YEE: Slater’s 50/50

Good food. Try the salads they are good the onion rings sweet potato fries yum yum yum. They are crazy busy all the time. The staff is nice.

This review is for Unilocal event at slaters ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ hosted by Katie B. My first Unilocal elite event but Katie made it a very good and memorable one. It was very well organized; easy parking, no wait, our area was towards the back of the restaurant so there was some privacy with TVs everywhere, roomy tables, great servers, and endless waves of food.
Katie was a great host, friendly and nice. Fed us to the brim, with plenty to go. Got some memorabilia; drinking glasses, etoh flask and umbrella; for all the times I’ll be drinking in the rain. Got to meet some new cool Unilocalers, passionate about everything food, and Queenie: a bundle of energy!
Will def sign up for more events. Thx again Katie B you rock!

The portion is honestly big enough for two. The service is fast and the parking is ample. Plus its walking distance to Victoria garden, which is perfect to walk over for dessert.
Total recommend, try this place, I promise you will not regret it.

Carnivore Elites rejoice! Slater’s ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ & the always sunny Katie B. brought their A game on an overcast SoCal evening in Rancho Cuc. It all began with a bang with one FREE ALCOHOLIC drink of choice! I ordered the Bloody Mary– house-​made with bacon-​infused Three Olives Vodka, bacon salt & a huge slice of… bacon! Delish.
Next, the parade of appetizers began! There were six of us at the communal tables in the back of the restaurant, and they brought us FOUR plates of Brussels sprouts! For those of you who are not Brussels sprouts fans, give these a try anyway as Unilocaler Charlton did. They are made with bacon, walnuts, pomegranate seeds, garlic, blue cheese, bacon pretzel croutons and tossed with a bacon vinaigrette. Amazing. Then came the Mac & Cheese with Parmesan, pesto, sun-​dried tomatoes and panko crumbs. Tasty! We also received four plates of this! Very generous servings!
As if this wasn’t already enough food… Thai Sriracha chicken wings were up next. Only two plates this time ;-) but that was two for each of us. This was one of the highlights of the meal. A hint of hotness but super yummy without a lot of burn. We wanted more of these!
Famous Slater’s burgers arrived next. 1) The Frito Burger was another hands/​down favorite. It’s made with Brandt beef, bacon American cheese, bacon turkey chili, Fritos, and Thousand Island dressing on a brioche bun. I would definitely come back for this one! 2) The Old Timey, Brandt beef, American cheese, bacon, grilled onion, green leaf lettuce, tomato, thousand island dressing on a brioche bun– a classic, and 3) The 50/​50, their signature burger, made with pepper jack cheese, a sunny-​side-​up egg, avocado mash and chipotle-​adobo mayo on a brioche bun. This is the first Slater’s burger I ever had, and it is still highly satisfying.
The only slight disappointment was the dessert– the ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ Bacon Blondie. This was a brown-​sugar vanilla Blondie with peanut butter frosting, candied bacon and vanilla ice cream, a la mode. Sounds great, right? Unfortunately, the six foodie Unilocalers at our table found it to be unanimously dry. Bummer.
The servers kept us very, very happy! Slater’s gave us Pilsner-​style glasses and Katie B. treated us to Unilocal luggage tags and to a choice of Unilocal FLASK or Unilocal umbrella. FLASK! FLASK! FLASK! I was THRILLED to finally get the coveted flask! Now I can carry around bacon-​infused vodka bloody Mary’s!!!
What a great night with Katie B., Jenny, Rafael, Charlton (pronounce the CH, it’s NOT Carlton!) and other Unilocal crazies. Fun, fun, fun! Thank you Slater’s & Katie B!!!

First of all thank you Katie for another amazing YEE, not only did we have a blast but we left happy and content knowing next time we go back to Slaters we know exactly what to order.
I have been to this location before as it’s close to my house, but it was the first time I got to really taste a variety of what’s offered on the menu. Slaters was gracious enough to treat us to an alcoholic beverage, 3 apps and 3 burgers followed by dessert!
The apps were Brussels sprouts sautéed with cheese and bacon bits (beyond amazing), Sriracha chicken wings (bomb) and Pesto Mac and cheese with sun dried tomatoes (to die for). All of which is a must try.
The burgers were, Fritos crunch burger (my new favorite), old timer (it was ok) and the Slaters ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ (my original favorite).
For dessert we had the Bacon Blondie, I realized that I am not a big fan of bacon on my desserts.
This event was an all around blast! Amazing event with great food, super cool gifts to take home and the perfect environment to get to know other elites.
Next time I go back to Slaters I am going to indulge in the Brussels sprouts app and get the Fritos burger.

This was my first Unilocal Elite Event, hosted by Katie B. This event was really well-​organized, and the complimentary Slater’s glass and Unilocal flask were a nice touch!
Slater’s ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ staff were so friendly and accommodating. I had a blast meeting all the lovely people and look forward to more events in the area :)
Appetizers:
— Brussel Sprouts in Dijon Mustard: This item is not currently offered on their menu. It had good flavor, but I probably ate all the calories I need to sustain myself for a week with a small plate of this. It tasted pretty good. The server informed us they have another version where the brussel sprouts are actually raw and served with walnuts and pomegranate seeds.
— Thai Sriracha Wings: Probably my favorite of all the appetizers! It wasn’t spicy for me at all and had great flavor: D
— Sun Dried Tomato & Pesto Mac ‘N Cheese: This wasn’t bad.
Burgers:
— Fritos Crunch Burger: This was surprisingly delicious… and actually my favorite of the burgers I tried. The patty was cooked perfectly.
— Old Timey: This reminded me of an In ‘N Out burger with a patty upgrade
— ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ Burger: This was actually really good! I might opt for this one regularly because I loved the fried egg on top and the patty was kind of delicious.
Dessert:
— Bacon Blondie: Didn’t really like this because I’m not a fan of peanuts or peanut butter. I gave it a chance, however. The cake itself was a bit dry. Interesting flavor, but not something I would get again. I did however like the vanilla ice cream and a bit of chocolate sauce that came with it :)
Beverages:
–Lost Coast Watermelon Wheat: smells like watermelon, tastes faintly of watermelon, but strange aftertaste. I love watermelon, so I had high hopes for this, but I don’t think I would get this again.
–Abita Strawberry Harvest Lager: Not bad. It had a very faint hint of strawberry, and I liked it slightly more than the watermelon.
–Timmermans Framboise: Still my favorite, mostly because this is an amazingly sweet raspberry lambic, and what I would normally order at The Yardhouse.
–Lightning Thunderweizen: This had a really strange taste to it and I would not go for it again.
–Bootlegger’s Old World Hefeweizen: On my quest to find something non-​fruity that I could still drink, I tried this and it wasn’t bad. There is still hope that I may find a beer that I can say I enjoy.

As with any Unilocal event where there’s no +1s, it’s always a bit scary to see who you’ll end up with, but I ended up at a table of rather friendly and lively bunch: Queenie, Farbod, John, Todd, and Melissa.
As with any event at Slater’s 50/​50, you can be sure you’d leave stuffed. And I mean stuffed.
The menu consisted of:
— Brussel sprout salad
— Thai sriracha wings
— Sun dried tomato & pesto mac n cheese
— 3 different burgers (frito one, standard one with bacon, and the classic ⁵⁰⁄₅₀)
— bacon blondie cake
The night was fun filled with laughter and tasty food. We even left with Slater’s ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ beer glasses and Unilocal swag! (I got an umbrella while most others got a flask). Can’t wait for the next event!

This was an awesome event, and very well put together. Met some pretty awesome Elites.
The staff of the restaurant were friendly and very helpful. The food was well prepared, and delicious.
I even ate my veggies (brussel sprouts), but it helped that they were covered with bacon ;).
The Thai chicken wings packed a lot of flavor, but I think they could have been spicier.
The burgers were good, my favorite being the fritos one.
Dessert was my least favorite of the group, it was dry and just didn’t seem right.
Other than that, it’s always great to be able to sit down in an intimate setting and getting to know other Unilocalers better. And I look forward to more events.

I had a really, really fun time at my first (official) Unilocal Elite event and finally got to meet The Katie B.
What I Really Liked:
— The brussel sprouts. The mustard sauce was mind-​blowing. I could have eaten just this and been satisfied
— The buns on the burgers were light, airy and buttery. So good
— The complimentary booze is always welcome
— The service was amazing. I mean, it better be when Unilocal In The Flesh rolls through your restaurant, but I went to an event a few years ago where the opposite was true so good on Slater’s staff
— Really awesome fellow Unilocalers! And great restaurant suggestions naturally ensued. Matt, Ricardo, Ruel, Ferrenstein, Stevo. WHATTT UPPPP!!! thanks for the laughs. See y’all around :)
What I Didn’t Care For:
— The variety was a little bacon heavy. I love bacon but I woke up this morning with what felt like a massive ball of grease in my stomach and a bad case of the nasty blasties
— The mac and cheese was a bad waste of calories. Nobody at my table even wanted to take it home
— I wish there was some kind of meet and greet happy hour before the food fest. Everyone picked a seat at a table but there was no intermingling amongst the 3 or 4 tables so I really only met the 5 other guys I was sitting with. I couldn’t figure out the best way to pop between tables without making it weird.
I’m very appreciative of the opportunity. Thanks everyone for graciously welcoming an Angeleno into the Rancho ‘hood.

Rating a YEE is all about the overall EVENT, and, once again, Katie B. puts ‘em on like an Elite Member would come to expect: Awesome!
Billed as a glutinous experience, Slater’s didn’t disappoint. I ate my fill and then some more and even after that, our table still had enough for each person seated to take a bit home with them. Yowza!
I gotta say, my favorite eats of the night were the Thai Siracha Wings and the ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ Burger. Perhaps I was so pumped on the delicious, decadent foods I had already enjoyed, but desert was a major let down for me (Bacon Blondie was dry, a little dense and chalky).
You know what more than made up for the desert? The awesome Unilocalers at the event. As always, the conversations quite often turned to «foodie chats» and suggestions on where to find good grub. The best part… the peeps at my table were well traveled, so I was listening intently when they were talking about the various places they’ve been (and, most importantly, where they’ve eaten).
Unilocal swag was awesome (as usual with Katie B. puttin’ the event on). Got my much coveted Unilocal flask (guess what’ll be in my pocket during future events… lol).
Finally, hats off to my fellow elites out there, makin’ it rain on our servers (saw a couple $ 20s in the pitcher… you guys know who you are). Til next time! Can’t wait!

Another fantastic event organized by our wonderful host Katie B! This time at the famous Slaters ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ restaurant in Rancho Cucomunga.
We were treated to an assortment of delectable delights such as:
Appetizers:
— Deconstructed Guac sadly this was substituted by Shave Brussel Sprouts, can’t say that I’m a fan but they were pretty decent.
— Thai Sriracha Wings, these were the highlight of the meal, not too spicy with just the perfect kick!
— Sun Dried Tomato & Pesto Mac ‘N Cheese — Standard mac n cheese with sun dried tomato pieces on the top to give it that extra flavor.
Burgers:
— Fritos Crunch Burger, the best burger out of the 3, surprised that the Fritos was still crunchy by the time we got them.
— BBQ Brisket Burger sadly we ended up getting the «Old Timey» burger instead which is pretty much your standard bacon burger.
— ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ Burger — Slaters famous burger with 50% beef and 50% bacon. Yummylicious to the max!
Dessert:
— Bacon Blondie — I didn’t like this dessert much since it was WAY to dry. I ended up just eating the ice cream that came with it.
Beverages:
— We got to order one alcoholic beverage on the house which is pretty awesome, free booze is always welcomed!
So much food in such a little time! Out of all the events I surely didn’t end up leaving hungry. At the end of the event we were treated to some Unilocal swag which included an umbrella, a flask and a luggage tag. Slaters even gave us a complimentary glass to take home with us which was nice.
Overall I had a blast! Met some new Unilocalers in the process while enjoying some great food is always welcomed and I can’t wait to come back and eat here again! Thanks Katie B. again for a awesome time!

When I found out there was a Unilocal event for the IE AND it was for Elites AND it was at a burger joint I immediately RSVP’ed and cleared my slate for Slater’s (⁵⁰⁄₅₀).
Even though this was my first elite event, I had been to several other Unilocal events but they were all a bit of a drive for me. If this is the norm for Elite events though, u can bet your bottom dollar I’ll be trying to get into moar!
The event was located in the back of the restaurant over a few large bench style seating tables and we were treated to a Unilocal luggage tag and a complimentary adult beverage. After much deliberation I went w/​the Bacon Old Fashioned. The bacon flavor was very subtle and the drink was pretty strong.
Soon we were treated to some appetizers, burgers, and finally dessert:
Brussels Sprouts– I don’t care for Brussels sprouts so I can’t say I enjoyed this as much, but I cleared my plate like a good child who dislikes veggies but wants a tasty treat!
Thai Sriracha Wings– bone-​in chicken wings w/​a sauce that wasn’t too hot or sweet for my tastes. I enjoyed these
Sun Dried Tomatoes and Pesto Mac ‘N Cheese– tasted like your average macaroni and cheese dish and nothing really stood out to me
Fritos Crunch Burger– never tried this before and all the components pleased me. Really enjoyed this one
Old Timey Burger– I was sad we weren’t able to taste the brisket burger :(This one was a typical bacon cheeseburger w/​massive amounts of bacon. My least favorite of the three
⁵⁰⁄₅₀ Burger– having tried one of their signature ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ patties in the past (half beef and half bacon) I knew what to expect from this and it was still just as delicious
Bacon Blondie– this was ok. The cake was a tad too dry for my tastes
Before we departed, we were gifted w/​some Slater’s glassware as well as Unilocal umbrellas and Unilocal flasks (which are supposedly hard to come by?).
I def had a blast here. Massive shout outs to all my new Unilocal friends who were at my table: Courtney W, Ferrenstein H, Ricardo G, Ruel G, and Steve O. I guess I missed Charlton C, John G, and Queenie I who were apparently there as well.

These are the type of events that makes Elite Unilocalers want to stay elite, & non-​elite members to strive for this prestigious milestone. This is one of many events that Unilocal hosts to show their appreciation, to those who share their creative reviews, high recommendations, and experiences whether good or bad.
It was good to see some familiar faces (Katie B., Ruel G., John G., & Steve O.) also meet new ones (Courtney W., Matt H. & Ferrenstein H.). We started off the evening with our complimentary alcoholic beverage. Then our first appetizer came to the table. It was brussels sprouts with bits of bacon and some tasty, mustardy sauce. It was quite delicious, but being that it was the first dish I resisted to have seconds. I did not want to get full. Then the rest of goodies started coming to our table, one after another.
Thai Sriracha Chicken Wings — had a sweet taste to them, with a medium spicy kick.
Sun Dried Tomato & Pesto Mac-​N-​Cheese — creamy & delicious with a little crunch.
Fritos Crunch Burger — been wanting to try, but wasn’t brave enough to buy. Ty Unilocal,it was pretty good!
Old Timey Burger — exactly what it is, your old classic bacon cheese burger. Nothing special.
The ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ burger — was delicious! I’m glad it was served in quarter slices (I had two), because their is no way I can handle a whole burger of that. You can taste a lot of the bacon in the beef. It would be a little to overwhelming for me, as crazy as that sounds.
Lastly we had the 50/50’s bacon Blondie (with a side of vanilla ice cream), which is candied bacon and chocolate ganache, on sweet cake. It was a little dry on this particular night, but the ice cream took care of that.
At the end of the night we were spoiled with gifts, including Unilocal umbrellas, Unilocal flask’s, Slater’s glass cups, and best of all a big hug from our host, Katie B. Thank you!

This tasting had everything that makes for a great Unilocal Elite Event: lots of good food and great people to share it with.
I arrived a few minutes early, chatted with Katie B. and Ricardo G., sat down, and made new Unilocal friends, Ferrenstein H., Courtney W., Steve O., and Matt H. I had a good time learning about some local places as well as other not-​so-​local eateries that I’ll be bookmarking soon. There’s nothing better than getting recommendations straight from my fellow Unilocalers.
Our night began with cocktails; I followed Matt H.‘s suggestion of a Bacon Old Fashioned and it was good and strong (although I didn’t taste the bacon until I reached the bottom of my drink). Our first appetizer was the Shaved Brussels Sprouts, which were excellent. Since I’ve had several of the Slater’s burgers before and knew what to expect, the brussels sprouts were a nice bacon-​y surprise. Delicious! Our group did a good job of restraining ourselves, since we knew there was much more to follow. The other two appetizers were the sun-​dried tomato and pesto mac and cheese, which registered a «meh» with our group, and the Thai srirachi wings, which were more sweet than heat.
The burgers were served in quarter-​sized pieces and there was plenty to go around as we plowed through the Fritos Crunch Burger, Old Timey Burgey, and Original ⁵⁰⁄₅₀. I’ve had these before and they are consistently good. I especially like the Fritos Crunch Burger since it has chili and the addition of Fritos reminds me of my elementary school lunch favorite, Pepper Bellies.
Service was excellent throughout the night, as it always is during Elite events. Several employees stopped by our table to make sure everything was A-​OK throughout the evening. They even brought us boxes to take home the leftovers, which was a nice touch. We even scored Unilocal flasks (or umbrellas) and Slater’s glasses. Cool!
Thanks again to Katie B. and Slater’s for a fun night of shared food, drink, and laughs. Can’t wait to do it again!

Another wonderful Unilocal Elite event. I arrived at the place early around 6:45 to be greeted warmly by our gracious event host Katie B. We had the most wonderful appetizers of Brussel sprouts with bacon, Mac and cheese with sun dry tomatoes and Sriracha wings. I love the wings!!! Wish we could’ve gotten more. By the time the appetizers were done, I was 75% full! We sampled 3 types of juicy delicious burgers and had blondie aka mode. I especially loved the Fritos Burger. Very unique and distinctive. The Fritos gave the burger unexpected crunchy texture that is very pleasing. What a great combination. I’m so overstuffed and they were kind enough to give us boxes to go. I love Unilocal Elite food events even though there is no +1 allowed. I actually enjoyed meeting and dining with new friends. Thanks Katie for another fun night.

What awesome event with tons of glorious food. And because it’s Slater’s 50/​50, the portions were über generous! Known for their «Excesstacy» menu, I am a fan of Slater’s and their commitment to serve bacon on nearly every dish from the kitchen.
The place was packed as usual, but the restaurant dedicated a set of tables for the group in the back. Though it was dimmer than the rest of the dining room (some picture taking suffered), the bench seating made it possible to socialize and helped with the communal style plate sharing.
Menu run down:
Shaved Brussel Sprouts — topped with bacon of course
Thai Sriracha Wings — hint of ginger, didn’t quite taste the Sriracha in there
Sun-​Dried Tomato & Pesto Mac N Cheese — nice combination of ingredients
Frito Crunch Burger — the burger I never knew I would like; contrasting textures are always a win
Old Timey Burger — classic; the bacon was just perfect
Signature ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ Burger — oh, that bacon & beef patty
Bacon Blondie — not my preferred dessert, but a nice closing touch with bacon on top, naturally
Props to LA East CM Katie B. for getting a YEE out to these parts and gifting us some lovely swag (finally got a flask!). I’m grateful to have been a part of this event and meet other Elites in the larger Unilocal community. And thank you to Slater’s ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ staff for hosting and our servers for keeping the rounds of food and drinks coming. I’m always left with a good impression when I go to this location.

I was at the 1^st Slater ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ in Anaheim Hills Way back when. Now Katie B is hosting her Unilocal ELA elite at this newer Resturant in Rancho Cucamonga Victoria Gardens.
The communal bench style sitting made it easy for us to share our meal and have conversation besides our common factor of food.
My drink of the night was Bacon Bloody Mary. Yep you see it. 2 big slab of bacon. & a dang good drink.

The Thai Sriracha Chicken Wings were the bomb. Very good flavor with a mild heat.

Dessert :Blondie was more of a dry cake texture served with vanilla ice cream. Not my to my liking.
Best part of the evening was our table guessing what the Unilocal swag would be. I was swooning for the Slater beer glasses & Tora was talking about the hard to get Unilocal Flasks. Right then & there Katie B pops up at our table and announces our gifts like a Fairy Godmother granting our wishes. I got my glass & flask while others choose Unilocal Umbrella & glass. It was such a fun night sharing stories over a wonderful tasting of items from the Slaters menu.

Man oh man, Rancho Cucamonga is FAR! But for a Unilocal Tasting by Katie B — Queenie will travel! As many of you already know, Katie B. throws some of the greatest Unilocal events, so although I knew this would be a bit of a drive (40 minutes –not that bad), I made sure to make arrangements to get here. After seeing a couple of my favorite faces, meeting some new ones, and being treated to some good ol American fare, I knew I had made the right choice. :)

Hooray for my first elite event! Shout out to Katie B. for arranging this event. I shall write a complete review after I recover from the food coma!
Here is my rundown of today’s festivities. Arrived and was automatically directed to the back where we were seated. We had the entire back of the restaurant to ourselves. Each of us had a complimentary drink that we could order. Then the flood slowly started making its way to the table.
Appetizers:
— Brussel Sprouts — hint of mustard, lot of flavor, bacon added nice touch
— Thai Sriracha Wings — fairly sweet, not enough heat in my opinion (couldn’t taste sriracha)
— Sun Dried Tomato & Pesto Mac ‘N Cheese — can never go wrong with mac and cheese. Tomatoes added a nice flavor that compliments the pesto well.
At this point, I was already pretty full but then the main entrees were served.
Burgers:
— Fritos Crunch Burger — nice crunch from the fritos but the meat was a little dry
— Bacon Cheese Burger — thick cut of bacon. nothing too special.
— ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ Burger — Hands down, the best. No wonder this place is named after this burger.
Dessert: Bacon Blondie: served a la mode with candied bacon!
Overall, I loved the event. I was fortunate enough to bring a lot of food home. My new Unilocal friends gave pity to the broke college student (me) and insisted that I bring a bunch of it home. I did not argue with them. It was nice to meet so many friendly people and if the food wasn’t enough of a treat, we were also given souvenir glasses from Slaters as well as a Unilocal umbrella or flask. Thanks again to Katie B. for hosting this event that is a little more local! I had a blast.
