Chuck’s Complete Tree Service

I called and left a message asking to give me a call regarding an estimate. I never received a call back. Guess they don’t need business.

I just had Chuck come out and remove 2 trees that were killed by another «arborist» well known in the area. Chuck had previously done work for me, but I became a «value shopper» instead of a smart shopper. For a miniscule savings, I lost a pair of beautiful 30 plus year old Alder trees, and spent more than the savings to remove them 1 ½ years later. To replace these trees could cost well in excess of $ 5,000 each.
Incidentally, there are other Alders in the neighborhood that the «brand x» guy trimmed after mine. All are dead.
If you value your trees, THIS is the man to see. If you don’t, get any clown with a chainsaw to trim them.
Chuck isn’t the cheapest, but he is clearly among the best and more important, he’s honest.

Chuck came out to trim my birch trees, and it was nice to know on him. He used regular hand primers to lace out my birch tree. Everyone else told me I needed to top my tree, but Chuck let me know never to do that, and that it harms trees to do that. Chuck gave me wonderful service in a timely matter, I would highly recommend him to anyone. He’s very knowledgable and helped me a lot!

Chuck is very dedicated and reliable. I do not know what that happened with the previous reviewer… this is my experience:
I called Chuck to help me take care of semi-​emergency. He came over right away to look at the situation. He was here within the hour, even though he was had been out with his family. It was in the evening, and because he came right away, he did not have the equipment needed, and noted that due to some «hot» power lines on a utility pole, he would be putting himself in danger to help anyway. He helped me get a hold of Edison, who said they would come out.
Later that evening, we spoke with Edison again, and they said they would come out the next day. I called Chuck to let him know that Edison would not be out until the next day, as he had asked me to keep him informed.
The next day, as soon as he was able (well before Edison arrived), Chuck came over to check on the situation. He had brought his son with him, and the two of them, together with my husband, found a away to safely resolve the situation.
I found Chuck both friendly and reliable, and was VERY thankful for the service he provided.

He answered the phone himself and told me he’d come over to the property to give me an estimate. I waited on the said time/​day but he never showed up. He did show up the following day when I was not home, took a look at the trees and gave me an estimate over the phone. The price was competitive and he seemed very knowledgeable about trees. Here’s where it started going downhill. He set up a time to do the job after I accepted the quote. Never heard back from him, would not pick up the phone or return calls. At this point, I should have just gone with someone else… but, a week or so later, I called again and many voicemails later, got through to him. He promised to take care of it again but never heard back from him after that either. This routine happened one more time before I decided to chuck Chuck’s Tree Service :) He did say that he was overwhelmed with work from all the fallen trees this Santa Ana season (lot of them urgent unlike mine) and there was another excuse about his mom not being well. Which is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1. But it is unprofessional to make an appointment, not follow through or reschedule. YMMV.
I ended up going with another excellent tree service I found on craigslist (David and Sons). I will post a separate review for their service.
