The wife and I have been coming here for years. They got the hook up for all your vacuum cleaner /​carpet shampooer needs.
Bags, belts, service… You name it, they got it. All straight to you with a smile. Ran and operated the way a small business should be.

I’ve purchased from this shop a few times now. I first purchased a high end canister vacuum about 10 years ago and had it serviced a few times over the past ten years. When it finally broke I returned to this shop to purchase my next vacuum. This store carries and specializes in high end quality machines. You will pay higher prices than getting a vacuum at Target but you will know the difference in the quality. I expect this next machine to last me several years and I will service it Bay Cities when the time comes.

Have used this vac repair shop a few times with no problem, brought in a BISSEL carpet steam cleaner for repair and when I went to pick it up they insisted I brought in a dirt devil. After arguing with the VERY rude man that INSISTED that the ticket was for the dirt devil what was I supposed to do??? NEVER will I step foot near that place again. I also find it very interesting that the majority of the 4 and 5 star reviews are from folks out of town. I guess the people that live in San Pedro have had different experiences???

This place is unbelievable. Brought in a Dyson that was under warranty, and they tried to sell me a bunch of service, claiming I had ruined the vacuum (like the lady who recently wrote that her «motor was burnt out»). Bay Cities wanted to charge me $ 150 to repair it, despite its warranty. Took it to another shop, also a certified Dyson repair place, and was charged NOTHING because it was all under warranty. Bay Cities also tried to sell me parts saying I had damaged them, when the parts in question actually NEVER need to be replaced. They should not be in business anymore.

Best Vacuum Store Around! They are your local vacuum EXPERT! The guys at Bay Cities are very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly, and I’ve learned a lot from them. After having a Dyson for years, I’ve switched to an American made Riccar. Bagless is not always best, especially if you have a dog and your Dyson motor burned out. I’ve learned you need to get your vacuum maintained regularly like a car and get the belts and filters changed out. So once a year I try to bring my vacuum in. Vacuum’s CAN last a lifetime if you take care of them! Now I know why Hoover is so cheap. They break over time and they don’t have service places and people think it’s just as well to buy a new one. My Riccar upright has all the attachments to do it all and the features to go from carpet to hardwood and be strong on carpet and gentle on curtains. It’s a simple machine. I notice when my Riccar is not acting right or needs a tune up. I can count on Bay Cities for that. I’ve been so happy with my Riccar and the service that comes along with it. –Your Happy Customer

I hate this place and will never go here again brought my vac in cause it was clogged, the guy told me I need a new vacuum and suggested I buy a $ 300.00 one I told him no thanks I’ll just get my fixed $ 125.00 later all they did was put something in the hose to unclog it I was there 2 minutes it took longer for him to tell me about the new vac he wanted to sell me, when I got home I realized the hose was still clogged I called and talked to an older asshole who was rudder than f**k and said «ok what do you want us to do «I’ll do the drive to Carson. Or Torrance from now on to fix my vacuum

Rip off city. Took my vacuum in here to be assessed as the belt kept breaking. They kept it for about 5 days and then called to say it would be $ 150 to fix, but I could get $ 35 toward a trade in. Normally I would do my research and shop around, but somehow got talked in to buying a piece of garbage «Raccar «brand (that has no bells and whistles at all) for a ridiculous $ 300. Yes, $ 300. EH? What a rip off, you can get a top of the line one with attachments for that kind of dough. My mistake. These guys are super fake and just after your money. I would be surprised if they even spend one minute looking at your malfunctioning vacuums, they just wait a few days, make up some story that sounds feasible and then try to sell you something at inflated prices. They all talk the big talk at you with ease, just like shady like a bunch of used car salesmen.
My other beef is that this model says on it «made in USA» and they used this as a big selling point. But if you look closer, in TINY letters it says «with globally sourced components». Misleading? Everything about this store is misleading. Stay away. My Raccar, that was more realistically worth maybe $ 50, was in the garbage within a couple of years, what a surprise! I am never going back there, EVER. All the bags and parts are also WAYYY overpriced. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else if you need vacuum stuff, there are other, better, more honest places right here in town. BUYER BEWARE!

A wonderful mom and pop shop! I got my vacuum from here 2 years ago and have never had a problem with it. I will definitely be returning here.

Bay Cities Vac, Sew & Carpet is the best! Whenever I have problems with my vacuum, which isn’t often, this is the first place I turn to. I can count on them to give me an honest appraisal and fix my vacuum for a decent price. In addition, they have every accessory you can think of for any type of vacuum.

I wish I liked this place a little better, and I go back and forth about it in my head. They serviced my Dyson a few times because it was (uh-​oh) losing suction. It worked for a while and then would start failing again. When I took it in for more servicing, they implied Dyson wasn’t that great and I should consider a better vacuum.
Finally I called Dyson and they taught me how to take apart part of the machine myself where I had sucked up a pen. I’m certain this was the problem before, and I wish the folks at this store had educated me so I could have saved myself the servicing fee. I mean, I realize this is my own stupid mistake, but it was also really easy for me to fix on my own. So I feel they were a little disingenuous. And despite their misgivings about Dyson, my vacuum has rocked it ever since I learned how to fix it myself.
However, they also turned me on to the only pet stain remover I’ve ever used that actually worked, and their sewing machine section is pretty drool-​worthy. So I’ll keep coming and I’ll rate right in the middle…

I took my 20 year old Singer 2210 sewing machine in as it was looping (Meaning thread was lose. They checked it out and told me all the gears were bad and needed to be replaced. The guy also said that the original gears were nylon and Singer had been sold many times and now the replacement gears would be plastic and not advisable to fix they would just break again. The price was well over $ 100. I was suspicious and told him not to fix it.
When I went to pick it up, I said so whats the deal with this. He said well you should just throw it out, its not worth fixing. I then informed all I did was hem jeans and light sewing. He told me with the plastic gears, I wouldn’t even be able to sew jeans. He than said maybe they would give me $ 100 towards a new sewing machine. I left and took the machine to another repair shop. Lo and behold, there was nothing wrong with my machine except it needed to be oiled and aligned. My machine works great now.
I normally don’t write negative reviews like this but felt compelled to as it was NOT COOL what they were trying to do.

I have been here twice and both times was impressed with the products they offer for every kind of flooring issue from hardwood-​tile-​carpet-​all of which I have. The first time for a new belt for the vacuum-​where i got some good advice and the second yesterday because I in all my genius spilled bright red nail polish on my carpet!!!
After spending 24 hours trying everything under the sun they say to on the internet and simply creating a pink larger stain I went to the experts at Bay Cities Vac Sew and Carpet. I told the friendly guy behind the counter my dilemma. He pretty much told me there was NOTHING I could do.
Now at first I was pretty upset. I mean my carpet is a pretty good one and I was thinking-​oh he just wants to make me buy a whole room of carpet-​but the conversation just never went that direction. He kindly talked me out of buying their cleaners saying they won’t work.
I then asked about mini shampooers and he also offered that they won’t work. When I discussed the option of removing the damaged piece and replacing it with another he offered the fact that it would be noticeable. Lastly, when I inquired about bleaching and recoloring the carpet he said that was no good either as peeps could tell.
Granted hearing all this negativity sucked. However, I do respect that he told me exactly how he felt regarding my methods of getting the polish out. Not once did I feel pressure to buy something. I dunno maybe it was reverse psychology but it gave me confidence in the business.
I appreciated the honest interaction and will definitely go back when I need something. However as to the advice-​I am a stubborn sort and not going to give up on my stain. Still scrubbing!

The sales staff is extremely knowledgeable about the mechanics of sewing machines and what makes one better than another in terms of its construction and features. I found that the manufacturer websites are actually better to peruse to find out which model is the best fit since everyone is so unique in what they’re looking for in a machine. They have new and used models and carry some beautiful brands.
My mom traded in her broken old Kenmore for a relatively inexpensive computerized Janome. After trying her Janome for a month, I traded in a very inexpensive machine I’ve had for a few years for a mid range Janome with more accessories and a nice hard case. Love it!
On the least expensive models, you may find a slightly cheaper price on line, but you won’t be able to walk in for training, questions, and or service with your machine like you can with Bay Cities. I found that very helpful. On the more costly models, their pricing is right on. Another hint– if you don’t have a trade in, find one!
They are very positive about Janome, but after using two Janome machines vs. my old Singer, my Brother, and my mom’s old Kenmore, who wouldn’t be? My Janome sews ‘like butter”! :-)
As always, be a good consumer, ask lots of questions, research on line, figure out how it all ‘works’ and then make your decision vs. making on the spot decisions since these items are purchases you don’t go out and make every day.

This weekend I got to use the extremely expensive piece of crap Vacuum they sold my mom. After a very short time this RR brand vacuum broke, and is totally useless. In fact my back and neck hurt after holding the handle together because it was broken.
My mom says she was talked into buying this one, and now it’s always broken. She is busy, and they don’t really want to do anything to fix it. Next time we are going to buy a Dyson at Costco. The return policy is great when your POS vacuum breaks down. They will try to sell you the most expensive crap they can. Did I mention the bags are expensive too. What a waste.

This is San Pedro … do you really think you can be rude and disrespectful without word getting out? It’s okay that your prices suck and people will shop locally — unless your crap attitude drives everyone out of town.
My wife was looking for a bag for our Kenmore vac, and Bay Cities was the closest place that carried the right bag. She asked the guy which bag was the correct bag, and he came off with a total attitude. My mother-​in-​law happened to be along for the ride, and she was shocked at this guy’s rude attitude and disrespect.
Nice job, jerk. My mother-​in-​law runs the hell out of her sewing machine and is in charge of the purchases and repairs at her job (including purchasing and/​or paying for the repair of vacuums). Her job spent over $ 1,000 in vacuums last year, and she was considering making the purchases and repairs at your place. Now, not so much.
Don’t worry — in addition to this Unilocal!review, I’ll be telling all of my friends how bad you suck and making personal requests that they NOT shop with you. And be glad I wasn’t with my wife when you gave her the attitude.

I brought in my year old vacuum and was told that I had voided my warranty by removing the a part of the vacuum which was not supposed to be removed. So I called Dyson and they said no problem, it was this service center that would not conceive on their position. I assume they make more money on consumer payment then warranty payment. Further, they tried to sell me on servicing my vac which it did not need (per my conversation with the Dyson rep).
I will not return to this establishment.

It’s not like I go to this place more than twice a year, and it’s nice to have a place in town when you need it. But I went in today to get a filter for my Eureka and the guy pulls out one and says it’s $ 20. No problem. I notice that the box is different from the last one I bought, and I ask the guy if it’s an aftermarket part. I was paying the same amount that I would if it was made by the manufacturer, so I wanted to be clear.
I asked him if it was aftermarket, and he said no, it’s not. It was clearly labeled on the box as aftermarket, so I asked him again, «So, this is made by Eureka?»
«It sure is.» Whatever. The box says it’s made by Envirocare Tech. Either he’s an idiot, or he thinks I’m one. Regardless, I won’t be back.

I needed a replacement belt for my vaccuum, so I did what most people would do. I went to Home Depot. Someone then pointed me to a shelf way in the back of the store with a small selection of 4 belts. I had no idea which one was the one I needed. So I left and went to Ace Hardware. I had a similar experience.
Then on someone’s recommendation, I tried this local spot, Bay Cities Vac Sew & Carpet. The second I entered the place I knew this was where I should have come straightaway. I told the guy behind the desk that I needed a belt for my Eureka Power Vac, and he said «do you know which model» and proceeded to tell me that due to some ambiguous branding, it could be a couple different things. Luckily I spied a vacuum almost identical to mine and said «It looks like that», and he instantly knew what I needed. This guy knew his stuff inside and out! No chance I would have gotten that kind of help at a box store.
I don’t know if the belt I ended up buying cost a buck or two more. It may or may not have. But even if it did, I don’t care in the slightest. I don’t care paying a little more for service that excellent. I’ll take it any day of the week.
