TLC for Bikes

Brought in 2 bikes that had spent 4 plus months at the OBX. Had a lot of «orange» on them. They don’t look like new, but the run like new so far. Great guys with some helpful tips on keeping the bikes «less orange» as we carry them on the back of our RV to our next destination. Would return without reservation.

Just picked up my 14 year-​old Colnago from the shop. Gary and his staff basically tore it down to the «bare bones» and then rebuilt it with new components. The frame’s old finish was stripped down to it’s original titanium patina. New drive train and control elements were installed. The end result is a NEW BIKE.
I have known Gary and Wendy for years and heartily recommend them for ALL your cycling needs.

Great experience. Went in to take a look around after the gym and Gary was a pleasures to deal with. They have several boutique bike brands that are very high value to price. They are interested in selling you what you need and not how much money they can get you for because the bread and butter of the business is the mechanics. Great turnaround time on service and my machine has never run smoother. Parts and service are decently priced for small shop. They host a ride group that is very friendly for beginners but will be a challenge for the advanced rider.

Great location, Good service. Bought a new focus bike, Stuart help me out a lot on deciding what bike to buy. Gary is also a good mechanic, he will work with you in whatever you need.

TLC for Bikes is simply the best shop in the area. The entire staff is always helpful and friendly. They take the time to understand what you need, so that you walk out with gear you’re comfortable with and will use. Their mechanics are outstanding and have kept my bike riding like new. Gary and Wendy are both avid cyclists, and lead fun, safe group rides throughout the year. They’re always willing to provide coaching and advice, and have definitely helped me improve as a rider.

Can’t say enough good things about Gary and Wendy! My husband and I started road cycling over 4 years ago on «big box» bikes. We were lucky enough to meet Wendy and Gary on the road not too many months into our new «hobby». They both adopted us; invited us to ride with them and proceeded to gently offer (much sought after) advice on how we could become better cyclists.

My husband and I are casual bikers and took our bikes in for a tune-​up and some minor work. Gary had the bikes done in two days and was pleasant to work with. A few days later, my bike was having some unrelated gear and brake issues and Gary immediately put the bike on his rack and fixed the problems at no additional cost. Great service, good prices, and fast.

This bike store has renewed my faith in good quality customer service. I went on a ride today and I am so impressed with everything from the samples to the knowledgable leader and mechanics. I have been nervous to try a new bike store since I am new to the area and these guys made me feel so at home. If I could give them 10 stars I would. Top notch group. Great service, advice and store. They aren’t pushy trying to sell you a 1200 set of wheels when you say you are looking to upgrade. They watch you ride and help you ride more efficiently and the list goes on and on. I will recommend this place to everyone I see on two wheels! Thanks guys!

Haven’t even picked my bike up from having tires & chain replaced and already know that they deserve an excellent review. I have ridden my bike hard for 8 years so it definitely deserved some TLC from somewhere other than our «home shop» and these guys know their stuff.
Wendy & Jaime came out to AE Finley YMCA to talk to a group of us who are entering a mini-​triathlon. Jamie gave each bike a quick look-​over and gave recommendations on everything we questioned him about. Wendy finished up with advise on nutrition & hydration — both are super knowledgeable.
I knew my bike needed more than just some air so I took it over to the shop immediately. Quick & easy answers dropping it off and later on Jamie called to confirm what I needed — asked me how I rode and made suggestions for tires.
Excellent communication and service from everyone I encountered from TLC today.

I met Gary (owner of TLC for Bikes) cycling in Butner ~2 years ago when I first started riding. He looked at the bike and told me that the frame was too big for me. He then said, do you mind if I adjust it a bit for you and I said yes. He did it right there on the spot. I finally took the bike back to the store from which I purchased it and switched it to a smaller frame. I could feel a big difference after switching to a smaller frame.
I then took my bike to TLC for bikes to get it tuned up. Wow, Gary did an excellent job including washing of the bike. I could not beleive it. The bike look good and rode good. You can really tell that Gary have a love for bikes. I have also bought nutrition, recommended by Gary from this store and they were great.
Gary also likes to give training ideas.

Took my bike in for shifting problem. I had very good conversation with the owner he told me I needed new shifters. When I picked up the bike a few days later they had cleaned it and the new parts were installed so I rode it home — OMG! my bike has never rode this good. I couldn’t believe it. I don’t know all they did, but I’m going to highly recommend these folks they obviously know what there doing.

Shh !!! I’m getting my husband a bike for Christmas, and I wouldn’t even THINK about buying it anywhere else. These people are so caring, hands-​on, and all that good stuff, that they make bike — shopping a pleasure. They are a great addition to our community.
