Family Dental has been part of the fabric of Reading life for over 30 years and is proud to have helped thousands of people in town to be proud of their smiles.

Dr. Mu began her dental career in Reading as part of a three-​dentist team that opened an office at 604 Main Street in 1981. Dr. Mu moved the office to its current location in 1989 and now oversees a multi-​specialty practice that includes a knowledgeable and friendly staff of dentists, hygienists, assistants, and coordinators. We can take care of every dental need in a single setting for your entire family.

Family Dental’s professional family dentists, oral surgeon, orthodontist, periodontist and endodontist are experienced and caring members of the dental community from internationally respected dental schools including Tufts, Harvard, and Boston University.

The practice has received several top awards over the years from various readers’ choice polls and remains more invested in the local community than ever.

I have been a patient of Family Dental for over 30 years. The office is always bright and cheery. The staff including the front desk, dental assistants, hygienists and dentists are always friendly. I especially recommend Dr Mu for painless dentistry.

I love this place! I live in New York and drive all the way here for appointments. Dr. Mu is the nicest lady and the entire staff (and many of her patients!) has been with her for decades.
I’m not sure what the other negative reviews are talking about as I’ve always had positive experiences since I started coming here, 5 years ago.

I’ve been a patient here my whole life– back when there were No Cavity Club field trips for the little kids. You can tell the staff and dentists are like family and care about their patients.
I’ve never been scared of going to the dentist– Dr. Mu has nimble little fingers (for reaching deep in your mouth) and is great with kids. The other dentists and staff all are knowledgable and have a great sense of humor (and strong Boston accents!)
The office is run like a well-​oiled machine– super efficient and professional. If you need a dentist or cleaning, go here.

Family Dental did not provide the proper care for my 6 year old, which resulted in a much more significant issue than if they detected the problem early on. Family Dental missed giving what should have been standard x-​rays to a 5.5−6.5 yr old and also missed a serious infection that required antibiotics. I’d recommend a pediatric dental facility for children, so that your child is not having to undergo the number of procedures my daughter now needs to have done. Very disappointed.

I had been going here for 3 years, and at that time the only complaint I had was the secretary wasn’t the nicest person… Recently I had my 3 month cleaning due on a Saturday afternoon (I took a half day just to make sure I had this appointment because it takes so long to book), prior to Saturday of my appointment I was called 3 times to ask if I could come in earlier than 1:30, I got out of work at 1 driving from Charlestown to reading so I said I will try and come in as soon as I can. Unexpected traffic occurred and at 1:25 I was being gracious and called to let them know I would be a few minutes late (I was getting off the 95 exit at this point/​the reading exit) the secretary (who now I believe to be one of the RUDEST people in customer service) told me we would have to RESCHEDULE your appointment. I was only going to be at the most 5 minutes late and I was being nice by giving them a heads up. I called back and told her how unfair this situation was and all she said was «well now you’ll be 10 minutes late if you come in». I work in health care and I couldn’t believe how inconsiderate this was, and how terrible the customer service was… Do your self a favor and go to any other dentist office than this one.

My family and I have been going here since its inception. I have always appreciated the caring staff who I have gotten to know personally over the years. They have been able to accommodate me when I have had sudden mouth pain completely resolving my issue. The doctors and staff are always receptive to my questions. I have had well over 30 cleanings with various hygienist and always come away appreciative of the work they do. I would highly recommend this office to anyone.

Not sure when they update their skills or techniques. I have had difficulty after visits including pain where the Novocaine was injected, and teeth cracking after they drill. Going to change dentists.

I have been going here for 2 years, and have yet to see a dentist. I get my teeth cleaned, but the dentist is never there to check my mouth. They always bill the insurance company, though, for a consultation, as well as the cleaning. Last time I was there I mentioned I am having jaw pain every morning. The young hygienist, of course, said «TMJ, if you’d like to see the dentist, he should be here soon.» Sorry, but I work, and couldn’t wait. The dentist is NEVER there!
I plan on informing the insurance company that they are being billed for nonservice, and speaking to my doctor regarding the jaw pain.
