doesn’t seem to be what it used to be a long ago… And I literally am only talking about the front desk at this point.
I have a receptionist assuming I’m saying things I’m not, I suppose it is due to lack of listening skills or training. There is no directions as a new person as to use of the sauna, you kind of left to your own devices, they did not have my size slippers to wear… I actually feel compassion for the service people such as massage therapists and estheticians– I am sure many of us «guests» are quite stressed out by the time we get past our formal booking experience etc. For a place that is supposed to be offering relaxation call him and he stressing, I strongly suggest a rearrangement of how they are presenting themselves on the phone as well as upon entering.
A guest also used to be able to sign into the website and look for a daily deal. I do not see where this is made known or, where this is easy to find, if it’s even still is functioning.
With so many competing businesses offering similar services, I would think that this North Raleigh location would want to analyze and decide if there should be some rearranging so that they could get back to the basics of allowing guests to feel pampered again.

Gross. Gross. Gross. The entire spa seems to be covered in a layer of dust and grime. Locker room is filthy with trash cans overflowing and dirty robes and slippers strewn about. My feet stuck to the floor in the massage room. Just gross. Not worth the money you charge and I won’t be coming back.

It was with great interest that I read the other reviews for skin sense. I had also found with my last two visits some of the service going downhill. However, I have recently found that I was treated to a great experience. I absolutely love the salt cave even though someone in another review said they could nap at home. I feel guilty napping at home, and this is the perfect excuse for me to relax. I also enjoy going into the relaxation room, and after I have been in the salt cave going into the steam room. I will definitely go again.

I gave it 2 stars the massage was good however the place is VERY dirty!!! The salt cave was too hot. I’ve been to a few different salt caves and the temp is suppose to be cool to help with the Himalayan salt rocks and the air. In the relaxation room there was no cups for water or tea, and no fruit to snack on. The water looked old an had extremely wilted cucumbers you can tell had been there a while. The Robes were very worn an discolored. The soap in the restroom was diluted with water. You’d be better off not washing your hands. The bathrooms were DISGUSTING, and the sauna smelt like dirty feet and the toilet was cracked an had mold on the bottom of the floors. Then after our treatment they overcharged us an I had to tell the women she charged me for three massages instead of 2. I will not be returning. Save your money an go elsewhere!!!

I have been a Skin Sense customer for many years and for some reason this place is going steadily downhill. The treatments themselves are great, but it is the rest of the experience that needs work. Today, the amenities in the bathroom were not stocked, the shower was dirty and the tea urn was gone and replaced by a hot pot that did not keep the tea hot. Not at all what I expect.
I don’t know if Skin Sense is under new management or what, but it is definitely not up to par and not what it used to be. Will be going elsewhere even though this is close to my home.

Before I start on reviewing the service I went to Skin Sense for I would like to rate the facility and the staff.
The facility is gorgeous. They have a really nice relaxation room with comfy couches blankets, dim lights, cucumber water and delicious hot tea. Also the locker/​changing room is really nice. They have a steam room, showers, and products to use for getting redressed after your service. Four stars for facility.
The staff are super helpful and friendly. Upon entering I was greeting warmly, taken back to the changing room and shown the relaxation room. When it was time for my service, I was brought there and back by other sweet, caring staff. Really everyone I met during my visit offered to get me something if there was something I needed. This kind of service is exceptional. Five stars for staff.
Now onto my service. I bought a visit to the salt cave room. This is a special room that has been made to function and appear as a salt cave. I had seen the pictures prior to going, so I knew what I was going to. You sit in this room in a lounger (and a complimentary robe and socks) and for 45 minutes you sit there, taking in the relaxation and (perhaps) health benefits of being in this salt room. My experience was while first sitting in the room, borderline boring, maybe in a relaxing way for the first 5 minutes. Then my body took over and I had a good 40 minute nap. Proably more like 50 minutes because I think they left me in extra. Maybe they thought I needed some more relaxation. I felt great when I came out, but I always feel great after a 50 minute nap, whether it is on my couch, in my car, or on an airplane. So to sum up I do not think I’ll be returning to the salt cave room. I will definitly be returning to Skin Sense as I think this is a wonderful spa. One star for salt cave experience.

I called several weeks prior to schedule an appt for 2 people for my birthday. I called 2 days before my appt to confirm and they did not have the other person scheduled. I asked to speak with a manager and was told no managers were scheduled to work today. I received absolutely no empathy from Brianna and was told the person who scheduled my appt was new. Excuse after excuse was made for the employee but no consideration given to a loyal customer who had frequented the spa on several occasions. Thanks for ruining my birthday and providing absolutely no customer service.

I went to experience the salt cave today. Amazing experience I loved it and you really need to try it

I went here with a group of 10 ladies for my friend’s birthday party. She had reserved the salt cave for us. One of the girls who worked there let us have the conference room to put our bags in, and set up to have food and cupcakes, which was very nice. However, the girl who was guiding us around, wasn’t very helpful. She didn’t seem to know how to direct 10 girls around. She finally told us we needed to get into the salt cave because someone had it booked after us. (We had it scheduled for 3pm.) We asked if we could change into the robes, and she let us. By the time we got down to the salt cave, we did not get to spend the full 45 minutes in there. Which isn’t totally her fault, but there wasn’t a lot of communication to start with. Actually, the amount of time we spent in the salt cave was enough, because we didn’t feel like it was doing anything. The salt cave is a small, man-​made cave that contains 7 reclining chairs on top of pink salt. Some of the girls had to lay on blankets because there weren’t enough chairs. (To be fair, they did tell my friend that beforehand.) The girl came to get us when our time was up. We were told we could go back to the conference room or go to the sauna. I’m glad I was able to hang out with my friend for her birthday, but overall the salt cave and spa experience here wasn’t worth it. I’m glad we had all gotten a Groupon to try it out!

So, I brought my boyfriend here for a surprise for his birthday. He is pretty athletic. I had him originally booked for a 50 min facial but he opted for a massage. They allowed him to switch. He wanted the works so he added the stones and everything. She told him he needed to come more because she couldn’t unlock his muscles.
After leaving, he told me that it was ok but I did better massages at home. He stated that the masseuse was not a strong as he needed. He said she talked the entire time and he really did not like that at all. He said I could have kept my money. It was his birthday so I figured I would give it a try.
Front desk was very nice though…
Hope it’s a better experience for others.

First off, their Russian Tea is to DIE for. So good! I could have just sat in their relaxation room and sip tea all night!
I came in to Skin Sense with a gift card and coupon in hand in order to get my first massage. I wasn’t sure what to expect but the receptionist was very helpful and explained the process to me. She (nor the masseuse) was not pushy about buying extras which was very refreshing, instead they suggested a few things and then dropped it with a smile when I politely declined.
Once I was all checked in the girl took me to the back and showed me the amenities that I was free to use before and after my service. They have a very nice steam room and changing area (showers and lockers) as well as a relaxation room stocked with some fruit and the magical tea that I couldn’t get enough of. I ended up trying everything out and was very pleased with how nice it was all kept.
When it was time for the massage they took me back to a small room where the guy explained what would happen. At first I was a bit worried about having a guy masseuse, but he was great! He gave me a wonderful massage and talked through everything. I was very relaxed by the end of it!
I really hope to come back soon, though it will definitely have to be when i’m making more money! Without my coupon and gift card I would have been paying a pretty penny (though I suppose it’s about the same at all spas around the Triangle). It’s definitely worth the money if you have it though!

Very Polite and Professional Staff! The «Relaxation Room» is very nice!!! No «waiting» Room… The Relaxation Room is where you can Relax, before your appointment, between treatments, or as I did to Relax (hot Tea, dimly lit room with very comfortable furniture, nice Music! Very relaxing) as my Fiancée got a «Brazilian» for our Honeymoon Tomorrow!
I always thought a Brazilian was the OTHER side… ohhhhhps! This place was impressive for the prices. I expected much less and though this is not a «Luxury Spa» it is nice for the price!

I am a regular client. My appointments are every 4 – 5 weeks. I am never late and have never missed an appointment. I tip my service provider at least 35% each time because she is fabulous.
However, I missed one appointment and they charged me the full amount for my scheduled services. That means they keep my credit card information on file and those that work behind the desk or just have access to it are able to see my credit card number!!! I never authorized this charge. I never signed a credit card slip. I was never asked about this. To say the least I am disappointed and upset.
Skin Sense took it upon themselves to take money out of my service providers pocket each month because I will not return. Not only the commission from the service, but the gratuity that I leave will both be taken away from her because I cannot go back to a business that operates this way. Skin Sense must not have faith in their clients if they would rather take a one time fee from a missed appointment rather have my continued business each month.
On their website listed under their vision it states «After all, we have designed and developed our facilities, treatments, and attitude with you in mind.» It seems as though they have lost sight of this vision. When a company forsakes continued business for a one-​time fee, they have gone off track of putting the client first and considering their service providers book of business.
I also stated with the front desk that I was dissatisfied. I said that I wanted to speak with the manager who was not in. The manager never contacted me which would have avoided reviews online. It’s bad business all around.
Skin sense goes wrong with keeping my credit card information on file — which is not legal. Next they go wrong with not allowing for life to happen with these appointments. I understand if it is habitual or more than once, but one missed appointment and a full service charge is ridiculous.

I’ve been to all three Triangle-​area Skin Sense locations, but Falls of Neuse is my favorite.
Falls is the only one I’ve visited multiple times — twice within the past 6 months, in fact. I give the Falls and Cary locations 4 stars. Note: the last time I went to Cary was about 5 years ago. The Brier Creek location gets 2 stars (my first visit to the BC location was less than a month ago). Let me explain.
All of them have basically the same offerings — robes, slippers, steam room/​sauna, a relaxation room, plenty of hot Nannie’s Russian Tea (which is fantastic, I drink about a half-​gallon every time I visit), etc. I’ve had massages and pedis. The difference for me has been the following, and this is just my humble observation:
1) The robes at Falls seem fluffier and softer. Why is this? I mean, for me, it was noticeably different from Brier Creek. Did they get new robes at Falls recently and BC got the hand-​me-​downs?
2) The pedi room at Falls is intimate, relaxing, and has demure lighting. In contrast, the pedi room at Brier Creek is right along a main window, and even though I didn’t notice people outside, it just feels un-​quaint. Is that a word? It was too bright in that room. Also, the employee lounge was right in front of me as I was at the pedicure nail drying station. It was sort of disconcerting.
3) At the Falls location, the nail tech or one of the other workers kept my Russian Tea cup filled to the brim for me at all times. BIG POINTS FOR THAT, FALLS LOCATION! At BC, no one asked me if I needed or wanted anything. I had to trudge back to the relaxation room with half-​dry nails to get my own tea. I know, I know… I’m spoiled rotten. But hey, if you’re gonna pay this much $$$, they need to keep it tight.
4) So sorry, but the nail tech at BC (I’ll call her «L») was WAY too light when it came to sloughing off the dead skin off my feet. Sorry to be gross, but hey, a pedi is supposed to leave my feet soft — but not too soft. My feet felt rough again way too soon after that pedi. L was too gentle. I know it’s not supposed to hurt, but maybe she was tired? IDK. I just wish she had really scrubbed. At Falls, the tech went to town on my feet, but at the same time there was no pain. Also, at Falls she made a point of taking all the notes on me about what I liked (nail polish color, the tea, etc.) so they could try to sell it to me at checkout, which I think is an insightful practice. The BC pedi tech did not do this. AT ALL.
Four distinctions is enough. In a nutshell, I probably won’t go back to BC location, but I do plan to visit Falls again before the summer is over.
