Great service. More than one server assisted me with menu options; it made me really feel like they cared about my order. They also all helped me with my wine order and recommended the best wine to pair with my meal.

Some decent, and not so decent sushi @SushiOraleigh. I might return to this location, or I might not. Most of the sushi that I had here was decent, but I had one sushi roll with crab, and it tasted awful. I have had it at other locations, but it didn’t taste bad at other places. When I informed the server that something tasted wrong with the sushi, and that it couldn’t be consumed, her response was, «It is probably the crab.» So if my thought was the crab was bad before you said something, and the server thought the crab was bad too, then they would make it right. Well, they didn’t. Even after I sent the sushi back because it was inedible, I still got charged, and was not offered a replacement. That is poor customer service. That means that they will serve food they know is bad, and then after you mention it, then will not bother to fix it. The other sushi I had was decent. The location is on the small side, and if they have a crowd to come in, they will ask to slide your table over to make room for others. #398

Sushi is pretty good, but I wouldn’t say out of this world. It’s one of the better downtown spots and most of its business is due to its convenient location.

It’s high time I updated this review. I’ve seen many restaurants come and go on Glenwood South, but Sushi O has eclipsed 5+ years with steady/repeat business. We ventured back for a double date Sunday night. Knowing their clientele, they have drink specials every night of the week and a very extensive menu. Phở, thai, hibachi, sushi, you name it. The only thing they are lacking is a GF dessert! Oh well, I didn’t need it anyway. With the buy 1; get 1 deal, you won’t be giving away the bank for a good dinner out. We ordered a sampler platter + the sunomomo salad(we can’t pronounce it, but it was delicious and not a salad at all) for $ 39 plus tax. Whatta deal! Sushi O… we’ll be back!

Sushi O has an extensive sushi menu, and there are a lot of delicious choices. I’ve been here several times, and it’s a good choice for sushi downtown. Food and drinks are good, but the space is packed and parking is challenging. Not my favorite sushi in Raleigh, but still quite good.

I love this place. You can’t beat their buy one get one rolls in the area(they won’t allow it for takeout, however) and the service is always good. I like their outdoor seating too. Try the Good Roll, Seaworld Roll, Volcano Roll, and Amy Roll. I would say it’s a casual restaurant, but nice. If you do two specialty rolls and nothing to drinks, apps, etc expect it to be about $ 15. I’ve never tried anything but sushi there though they have curry dishes, udon soups, tempura, and more. The sushi’s simply always why I go there.

I won! Buy one get one and ½ price wine on a Tuesday. Outdoor seating and sushi was yummy and allows dogs on the patio

I would give this place five stars but the service wasn’t on point the night we dined here. A few friends and I dined here for dinner a few Saturday’s ago for BOGO sushi. When we arrived the hostess greeted us and we were seated right away. There was an excessive wait for a waitress to come and get our drink orders. Finally when the waitress addressed our table we decided to order the drinks and our food. Twenty minutes later we hadn’t received our drinks so we flagged down our waitress who looked surprised we didn’t even have a glass of water. I noticed she was working most of the tables in the restaurant so I didn’t make an issue of if. Finally the drinks come out and we noticed the table next to us received their food when we arrived well before them. I completely understand that a restaurant is busy but we were starving. This should’ve of been an hour dining experience but we were there for almost two hours. Thank goodness the sushi was good! I’d definitely done here again but maybe on an off night versus the weekend.

I come here a lot. After trying a lot of sushi places in the area, I think this is the best quality+bang-for-your-buck combo for the kind of sushi you expect form a typical sushi place. BOGO rolls makes it affordable and they have pretty good drink specials from time to time. After living in California for a while I got spoiled on excellent sushi, but this is less half the price and some of the best around. I’ll keep coming back as long as they stay this way.

I’ve been here 3 – 4 times now and have never had a bad experience. I can only speak for the sushi as that’s all I ever order. The sushi is high quality and delicious. Their special rolls are all well balanced in flavors and with the b1g1 deal, the prices aren’t half bad either. Highly recommend the Crazy Fire and Daddy rolls. Both are awesome. As far as service, again, I’ve never had a bad experience, even when they were incredibly busy.

So my husband and I checked this place out recently on a Friday night and let me just tell you. STAYAWAY! We arrived at 8PM and they had two seats available at the sushi bar, so we sat there. Our server took our drink order and our food order(he warned us it may be a bit of a delay on the sushi since they were busy and that was fine). This is where is all went downhill. Right after we got our wine and waters, he did not come by again for over an hour. We had empty wine and water glasses for 30 minutes and couldn’t even get the attention of anyone at the bar. Finally the you know what REALLY hit the fan when a couple that had arrived 30 minutes after us got their sushi 20 minutes before us. Yep, we didn’t get our sushi until an hour and a half after we arrived. We tried to wave down our server(especially after the couple got their sushi before us and he started to us and got distracted by his friends that he was spending most of his time talking to at the other end of the bar). The sushi was mediocre and not even worth it for buy one, get one. The icing on the cake was that we did not tip the guy well obviously, we gave him 10% because we never saw him again. He had the gall to change our tip to 20% so we had to contact our credit card company. Yep, never again.

We’ve been to Sushi O a few times and it occurred to me that as much as we enjoy it, I’ve never left a review! The service is great, the BOGO sushi rolls are wonderful, and the atmosphere is cozy without being too cramped. The Volcano Roll is common at many sushi places but it is by far the best here! The Crunchy King roll and Tom Yum soup are always great as well. The only reason for the 4 star instead of 5 is that some rolls are so large they’re a little difficult to eat. Check them out if you haven’t! Wayyy better than the other sushi place not to be named on Glenwood.

My husband and I come here every Sunday for b1g1 sushi rolls and half priced wine bottles. The service is consistently good, and management is always visible. I love their appetizer menu and y3 red wine from Napa! The only problem is that this place has such little seating and also has no place to wait if there’s a line. I’d recommend going early! Fav rolls: crunchy queen, crunchy king, and the Glenwood roll. If its nice outside they have prime time outdoor seating on for downtown Raleigh.

If you are looking for sushi in Raleigh, this is the only place you should consider. It is actually on my top 5 in the country! For our last night in Raleigh after a long week of performances, my friends and I were looking for Sushi and a few locals recommended Sushi O. We went late on a Sunday night and pretty near closing time. The servers and hosts were very polite and accommodating to us. They sat us and right away were attentive to us. Additionally, Sunday is half price bottles of wine so they helped decide on our beverage, but the tough part was determining which rolls we would have from their extensive list of delicacies. Between the 3 of us we had 7 rolls and a couple appetizers. EVERYTHING was very good! It was also very nice to have an affordable sushi dinner with Wine, Thai Tea and 4 sushi rolls alone and spend under $ 50!

I’ve been here a few times and have been impressed, but tonight was the best so far. I ordered sushi and hot and sour soup, and it was the best hot and sour soup I’ve had in the area. Additionally, you get a huge bowl for $ 6. I am seriously amazed with this place! Customer for life!

Somewhat disappointing. Price was good but the quality just not there. Fish quality was poor, avocado on our rolls was browning, and the side soup was oily. The price was right and the lunch specials were a good deal. With all the other good reviews maybe we might try again. Someone needs to clean the fish tank, please!

We have sushi at our work but it’s limited on options and way overpriced. So I was hoping to find a place within walking distance to my office to get sushi in place of it! Tried Sushi O for lunch. Sushi was quite good! I love the BOGO offer and for what you pay you actually get a good amount of food. It tasted fresh and there was plenty of options on the menu to chose from. There was also plenty of parking on the street if you needed to go by car. Will definitely be my new go to sushi place during the weekdays when I’m getting the craving!

When you’ve got a menu as broad as Sushi O I’m always thinking I’m going to be disappointed. Japanese, Thai and some Chinese makes for a lot of choices. But I always would see a crowd out on their patio so of course, eventually I had to give em a try! Inside Sushi O it does feel a bit cramped. Corner bar and a bunch of 2 and 4-tops packed tightly in. It’s a small space and looks like they use every bit of it. We ordered up a couple of specialty rolls(pretty much BOGO for all lunch and dinner hours) along with some crab wontons and pad kee mao(spicy basil noodles). The crab wontons show up and they are very nicely done. Perfectly fried and well stuffed with crabby-cheese flavor! The rolls are solid but probably in the middle for me, we do one with tempura and jalapenos which are nice. And after all this food, the last Thai noodle dish was just a throw-in, most of it was brought back home. In the end, I thought all the food we tried was decently prepared and flavored, nice job Sushi O! And while none of it was stellar, it was fine for the breadth of what they serve up. So that’s why you come here. If you can’t decide on sushi or Thai or Chinese, you’ve got your options here. Reminds me of a downtown Sushi-Thai which works fine for me if you know what you’re getting. 3 ½ stars and I’m rounding down for now…

Solid BOGO find on Glenwood South. I originally decided to go here because I’ve been hearing good things about their Phở however it was hot outside an I have a hard time turning down some BOGO sushi. They have an interesting menu mixed with all types of Asian style dishes and sushi of course. The place is much smaller inside then I had thought but the atmosphere was nice and our serve was very friendly. Wed night is ½ price hot sake yay! I started with a Miso soup, it’s hard to screw up but it was delicious so great start. They had a large variety of sushi rolls to choose from but I must say most of them are fried which is not my favorite type of sushi. I ended up ordering a kimono roll which was all fresh fish wrapped in cucumber and the other roll I can’t quite remember the name but it had some crunchy tempura flakes and I believe it was topped with salmon. Both rolls were pretty delicious and I was happy to see that they didn’t cheat us with rolls filled with rice like other BOGO places in town. I will definitely keep Sushi O in my weekly sushi rotation(yes i said weekly I’m a sushi addict). I am looking forward to coming back here and trying the Phở once and for all. It would be great to find some decent Phở close to home.
