Dande West Hardwood Floors

How refreshing to find an honest person in a shady industry! About a year ago, I contacted Dande West (off the internet) frantic after hiring an unlicensed contractor to install my hardwood floors. The guy we hired left us with uneven floors and hollow spots that sounded like the floor was moving when you walked on it. It was our new home and we were devastated. Other local wood installers came and looked at it and said some of it couldn’t be fixed and some would cost a $ 1000 to fix and they said the wood would come up if we didn’t fix it. Angelo came over and to my surprise he reassured me that the wood floor overall looks beautiful, that it could have been much worse going with an unlicensed unprofessional. He reassured me that the wood won’t come up and that I most likely wouldn’t hear those sounds once I put furniture and rugs but that he could help me if I really wanted to fix it (almost suggesting that he wouldn’t). He minimized the damage instead if others who catastrophized it to make a buck off of me. I can’t tell you how impressed and comforted I was by his free of charge consultation. I wish there was more people like him in the industry and definitely wish I had gone with Angelo/​Dande West in the first place to install my floors. Bottom line is we were in a vulnerable spot and he could have taken advantage of us because we were freaking out. But he didn’t. I highly highly recommend this business.

While being a local Business manager in the service industry I have to admit I am probably one of the most critical and hardest to please customers. With that said, Angelo and his team far exceeded my expectation in salesmanship, customer service and most important, craftsmanship. His prices are very competitive considering the personal attention your project will receive.
Do yourself a favor, get out of the mindset that you need to walk into a store to buy flooring. They just want to take your money and get on to the next customer. If you are going to invest in your flooring call someone that is passionate about what they do. Stop shopping around and just call Angelo.

We recently purchased a brand new home and were searching for a better option than the very expensive «design center» associated with the builder. I found Dande West through an internet search and could tell after one phone conversation that Angelo was passionate about the work he does.
As always with new construction there are delays, but through the process Angelo remained flexible and accommodating with our frequently changing schedule. He even came out on a Sunday morning to review and finalize the calcium chloride test on the new concrete slab.
He told us the job would take seven days but they finished in six and in the end, we have a beautiful wood floor throughout our home. I highly recommend Dande West if you want your floors professionally done and at a very fair price!

I recently purchased a home with a 100+ year old hardwood floor. I was not happy with the look and feel of the floor and I contacted several companies to get a quote on refinishing the floor. Angelo was the most knowledgeable and advised me that the floor did not have to be refinished, but only needed a higher quality coating. He also fixed and reinforced a broken plank and installed shoe molding. After completing the job, he provided me with felt for the furniture and place mats to move the appliances to protect the floor. He also gave me pointers and cleaning supplies to take care of the floor. Thank you Angelo for the great job!

Angelo came out to take a look at the scratches on my floor. He was able to make the repairs same day. He also gave us some additional tips and resources for how to keep our floors looking great. Happy with his work. He installed the flooring in one day (in a small living & dining area). Happily came back to fix a chip I found a couple days later when moving things back into place. Refinishing floors is a substantial endeavor and can seem overwhelming: it takes time, energy, and money. I initially considered hiring the services offered through a big box home improvement store and even got quotes that initially appeared to be a better deal. Yet, after much research and consideration, I decided it would be better to talk with a business that focused specifically on refinishing floors. Bottom Line: Hiring Dande West was the absolute BEST DECISION I could have made for refinishing my floors.
Having never had the opportunity to live with wood floors, I did my research. I began with reading various articles on wood flooring: various types, care/​maintenance, what refinishing entailed, potential costs, what to consider when having floors refinished, etc. I checked out articles on a variety of websites, including the National Wood Flooring Association (

The ratings and comments I had read for Dande West were very positive. The fact that dustless sanding equipment would be used was another positive aspect since it meant the dust from the refinishing process would be minimized. Seeing Angelo’s professional certificates on the Dande West website was another plus. Beyond all that, the customer service was key. Angelo was patient, courteous, and professional. He worked very hard to accommodate my work schedule in order to meet with me, answer questions, and ensure I was satisfied with my choices before moving forward. I would not have gotten such care and attention to detail with a service contracted through a big box store. In the end, even the price was much better than the quotes I got from the home improvement stores since everything was discussed up front and included in the cost.
Once the work started, I was amazed at how quickly the sanding and staining process went. Angelo’s follow-​up with details, ensuring the work was done right, and that I was satisfied, was the sign of a professional with a passion for his work.
I was extremely pleased with the work and would highly recommend Dande West for wood flooring services. It has been almost three months since the work was done and I still smile when I look at how beautiful my wood floors turned out. If you are considering getting your floors done, talk to a few people yet make sure you choose someone who knows their flooring. I would absolutely use Dande West again.

We hired Angelo to take over a job from another contractor, who was not able to complete the job because they did not have the expertise to finish the job. Angelo came in, examined the work and explained what he had to do to complete the job. My husband and I were very impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. When the job was completed we were so happy with our new refinished floors, they looked like new floors! As I mentioned earlier, Angelo was very professional, and he is really a nice guy, with a great personality. This job was completed in May 2014, but my mom was hospitalized, and I was not able to post a review on Unilocal.My husband and I were so impressed with his job, we knew we had to share this information with others. So, now that things have settled in our lives we want to take the opportunity to thank Angelo again for the wonderful job he did on our floors.

I first spoke to Angelo at the end of November about refinishing our original hardwood floors from the 1950’s. Immediately I felt like he could do the best job just by talking to him over the phone. He knew what he was talking about and talked me through the process of refinishing since I had very little information on it. He is patient, knowledgeable and always approachable. Let me tell you, I had a lot of questions. I had just bought my home, but the hardwood floors were my main concern. There were nails and staples sticking out the hardwood from the carpet as well as huge dark stains (due to moisture) in the bedrooms that caused the slats to contract. But Angelo’s team at Dande West made our floors look brand new. I can’t even the tell there were moisture stains on the hardwood anymore! Originally, the oak hardwood had a darker stain, and we wanted it to be blonder. Angelo suggested we go for the natural look of the oak and we could not be more pleased. We opted for the Bona Mega, and again, we felt that spending the extra money to have a sturdier polyurethane was the way to go. I can’t praise Angelo and his team at Dande West enough. I’ve had such a pleasant experience with him and if quality of work matters to you, he is the way to go.

I hired Angelo to refinish my 1955 hardwood floor. It is important to me to maintain the authentic look and integrity of the original floors. Angelo provided excellent service. He arrived as he had promised. He was able to educate me as to the best craftsmanship for the floor. There was a small area that needed to have new wood slates laced into the old floor. It looks like it has always been there. The finish is pristine. I have spoken with him to do more work at my home. His price is fair and his workmanship is excellent. And he finished as we agreed he would. I would recommend Angelo without hesitation for all of your hardwood needs.

Angelo thoroughly explained the entire process for removal of the existing hardwood flooring, testing of the concrete slab, and installation of the new hardwood flooring, baseboards and molding around 4 doorways. Angelo and his crew did an excellent job. They completed the project on time. I would highly recommend them for any hardwood flooring project.

Originally we hired a handy man to refinish our hardwood floors and thought he had ruined them. We found Angelo and he was able to completely restore them and now they look new! He showed a great deal of integrity and ethic in his work. You will not be disappointed with any aspect of his work.

We bought a house that is over 130 years old and Dande West installed laminate flooring in two rooms of our home and refinished the original hardwood floor in another room. For one laminate floor, I had originally gone to a popular retail flooring store and was sold all kinds of stuff because I told them I was planning to install it myself. After talking with Angelo, I took back over $ 200 worth of items that were not needed and had the laminate floor installed by Dande West for less.
For the refinishing work, I agree with another Unilocal post that says Angelo is a true craftsman. This was my first experience with refinishing a hardwood floor, but Angelo calmed my concerns about pouring too much money into an old floor by carefully evaluating the job each step of the way. First, we pulled up a corner of the carpet to see the condition of the floor underneath. When he saw the hardwood floor was in fairly decent condition we pulled up all of the carpet. He noticed one small area of the floor that needed repaired and assured me it would match the orignal floor as closely as possible. Then he went to work sanding the floor and kept the dust to a minimum in the house. He gave us choices of stain colors and recommended we use a commercial grade finish since we have pets and he wanted to ensure the finish would last for many years. He finished the floor in the time he stated and it looks GORGEOUS! I like it much better than the laminate flooring we thought about installing in that room.
We have four other rooms that will need flooring work in the future and I will call Angelo!

A great job, Angelo is a perfectionist not only did he do a beautiful job but
he corrected work someone prior had done. Angelo is the most honest
contractor I have ever worked with. My niece referred him to be and all the
wonderful things she had to say about him were true. I would not think of
using anyone else.

Angelo did a fantastic job of refinishing our old hardwood floors. My family and I live in a house that s approximately a decade old, but these refinished make the house feel brand new.
