Our mission is to provide a safe environment for abused, abandoned and needy chinchillas, to improve their quality of life and eliminate

their suffering, to find them safe and loving forever homes, and to

educate current, future, and potential chinchilla parents on proper

care of their pets.

Squiggly and Friends’ chinchillas do pet assisted therapy, and go to schools, shelters, and pet stores to educate the community about chinchillas and adopting.

History

Established in 2011.

Tara, the president of Squiggly and Friends, decided to start a chinchilla rescue after unofficially rescuing and re-​homing chinchillas for 3 years. Now Squiggly and Friends Chinchilla Rescue is a 501c3 non-​profit organization!

Tara B.

Business Owner

Tara handles all adoptions, education and pet assisted therapy with the chinchillas. She also performs all duties for the care of the chinchillas including cleaning the cages, providing human contact and playtime, and training the chinchillas. She has been a chinchilla owner since 2005. Tara has been a Small Animal Specialist at Petco for over 6 years and has been a dog training instructor for about 4 years.

Squiggly and Friends Chinchilla Rescue is awesome! They have so much knowledge about chinchillas and obviously care a lot about what they do. They give you the tools you needs to properly take care of the chinchilla you already have and have chinchillas which have been rescued and are for adoption if you are interested in becoming a loving and responsible chinchilla owner.

Squiggly & Friends is run by a dedicated and passionate owner who has provided a home for many chinchillas who were given up by their original owners. This rescue truly takes the time to care for them; the owner goes through great strides to provide for the chinchillas. She is even known as the chinchilla girl at the vet office I go to, due to her constant concern and care for any chinchilla who may have been hurt or sick at the time of their rescue. I have visited this rescue and found that the chinchillas live in a clean and well equipped environment with plenty of room for them to play and roam.
Overall, a great place to adopt a new furry friend!

A wonderful rescue that cares for chinchillas bought in pet stores and then abandoned. They do great work in placing these little guys into properly prepared homes and educating people on the unique needs of chinchillas.
