I haven’t been to Kobe Grill in years, so today I thought I’d take a roll down memory lane with my Gf. Wow that was a mistake. The place has definitely lost its touch. There used to be nice fun employees who’d greet you when you entered. That’s gone. It’s a little run down too, it’s almost a little sad and depressing in there. I ordered the Tyler Special and she ordered the beef teriyaki plate. Both had what tasted like old meat. The bread on the sandwich was old and crusty, the meat was tasteless and the veggies weren’t even fresh. Never again. What a waste of money.

Agree with previous. Sad… Arrived just a few minutes after lunch hour, restaurant was completely empty. Ordered caterpillar roll which is supposed to include eel. Well, a little speck of eel on each side, but the rest of the roll was empty, rice and imitation crab mix. Soup is fishy like another previous review included. Salad was old lettuce. I also used to come here often, hadn’t been for a while, expected something much better. TURNITAROUND!

I used to be a huge fan of kobe grill. Great dishes at decent prices. In the past year they have really gone down the drain. Poor quality food, and tiny portions for the prices you’re now paying. I’ll post a pic of what I got for $ 20. And their spicy tuna roll.

I always order the crunch roll… so good! The soup however, was very salt and fishy tasting to me.

Definitely my favorite place to order salmon sushi from! I usually get the Wahington Roll or the Salmon tempura with eel sauce and crunch flakes. Anytime I get sushi I try to get something as close to the Washington roll as possible. Definitely my go to place for sushi.

Horrible. I can’t believe that fast food has better quality than this place. We asked for vegetables instead of rice and all we got was unseasoned cabbage that had no taste. Nothing tasted good from soup to frozen salad to unseasoned Kalbi and chewy teriyaki chicken and beef.

The place itself is pretty old and could probably use some renovations. Sushi is decent as «fast food». Priced accordingly. We tried a lot of their rolls but not a lot of sashimi., Doesn’t look like they have high enough turnover for sashimi.

I got food poisoning at this place. Keep in mind that food born illness can happen at the best of restaurants. Sometimes that nasty bacteria just finds a way to sneak in now matter how clean and up to standard a restaurant is. I know this from working in the food service industry. It just happens. My bad. When I got the lukewarm miso soup, I should have sent it back. Definitely was not up to temp. I took a couple spoonfuls and left it. The crunchy rolls I ordered didn’t taste bad or spoiled, but they just tasted a little off. Again, my bad. I should have taken them back. But to be honest, the staff there was so surly and inattentive, I just felt that I was not going to get my money back or anything. So took a few bites and left. Was in a hurry to get on the road. Boy, was I sorry a few hours later. Not pretty. It pains me to write this review because I want to support local eateries that are not part of a huge chain. But, all I can think of is someone with immune deficiency or a weaker constitution eating there and really getting sick. Restauranteurs owe it to the public to adhere to the highest standards in cleanliness and safety. They shouldn’t be in business if they can’t handle it.

I had the spicy tuna bowl but it was about 10% tuna, 40% steamed vegetables and 50% rice. My friend had the Love Love Roll which is practically all tuna for $ 2 more than my bowl. If you want tuna get this, or go to Sushi Cal on PCH and Eshelman as you get more tuna in the bowl and it’s cheaper. Edit: I came back to this spot again and ordered the Love Love Roll(spicy tuna and slice of avocado with tuna wrapped around). It was very good and not as spicy as the bowl. My boyfriend got a beef teriyaki plate and it was tasty, but maybe a bit too much sauce on it.

This is a small little restaurant in a strip mall. I really like this place. I go here every couple months and I think the food is good and are reasonably priced. I always get the teriyaki chicken and the fried tempora roll sushi. It’s big enough to share with another person. The restaurant opened about 10 years ago and I think it’s a little run down and dirty. I would just order and pick up instead of eating there. The owners are nice but don’t speak very good english and they are hard to understand. It’s a pretty good restaurant.

Meh… not impressed… well NOT be back. The food wasn’t terrible and was priced appropriately, but there were some sanitary and hospitality issues. Sanitary issues, in particular, bug me… a lot. I went here to grab a quick meal to go for me and my mom. I approached the counter and waited as the young, disinterested, teenage girl mustered up enough give-a-damn to stare at me with a blank dead inside expression and murmur out the words«What do you want?» followed by, what I can only assume was, a great sigh of relief to be done with that. I order one roll, she sighed again. I ordered my second roll, another sigh. Third, long sigh. It’s as if my being there was the biggest obtrusion in the world because that meant she had to do her job and not text whoever or zone out and ignore life and all its duties. Not once was there even a glimmer of her trying to act interested. She made it pretty clear she had no desire to do anything her job entails. And then I wait. She took out my salads from the fridge and placed them on the counter which would have been fine had I not had to wait 35 minuets to get my full order. At that point they were room temperature and the creamy dressing had separated. Salads are basic and the dressing is probably good(and homogenous) when cold. The rolls weren’t bad. Nothing tasted too off… beside the ginger. I love ginger, a lot, and I wasn’t able to take more than two bite of theirs. It tasted as if they opened the ginger container and accidentally drop an open bottle of windex inside and decided not to waste it and just try to wash it off a bit. The rice was a little off, but not too bad. just needed to be stickier. The fillings/toppings of the rolls were pretty good(calamari roll being really good). Another problem I had was only 1 of my 3 rolls were cut all the way. The other two being cut only about 2/3rd-¾th of the way. Meaning the seaweed was still intact and having to pull apart each piece kind of messed up the integrity on whole. Wasabi was good. Word of warning to all future patrons. I would think twice before ordering a smoothy. I saw the blender that had part of a drink still in it and it was just sitting there… It had obviously been there a while before I arrived and was still there when I left 35 minuets later. Thats not sanitary… And the state of the floors and some counters lead me to believe that nothing gets cleaned too well in that store. Remember that a broom, paper towels, and some elbow grease can go a long way in at least giving the appearance of cleanliness. If thats what the front of the house looks like then I most certainly do not have high hopes for the back. Will not be back anytime soon. The average food and okay prices don’t provide enough allure to pull me past the subpar hospitality(to say the least) and sanitary offenses. Use to be much better when they first opened, What happened?

One word for my fellow Unilocalers. ROACHES! Didn’t expect to have dinner with our little roach friends. Eating a bowl of mediocre udon while seeing not one but two little guys cross my path. After two kills by my napkin I told the owner that he needed to do a little fumigating and he oddly pretended that he had no clue what I was saying. Ive eaten at many dirty restaurants even ones that bore a C sign in the outside but I’ve never actually dinned with the little critters. Don’t let the area fool you. This place is dirty. They don’t even deserve a star. Yuck!

I miss Rinaldi’s! This place took over the space and it is definitely not a sandwich shop but they have Rinaldi sandwich names on their menu. Makes me wonder if the OG owners gave them permission to do that OR the new owner just slapped it on the menu with the hopes people would buy… either way I doubt the quality is as great. I usually order a Bento special, which comes with miso soup, salad, vegetable tempura, 4 pc. cali rolls, rice, and a protein(chicken/beef). It’s a lot of food for a pretty decent price, about $ 8-$ 10. The food is okay, nothing to rave about but if you’re in that plaza, craving some sushi or Japanese food then I would say go ahead and pay them a visit, not a bad deal at all. I have noticed a lot of police officers frequent this place. Not sure what’s up with that =/

Call me an ardent defender of the«little guy,» but I’m going to have to pretty much disagree with all the negative reviews about this place. I frequent this establishment, which is run by a socially coarse but extremely hard-working man. His food is healthy, tasty, and very, very reasonably priced. My «Go-To» meal is a teriyaki chicken plate with a side of gyoza that I usually share with whomever graces me with their company. Now, for a mere $ 6.95, I get a huge scoop of rice, some teriyaki chicken, which isn’t the best but is totally undeserving of the negative reviews it received, and a side of steamed vegetables, which I don’t much care for but eat anyways for nutritional value. The gyoza’s always delicious, crispy, and I love the shoyu that it comes with. The menu in this establishment is the most diverse I’ve seen in the area, serving Japanese, Korean, Italian, and good ol’ American food, all of which are reasonably priced. Usually, you’d think food this cheaply priced is sketch, but I’ve learned a long while ago that that isn’t the case with Kobe Grill. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, and here’s mine. Just thought that I’d give this place a «fairer» Unilocal reputation. I’m not preaching that this is the best teri house ever, but it’s damn well worth a try. I love this place.

This is not a spot for real sushi. I wouldn’t order anything that has to do with raw fish, but I got the teriyaki chicken platter and a few rolls including eel, crab filling, and avocado. Each roll had ALOT of crab filling and ALOT of rice. :P I guess this equals a filling meal, but I was not down with this. The young kid at the counter was really friendly, however, but my order took an extremely long time to complete. :/I probably won’t come back, especially when there’s an In n Out around the corner.
