Aside from great prices on firearms, ammo, and accessories, it’s really the amazing customer service that keeps me coming back. No matter how busy they are, I always receive a warm welcome and an acknowledgement like «We’ll be with you as soon as we can». No matter how small the purchase, I always receive a «We appreciate your business». I always receive great advice and information. I would highly recommend them from novice to expert.

Everyone I have encountered in this store has been kind, understanding, patient and knowledgeable. The customer service was very good and they took time to answer my very basic questions without making me feel dumb. I even felt comfortable enough to return on my own without my husband.

Well first off have to say these are the friendliest! Not mention coolest gun /​ammo gun store I’ve been to not the biggest store but who needs a giant store. They have the best price on rounds period. Also DOJ/​MIL friendly which is always a plus for me ! I will definitely be back to buy more rounds /​firearms.

bought 308 for my M1a & young man behind counter was very cordial as I was confused /​mistaken on the grain of the bullet that I was looking for.
Without embarrassing me he kindly pointed out the 2 grains of bullets that I should be looking to buy based on what I wanted to do. When I got home and saw that the ammo was the same in my safe — I not only was relieved — more importantly I felt confident that this young lad knew what he was talking about & was sending me down a road of success!
I have bought ALOT of ammo here and find the 20 minute ride from Elk Grove well worth the trip as the store is clean and free of thugs.

Why the F does everyone involved the the selling of Guns and/​or Ammo have to act like an Ahole? They look at you like you don’t know what you are talking about or that they don’t understand what you are saying. Smug MF’er working the counter today.
They get an extra star for having a bunch of cool stuff here. Otherwise they would be getting a 1 star from me.
A smile goes a long way and Customer Service is still appropriate even if you have something that all shooters want.

Some of the better prices in the area, the guy I believe is the manager «matt» is a little on the unfriendly side. However, the store is great, a little small with a good selection of brands and almost always stocked everyone is nice and if you’re in the area this is the place to go.

I’d like to write a better review, but no one knows how to answer the phone. I’ve called multiple times throughout the day on a Thursday, but was unsuccessful in reaching anyone. Maybe they’re too busy selling ammo. Maybe they’re too busy providing quality customer service to their plentiful patrons. I kinda think they’re probably sitting the back smoking the weed, but how would I really know? It’s just a guess, no one answered the phone to verify.

Excellent business. Dave and Brandon are awesome. Dave taught CCW class and it was very well presented and organized. Can’t wait for my wife and kids to take the handgun class.

Seems like you can never get the ammo you need at WalMart these days. You can find it online, but that can be a hassle — ID/​adult signatures required for shipping — PITA if you work. I had never been here before and was in the area so I stopped by. They had the ammo I was looking for — just plinking stuff, nothing fancy. The prices were in line with what you can find online or at WalMart — if they had it in stock. I was in and out in minutes and it looked like they had a great selection and ample supply. I’m a satisfied customer.

It’s just another ammo shop, but at the same time NOT «just another» ammo shop. I was referred here by a friend to get some .22lr ammo a couple years ago. Since then I’ve spent a bit at this location on different calibers.
The guys working the counter when I come in are friendly, not pushy. They don’t have the «gun shop attitude» of «buy now or GTFOH». This makes shopping here very enjoyable.
The shop itself is small, as they have most of their product in the storage room. The only issue I’ve had is that they don’t always have the better deals on some ammo. Then again, that’s not their fault. Prices are crazy all around, so you have to time it to get great deals. I passed on 375 rds .22lr for $ 50, but was able to pick up new stock of 500 rds Federal 9 mm and 500 rds PMC Bronze 40 cal for under $ 200 each.

I stopped by Ammo Depot today for the first time. I was greeted when I walked in by Matt and received outstanding customer service. Then Zach (sp? Sorry) walked out and shook my hand and introduced himself to me. We all spoke for awhile and I found them to be very knowledgeable and extremely helpful to every customer who walked through the door. This is the kind of customer service that I want to get from the rest of the gun stores in the Sacramento area! Great job guys! I will be back and I will send others your direction.

Very helpful staff. Been there a few times and they are always helpful and polite. One time they didn’t have what I was looking for and recommended one of their competitors.

Great selection of ammo in stock and very good prices. They also have a good selection of holsters in stock. Friendly staff.
My main reason for this review is that I recently took their CCW class for Sacramento. The 16 hour course was great. Two Saturdays in a row. First class was 10 hours long and time flew by. I learned a lot. The following Saturday was at their private range for 6 hours. My instructor John was very professional and explained everything in detail. I’m looking forward to taking more classes with my wife soon.
If you are looking for your CCW training course I would highly recommend them!

I’m a relatively new shooter… but, I’m a hellava shot. What can I say, my husband is a great teacher. We live a little over a mile from Cordova Shooting Center, I’ve been on a full on mission to make this my all time favorite past time.
But, what is the most fundamental part of shooting, besides a gun of course? Ammo.
We’d been passing Ammo Depot for months and on our way to the movies one afternoon, we decided to stop in and grab some 22 bullets and 9 mm for our super sweet new Glock (woot woot!)
The first thing we noticed was the store was super small. There were boxes of ammo on the wall, but we waiting for a good ten minutes before the lone salesman was able to get to us, only to be told that they had been out of 22 bullets for almost three weeks and they had no idea when they would be getting some in. When we asked about 9 mm bullets, he only had one brand that was moderately priced at around $ 15 a box. Cool, we’ll take 4 boxes…
…but our dreams were killed when he said he didnt take Amex. Who doesnt take Amex? The merchant rates are damn near a percent less than Visa/​MC/​Disc!
I digress…
So, I wait a few weeks and decide that I am going to fill up our stockings with ammo. I call down to see if they have gotten any more of those seemingly mythical 22 bullets yet. Yes! But, they sold out last week. Are you freakin’ kidding me?
So, in a moment of sheer pissed-​offed-​ness, I called Action Guns on Sunrise and Vehicle Dr in Rancho Cordova and not only did they have 22 bullets in stock, it turns out they are about 3.5 cents less per round that what Ammo Depot was asking (when they even have them in stock)!
So basically, we wont be back.

Poor customer service, the guy on the phone didn’t acknowledge me or my gf as we waited for someone that worked there to help us for about 10 min.
Then another employee came out from the back room and finally helped us, however the ammo we were looking to buy they didn’t have any of and we were told that they didn’t know when they would get more in.

Update: Unfortunately, the employee (s) don’t know the requirements with CCW renewals with Sacramento County Sheriff Department. The employee stated to me that you do NOT have to requalify when renewing the license, only requirement is the 4 hour course. That is completely incorrect. Here is the link with the CORRECT information:
I suggest that if they are going to hire employees and sponsor/​run CCW and firearms classes… FIRST priority… know your stuff guys. I don’t mean to be a nit-​picker here, but when the wrong information is told to customers… AND an email is sent out that you don’t need to bring your firearms to the class. That can cause confusion.

READ THIS BEFORE TAKING THEIR HANDGUN COURSE
**I should preface, this is not a review on the shop itself. It is for the Gun Course that the Ammo Depot has been putting on.**
So about a month ago my boyfriend has bought an $ 80 a person LivingSocial Deal (originally $ 215 a person, but still expensive!) from Ammo Depot, that was supposed to instruct us on how to use a semi-​automatic and a revolver. This was going to be my first time shooting a gun, so I was nervous/​anxious/​excited to take this course. The deal outlined it would have a six hour class: with basic classroom instruction on how to use a gun, use of false rubber guns to handle in class, How to take apart and clean your gun and after class they would give us directions to a shooting range a few miles away where we would put our schooling into practice.
So the course started at 8:00am on a Saturday where a man taught a very thorough class on how to handle, where to store and how to shoot a semi-​automatic and a revolver. It was all very scientific and actually, really interesting. I felt well educated on the basic process of gun shooting and such, and after an hour, I felt truly ready to go try to shoot one for the first time. The only thing that was missing is that he DID NOT teach us how to take apart and clean a gun. But I thought maybe they would teach us this when it became hands-​on at the shooting range.
The class ended at about 10:00, and they gave us directions to get to the shooting range. We went straight there, and ate our snacks that we brought on the way.
This is when the whole experience got fun… We had to wait for everyone to arrive (some had probably stopped for lunch) and the range wasn’t even set up completely. Instruction of the hands on part didn’t get underway until 11:00 am, where they asked for the first set of volunteers to come up to shoot: 3 for the revolvers and 3 for the semi-​automatic. They also asked to have each person have a partner and to stand behind them to watch as they shot, (to be «On-​Deck») so that they could learn and also be there for safety measures. My boyfriend and I didn’t want to be selfish and jump up to be first to line up to shoot, so we sat back and watched as another bunch of 6 people went first. (Keep in mind there were 20+ people in the class, so with 6 shooting, and 6 on deck, there was still a little over half the class waiting on the benches.)
The instructors gave each person in the class 100 rounds in the beginning… we expected that they would have each person shoot a few times on a gun, then give back the guns and rotate out people but NOPE. They let the first 6 people shoot 50 rounds on a gun, and then switched the GUNS, not the participants. The first 6 people took over an HOUR AND A HALF to shoot their 100 rounds. And their poor partners that were on deck were forced to stand behind them the whole time. So once those first six were done the partners behind them took their spot and other people from the benches jumped us and stood right behind them and became the ones «on deck» immediately. Since my boyfriend and I had not been aggressive enough after the first round were done, we were instead behind another 2 rotations of people that were going before us. The class was supposed to end at 2:00, but by our calculations, we would have to wait until 3:30 before we would even get to START our turn, nearly 4.5 hours of waiting! Mind you, the class started at 8:00 in El Dorado Hills (far from where we live) and we had only brought snacks since that’s all they advised us to bring. If we would have known we weren’t even going to have our turn for another 4 ish hours we would have went to lunch and came back.
This story ends with us not deciding to wait the 4.5 hours before our turn. If we would have stayed that the whole time it would have meant we would have been in this class from 8:00– 5:00 ish, where 5 of the hours was spent waiting. We left at 1:00 when, the 2^nd bunch of people had just got started with their shooting experience. We let the ammo depot instructors know that we were leaving and said thank you for the class, and they didn’t even offer to reschedule us or ask why we were taking off. I told my boyfriend after, that by us deciding to be polite and letting others from our class go ahead of us, we were the ones that got screwed out of our day and the $ 160 it cost for the deal. This was NOT our idea of an efficient learning experience. It was unorganized for the class size and poorly planned. I still have never shot a gun. And I doubt they even taught how to take apart and clean the gun at the end, especially since the second class was supposed to arrive at the range at 2:00.
The only reason I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 is because the classroom instructor was very knowledgeable. If you read this before you buy gun course from them, I would HIGHLY advise you deciding to look elsewhere.

The main reason I am giving them a five star rating is they don’t throw the usual gun shop attitude you find at most places. I would say my gun knowledge is a little below average, but I spend time reading and watching youtube videos to church up my firearms knowledge. Most gun shops won’t give you the time of day unless you throw some buzz words out there to start. For a retail business this seems ludicrous to me. I have seen and heard of people walk out of many local Sac shops ready to spend hundreds or more, but left because of the customer service or lack there of.
This is definitely not the case here. These guys were super friendly, had inexpensive .223 ammo and more AR Magpul accessories than most of the big shops carry.
I for one will be going back for sure.

I have driven past Ammo Deopt for the last six months or so, and have been interested in finding a cheap local source for ammunition. I finally stopped by, and wasn’t particularly impressed. The staff was very nice and helpful, but the prices were no better than other local stores, and their bulk reloaded ammo was still more expensive than the prices for new (brand name) ammo on line, even after shipping is taken into account.
The employees were very willing to give advice, however, the suggestion for «home defense ammo» they made was what prompted this review. I take firearms safety very seriously, and feel that a (unrequested) recommendation that they made was based on making another sale, not on a well-​thought, logically based opinion. The particular shotgun ammo that the salesperson recommended that I buy was a non-​expanding slug, capable of going straight through a person (home intruder, etc.), through several interior walls, and kill a family member or neighbor. When I asked why that particular shell would be a good choice, he didn’t seem to have a well thought out answer.
This isn’t a bad store, or bad guys working there, but between mediocre prices and advice that conflicts with common firearms safety knowledge (over-​penetration is bad), I wasn’t impressed.
