Seriously, who woulda thunk a European Deli in the middle of a Korean Grocery store? Well if you are from Rancho Cordova, it makes complete and utter sense. To me, it makes it one of my favorite places to go for cheap but good eats. The baker and proprietor is a tall dark man with a very intimidating scowl on his face. I can never pronounce the yummy goodies correctly so I just point to what I want and yell out how many. I smile at him, he never smiles back. He just tells me what they are, repeats the amount I asked for. I always say, «Yeah that… uh-huh… that many.» Normally, I walk out with a bag of ponchik(a buck a piece… wadda dealio), some fruit turnovers, and a few of these fried flat bread thingy’s with sliced beef in them. All for under $ 10! Which means I have a few bucks to get an asian drink to wash said pastries down with. Someday I’m gonna try the cake selection… one particular slice of temptation is called«Snickers Cake» I’m just scared I’m gonna get addicted to it. I am already hopelessly hooked when it comes to the ponchik… god forbid my waist expands anymore. Tip of the Day: Fresh ponchik usually comes after 11am… any earlier and your looking at empty deli cases. If you ask the owner when they will be ready he just stares at you– no matter how cute and perky you are. Oh, if you swing by after 3pm the selection is sparse. Fried goods are a little old, which means they are a tad greasy, but if you are like me, you’ll still chow it down cuz its that good.
