I unfortunately have to agree with Mohammad’s review, and I find it difficult because the staff was so nice; however, the food just doesn’t taste as good as what I’m used to, compared to other Indian places in town. The butter chicken was very mild and a bit watered-​down and lacked spice/​flavor and the pakora seemed stale because it was difficult to chew, plus it wasn’t crispy on the outside. The naan was fine. One thing that I do like about this place however, is they offer their buffet to go. So I hope they make their dishes tastier/​more authentic and stick around. We need an Indian restaurant in this neighborhood.

I will be honest (at the risk of being blunt, sorry about it) — You Got To Change The Chef. The barbecue chicken was smelly, the butter chicken was tough and not marinated enough, the meat did not taste good at all. Pretty much everything else (even the tea and desert) was surprisingly subpar except for dal and garlic nan.
From the standpoint of food quality, i would not come back. None of my company today would.
However this is a new place. So hope to see some changes. May be will give it another shot few months later.
But you have to change the recipes or the chef. It just isn’t working, taste-​wise.

For their first month they are doing dinner buffet style before they settle on their menu. They were very personable which I really like. They do their Naan bread better than most. Will be back!

It was our first time here. The atmosphere and service exceeded expectation. The variety of food was impressive, there is something for everyone. One bit of constrictive criticism, make more than one non milk based entrée available. Before arrival I read some of the other reviews about this restaurant, it genuinely appears as though the owner and staff are listening and adjusting to customer feedback. We were advised by the owner the temporary dinner buffet is to get a feel for the customer base and also to allow the customer to taste all of the offerings. His goal is to creat his menu around the customer’s preferences. This business plan really blew us away. I am very excited to see and try the finalized menu.

This is probably the worst indian food i ever ate what bugs me more is the guy at the counter he is just arrogant would not go ever again

The food is not good fish was way too salty and they would not refill when asked they we don’t fill food after 8pm we were in the restaurant at 8. The guy at the counter should really know how to talk to customers people don’t pay 15 $ for crap would never recommend people to this restaurant

The food, the service, the atmosphere — all are amazing! Their lunch buffet changes every day, so there’s always something new to try and everything is delicious. Plus, you get unlimited naan and chai… chai that is also amazing. I am so thankful that Rasoi came to Rancho Cordova. I plan on eating there on a weekly basis.

OPENING DAY @ 11:30AM PROS VS CONS:
–The food gave me and my coworker the shits, but the owner says he wasn’t expecting a crowd, cuz he didn’t advertise, so maybe the cook was overwhelmed? Idk. I’ll wait a couple weeks after the kinks get worked out b4 I go back.
+curry wasn’t as salty as other places
–curry was kinda thin compared to other places, but still good
+Interior looks nice
–Feels a bit crowded. If you sit by the wall, the person on the Isle has to get up so you can get out.
*Only room for 1 group of 10 people. make reservations
–had to ask for Naan 3x, +BUT IT WAS AWESOME
Overall, I’d say this place has potential, but it doesn’t do ANYTHING better than the other local Indian restaurants. yet. I’ll be back in March. hope things get better.
Background: I’m not Indian & don’t know how it should be, I can only compare with Curry Club, India oven, India house, and Indian Spice.

This restaurant is great! Just opened not too long ago so it is buffet style for now, it’s wonderful food for a good price & they have amazing customer service! I would recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family!

This place is very nice looking and that staff was very nice. We got there towards the end of the lunch buffet and there was not a huge selection. When we were greeted we were told the lunch buffet was $ 15.99 and after reading reviews and responses, I understood the lunch buffet was $ 11.99, so I was a bit surprised by that. We might try again in a few weeks.

For having been open for five days, I’m impressed. There were definitely a few opening week kinks and it’s clear they’re still figuring out how to handle being busy from the moment they open. That said, the food was really good and the owner is clearly paying attention to the feedback and making adjustments.
Before going in for the first time, I read all the other Unilocal reviews (there were only 9) and I remember one said something about how it would be nicer to have the naan in a basket at the table than on the buffet line. When we ate there today, that’s what they were doing, brining baskets to each table.
Again, definitely a few opening week kinks to work out. My 5 star rating is based upon the fact that they’re so new, I see a lot of promise, the food was tasty, and the owner was super nice. I’ll definitely be back.

Had the opportunity to come try this place on opening day. Was greeted right away upon entering. The staff was very courteous and prompt, we were seated almost instantly, followed by a round of waters for our table. The lunch was buffet style, they had a variety of vegetarian and non-​vegetarian options. I tried more of the non-​vegetarian items, my favorite was the fish pakora and tandoori chicken, both were very tasty. The chai tea was also very good. The buffet also included dessert, they had rice pudding, gulab jamun and fruit. Definitely worth the price we paid. When we went to go pay the owner asked for some constructive criticism, he was open to our suggestions, they definitely strive to keep the customer happy. If you’re in the area you should give this place a try.

After looking at the reviews, We decided to try this new restaurant and called to check out the menu (website is down) around 8pm, no one answered the call. We thought, oh well! its new restaurant and they might be under staffed, so decided to drive to restaurant and try out. Well I guess we were wrong, they had quiet a few help available, so not sure why they didn’t answer calls. They have buffet for dinners ($ 15.99) and from what they say they are trying to test out their dishes, well if you are testing out dishes why should customer have to pay $ 15.99 for buffet? they didn’t have my fav. dish (Paneer butter masala) in the buffet and ordering from menu was not an option so we had to walkout. I hope to have better experience next time around. Interior is good, customer service when we walked in was good.

We tried as team lunch, it was not so good as expected. And the price is also not worth it for the taste of food. They need to improve much more than now.

Yesterday was the grand opening. I was eagerly waiting for this day every time I drove past this place. First of all I must admit that this is a very beautiful restaurant. I walked in around 12:30 pm.
I was warmly greeted upon entering the restaurant. I was seated promptly. Lunch is buffet style. I am a vegetarian and they had a chilled salad bar with salad and two types of raita. Lunch comprised of Pulao, Aloo Gobi, Malai Kofta, Okra and Naan. For dessert they had kheer and Gulab jamun. They also had hot chai.
Here are my observations :
Tables are too close and is a problem getting in and out.
More vegetarian options needed like Dal or Channa Masala.
Paneer is a must for vegetarians because there are several meat options for Non Veg eaters whereas vegetarians like me have
very little choices.
Food was good, had the right flavor and spices. Not too oily. Okra was a bit under cooked. Rice pilaf needs improvement.
Gulab Jamun was served cold and must be served warm.
Chutneys must be placed in the salad bar along with pickle (Achar) lot of people love to have sweet mango chutney as well.
Try serving hot Naan on the table instead of having it in the buffet.
Tables must be cleared promptly when someone goes for a second helping.
Little instrumental music would help.
Great effort and keep on improving .!

Sooooooo… I came here today because my Co-​Worker Neel referred me to his families new restaurant. The food was awesome with a great atmosphere and the staff was very welcoming and hospitable. For the record, I have never been a fan of chair tea but their’s is to die for. I didn’t have naan, but I heard it was very fresh and warm. Give me the okra, fish, pakoras and tea and I’m a happy girl. I will definitely be back soon!
