Had dinner here last night it’s still our absolute favorite sushi place in this area! The quality of the fish is outstanding and the rolls are perfection! We love sitting at the sushi bar if possible to watch all the cool creations being made. The Dove Canyon roll and Burrito Roll are my favorite. Don’t need to go anywhere else!

I have the pleasure of going back to Sake and having dinner for the second time. I normally would never be found in a sushi restaurant. As I never liked sushi. Things have changed thanks to Sake and the way the made my dinners. I loved the Boom, Paradise and Dove Canyon sushi. Fresh and full of flavor and something that a once non sushi eater looks forward to eating. I also found the staff yelling and running around the place entertainment.

Sake Sushi is my favorite sushi restaurant. The fish is always the best here. It is always fresh unlike some places near by. Jinny always makes my husband and I feel like family every time we go. I couldn’t say enough good things about this restaurant. In Japanese culture, a way to thank the chef or waitress is to buy them a drink to show your appreciation of what they have prepared for you. We buy them a drink every time! We always sit at the bar and Steve is our chef. He’s always so nice to us and makes us feel at home. Thank you so much Sake Sushi your are truly the best!

AMAZING service and atmosphere. Very busy on a Saturday night and Jeanie the amazing server did everything possible to keep us happy. She is seriously the life of the restaurant and the reason this place has been in business for so long! Love this fresh fish and reasonable prices

Great food, great service Came in on a Thursday night apprehensive due to negative reviews. Glad I did not let that stop us. Had a wonderful experience with lots of good food. Came in to «Welcome to the Jungle» by GnR playing on the radio… YES! My family of 4 sat down, greeted quickly, drink orders quick and food orders right after. Within 5 minutes food started to come out and before you know it the table is covered with plates of apps, sushi and meals. Kids meals are awesome… even come with fries and ketchup! Sushi was great, teriyaki portions were huge and katsu curry was really good. In and out in an hour. BE back soon! If you come in on a Friday or Saturday night and expect fast service from a small business, you may want to go to a chain restaurant instead.

Udon was so salty that even my 6 year old daughter couldn’t eat it. The server was rude when I sent the food back. Very bad experience overall. Bad food plus bad service. Don’t come here

1) ordered sushi, udon for kids and chicken teriyaki for kids. 2) waited 30 minutes for first sushi… 3) kids waited an hour and 30 minutes for udon!!! Omg. Seriously? On a school night! Got there at 6, left at 8!!! And btw, for you sushi lovers, sushi was not good. Owned by non Japanese peeps.

First time I had walked in to sake sushi left me with a horrible first impression. I asked if I can place an order to go and the hostess says: «no not on a Friday night it would be an hour wait sorry.» I immediately called niko niko sushi who would have my order ready in 10 minutes on a Friday night.

Their food is always a great value and you HAVE to try to ‘Bamboo Roll’. It feels like a family coming here and Genie is the best. It’s a weekday staple for me and my friends!!!

Based on some of the good reviews here, my family and I decided to go here for dinner this past Wednesday. We went later in the evening so the restaurant was not very crowded. The waitress came over and took our orders and explained that her and the other waitress were«drunk witches.» The food all came out at different times, and it was honestly the worst sushi I’ve ever had. The spicy tuna roll was unnaturally red, it smelled very fishy, and the seaweed was very tough and chewy. The other rolls we purchased were very similar in consistency and smell. The waitress even brought out the wrong roll for my brother and proceeded to tell him he was wrong and that is what he ordered, when he used to be a server at Niko Niko and is very familiar with every type of sushi roll. I saw the waitresses and sushi chefs fill up their beer glasses to full at least 5 times in the hour we were there(without any customer purchasing them alcohol, which I know is common in sushi restaurants). I honestly can’t believe this behavior is allowed, and that uit has continued especially after reading some previous reviews. There are so many delicious sushi restaurants in the area, and this is not one of them. I was up all night with a stomach ache from my meal and I will never recommend this establishment to anyone.

Just stick with sashimi. Had the ninja roll… the combination of ingredients just didn’t work and the chef put too much lemon on it and it was pricey. Also had a poke bowl and that was good. Stay away from the agedashi tofu… the batter they used was too gummy. Very busy night but service was still good. One of the waitresses seemed very frazzled and sounded like she was yelling at other staff. Didn’t make for an enjoyable meal with someone barking out orders across the restaurant.

When there’s Niko Niko in town, every other sushi joint needs to understand that their game must be elevated to match that level. Sake sushi has potential, certainly more than the lamentably bad service of Mizuiro, but there’s clear room for improvement. For one thing, perhaps a busy Saturday night isn’t the time to start a new sushi chef, especially when he’s the only guy behind the bar. This made the wait time for everything we ordered excruciatingly long. On the plus side, because we had to wait so long the waitress gave us a couple of house sakes to dull the pain. That was nice. The quality of the sushi varied from piece to piece. My barometer is always the maguro(tuna), which was of average quality. The thing is, unless you’re going to a very nice, expensive place most sushi restaurants can vary in fish quality from day to day, sometimes hour to hour. So this is usually a YMMV experience. Thankfully, as evidenced by the free sake, the service here is very good. Keeping customers happy, especially when they’re hungry, is priority número uno.

I’ve been to Sake Sushi a few times. The sushi itself is from OK to good depending on what you order, with that alone I’d probably give them 3.5 stars. Unfortunately, they can’t deal with a half full restaurant. The service immediately goes to sh*t. In a table of three, we waited more than an hour for our first roll, the second arrived ten minutes later and we’re still waiting for the rest of the order. It seems like you need to buy shots or beer for the sushi chefs and the waitresses to guarantee a fast delivery. That seemed to work for the table next to ours and for a couple at the sushi bar. When we complained about the poor service and for the still awaited next rolls, there was no attempt from anybody to make it right. When I got the check, it even had rolls that we didn’t ever receive.

Sake Sushi can be crowded sometimes, but it’s always worth the wait. If you really like sushi, you already know to sit at the bar. Being able to interact with the person preparing your meal is part of the sushi experience, and is always a good way to get tips on what’s particularly good on that day(or try newly created special items). I’ve never been disappointed here. For those who complain about phone orders, I’m just puzzled why you would pass up the opportunity to experience your meal instead of eating it out of a styrofoam container. There are plenty of delicious rolls for those who like that sort of thing, and the sushi and sashimi never disappoint. Like at any sushi place, don’t hesitate to ask the chef what is really good or what just came in — he’ll always tell you.

Like many of the sushi spots in this area, Sake Sushi’s menu consists mainly of rolls, most of which are variations of a California Roll with random stuff on top. And sauce. So. Much. Sauce. They are definitely catering to what their OC neighborhood wants and likes. My tastes are a little simpler, and fortunately if you venture past the fried things and sauce, there is a nice variety of fresh things to try. Standouts among the items the chef recommended: Bluefin tuna Hamachi Black snapper All were very fresh and well-presented. It was funny to see the confusion on the faces of some of the other sushi bar diners when the plates came out with just… fish(how it’s supposed to be!). No sauce. No fried pieces of anything. While not my first choice, Sake Sushi is a solid A-OK.
