Unleashed the Dog & Cat Store

Holy Smokes… went into one of the big box pet stores the other day and it reminded me that I hadn’t done a review on my local pet supply shop, Unleashed. Just walking into Unleashed you can feel the love for our furry friends. It’s a small shop compared to the big boys but what they lack in square footage they make up for in Customer Service. Everyone is so helpful with a smile and a genuine interest in the welfare of your critters. In addition the pricing is reasonable. One of my cats was becoming a finicky eater and they gave me a few samples to try gratis. If you want a feel good experience try out unleashed. You’ll be a happy camper.

We were first time customers on Sunday– we (have) had a dog with tummy issues– after a couple visits to the vet for this, we decided to investigate and research the issue ourselves. As we were trying to rule things out and get to the source of our dog’s digestive problem, we found Unleashed (online) and went for a visit to the store. JP was extremely helpful and quite knowledgeable– he suggested a couple things (no pressure at all to buy) to try and… after just three days on a new diet in addition to a bit of raw goats milk, our Molly is feeling and doing SO much better! Thank you, JP! Unleashed is our new favorite place!

This store is awesome. The staff is so knowledgeable about the food that they sell and even about some health concerns. They sell high-​quality food at a good price. The staff always crazy when I come in and they remember my dogs when I bring them. I absolutely adore this place.

Brie was such a delight to work with! She helped us fit Antonio for a leash and also talked to us about a raw food diet and higher quality cat food. She was by herself and swamped, but handled all customers with grace. We didn’t feel rushed and she provided great customer service.
They were also outstanding when I had to return something. Our cat would not take the product and they were excellent. I try to avoid returning stuff, but this just didn’t work.
The store is cute and has lots of wonderful items and I will be back for Christmas!
I know they have also supported the Wake Co. Animal Shelter with donations and want to include that as I like to shop at small businesses that also give back.

I buy probably 95% of my pet supplies from here. They have high quality food and toys
The staff is always extremely friendly and helpful. They also keep track of the food you buy so you can get the 12^th bag free.

Has been our favorite area pet store for a while now. Love the staff. They greet my pup and even ask about her when she isn’t with me. Definitely the most knowledgable staff in the area, if not anywhere. Love that they are selective about the items they stock. For the most part, I pay a premium for my pet and think it’s worth it, but I had to take a star away because I feel like their prices have been going up recently. Prior to that, it was no question that they were the most reasonably priced local pet store. But seeing things that I’ve been buying regularly being marked up so much has been disappointing and making me want to start searching elsewhere.

I am a loyal customer to Unleashed. They have to highest quality products with reasonable prices. Even if you pay a dollar more than you would in the local chain stores, the customer service and staff knowledge make up for the extra dollar. You are also supporting locally owned stores. Thanks guys for great quality products and great customer service. It’s always a pleasure shopping there.

I’ve lived in Raleigh for 2 years, and today was my first trip to an Unleashed store. I am ashamed of myself for the money and time I’ve spent at petsmart/​petco. My trips to the latter 2 are always… something I dread. I know to expect little help, lack of knowledge about the products on the shelf, and a clutter of products that I (personally) don’t believe any PET store should sell (i.e: dog/​cat foods that are cheap/​unfit for the well being & nutritional needs of an animal). I know, I am critical, but I spend a great deal of time and money in pet stores (a 30lb bag costing $ 50 lasts maybe two weeks in this house? Not to mention the supplements my spouse and I have been urged to buy to help with our 10month old great danes kidney function, meds, etc). Petsmart/​petco are large, unattractive, somewhat uninviting stores. and as I said before– their employees do not know much about what their store sells– therefore *most* employees aren’t good at recommending anything. Unleashed (on Creedmoor Rd in Raleigh) made my entire week this afternoon. Not only were they VERY knowledgeable about everything in the store, they seemed to take genuine interest in my dog who was wih me, Forrest (a 14wk Harlequin Great Dane), as well as an interest in my two at home and the issues we’ve had. They carry the food I now use (and will continue to use FOREVER! It’s an incredible food for giant breeds that’s also very easy on tummies! Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream Canine), and they don’t bother stocking their store with foods that aren’t actually suitable for your furry family. Back to their knowledge– I’ve been wanting to add a probiotic to the packs food. The employee helping me was so wonderful! He took me through all the things they had in store and helped me pick something to try out and explained further to me the benefits of a probiotic. At checkout I saw some cute smoothie treats for the pack, all natural of course and even though they were already on sale, I ended up getting several for free, just because! The guy and gal working there this evening were just exceptional, and obviously I don’t find exceptional service often so I get very excited when I do! To top everything else off– the male employee offered to carry everything to my car so I wouldn’t have to manage a 40lb puppy and a 30lb bag of food (and some smoothies). Oh, and once you buy 12 bags of food you get a free bag! That may not mean a lot to some people, but like I said– we go through a LOT of food! WHEW. Summary: Unleashed is an awesome store & I was very impressed all around! If you live in Raleigh, Cary, or Wilmington, check them out!

Not only am I a regular here because of the products, I also love the people. The owners are great and the people who work there. We have been to every location even the new one in Wilmington, NC. Everyone knows their stuff and are available to answer any questions. My favorite thing is the bath station in the back. You bring your dog in and for one price you get to wash your dog with their products and they have the perfect tub for dogs. You can then dry them off and they are ready to go. They do the cleanup! My dog sheds, so it’s great to not do it at home.

When I first moved here with a kitten AND a puppy scrabbling around in my apartment, I decided then and there that I was going to give them the best I could. I love littler stores versus chains like Petsmart and Petco, and the two Unleashed shops had great reviews. I had originally gone to the other store on Wycliff before I found the one on Creedmoor, which is right down the road from work, so very convenient!
I love going to the store, everyone working there has ALWAYS been helpful and super nice. They’ve answered any and all questions I’ve had and help me haul out bags of food to my car. I’ve gotten crates, thundershirts, treats and toys galore there, not to mention some catnip for my little tiger and some homeopathic anxiety drops to give my little girl Cookie.
The prices are fair compared to other places I’ve checked out as well — money saved on high quality goodies makes everyone happy. My babies are happy and healthy. Unleashed has a loyal customer in me. :)

I’ve been a customer of Unleashed for a few years now, and I was delighted to find that they have a store on Creedmoor, which is a lot close to my house than the Wycliff location.
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and they’re one of the only places that sell raw meat dog food, which is all that Her Royal Furriness eats.
I don’t have any (human) children, and it’s a pleasure to have a store like Unleashed to spoil my canine child with.

I won/​bought a giant basket of Unleashed dog and cat goodies at SAFE Haven for Cats’ silent auction at their Tuxedo Cat Ball, and it came with two $ 10 gift certificates to the shop. This store is way out of the way for me, but I went there to use up the gc’s. We’re drowning in treats at home, so I didn’t want to use the money on the plethora of freeze-​dried snacks for both cats and dogs.
The store is weirdly sparse, but they have a lot of stuff. Seemed kind of warehouse-​y. They have pet food, toys, treats (including home-​baked), first-​aid stuff, Thundershirts, door mats, car-​safety equip. and more. You can bring your pooch in with you, if you’d like, and the staff was very friendly. The customer in front of me was chatting up the staff while I stood there for a while, but when they finally noticed me, I paid and was out the door.
I bought a little squeaker toy and an «I Love My Mutt» magnet for the fridge, and these 2 items used up my $ 20. A little too pricey for me, so I was glad I had certificates.
I will note though, that my dog and cat are OBSESSED with the treats from this place. I like that the ingredients are ridiculously simple; «Chicken». «Turkey Hearts». Pronounceable and natural (and gross).
