Absolutely love going to smiths liquor. They have pretty much anything your heart desires. Including cigars, cheese, smoked meet and, of course, a lot of alcohol.

So I feel a bit like a lush saying I have a favorite liquor store. I actually have 3 in Rapid, and this is definitely one of them! The staff here is extremely knowledgable, and I often stop in for beer or wine recommendations based on what I’m making for dinner. They have a great liquor selection, but the real joy is their beers and wines. I love a good stout or porter, my husband a good ale, and they have always been able to satisfy both of us. Their wine selection is large, with lots of wines at different price points. They also have a great sake, ice wine, and port selection, which I don’t see very often. Beer tastings on Thursday evenings(come on the first Thurs of the month as the distributors are there and often give away goodies). Wine tastings with cheese/meat pairings on Friday evenings. The sausages and salamis are sold right there in the store. They have some wonderful cheese choices from , but please try the excellent SD made Dimock cheeses! They have a walk-in humidor with a nice selection of cigars as well. And I hope you have the opportunity to meet Bernard, the smallest member of their team. He is the handsomest French Bulldog it has ever been my pleasure to meet!

If you ever find yourself in Rapid City and need to stock up on alcohol Smith Liquor Gallery is a great place to stop in. This well laid out store carries a ridiculous selection of alcohol as well as locally made cheeses and smoked meats. You will find several great beers available and a large selection of wine. I mistakenly thought I would be stuck with crap beer while in SD but the buyer at this store, who was working when I stopped in, is a beer snob so the selection was on point. I opted to purchase a case of South Dakota wines to bring back to California for a tasting party and could not believe how expensive their locally made libations were. If you are on a budget just stick to beer. peace, love, and good booze ~ chase
