Beautiful County park. Beautiful walking trail, great fishing. Gives you a sense of the outdoors, a small microcosm of nature in the middle of urban sprawl.

I used to come here as a kid to ride my bike while my dad ran. While on a recent trip visiting my parents, I went here with my wife to run. The park and the trail was a lot more beautiful than I remember. This change in appearance may be real, or it may have been perceived because I was never really a fan of scenic parks and running exercising with my dad as a kid. I was always more interested in video games or getting into trouble with friends. Upon my two most recent trips this past week, the trail was well kept, the scenery was majestic, the park was not crowded, and the running was great. I forgot how much open space there is surrounding Reading and it the space works wonderfully for outdoor activities and exercise. Other things to do at this park include picnic areas, playgrounds, tennis courts, softball fields, and some indoor event type areas. I would highly recommend this place for a great outdoor exercise spot.

Gring’s mill is a very nice park. It’s maintained very well. I typically go on bike rides there. The paths are sort of narrow and suited for walkers, runners, and bikers. Therefore, sometimes you have to give a head’s up for someone to move. They have multiple spots in the park with pavilions and grills. Not sure how you go about renting that.

I grew up with this park… riding my bike to it and then across the Tulpehocken Creek to the trail on the other side. The trail runs to Stonecliff park and beyond to one end and then up toward Blue Marsh Lake to the other. If bike riding or walking the trail is not something you’re looking for, Gring’s Mill is a great place to picnic and just lounge about. When I’m in the area, I always come back here because it brings back memories.

Gring’s Mill is a nice place to go for a walk, have a picnic, or just sit and think. I used to come over here all the time in between classes at Penn State Berks(since it is right across the street). and was dragged here on several occasions for the annual family holiday photo of all of the grandchildren. My favorite thing is standing on the bridge and staring down at the water. There is a bike path that runs through(I believe the Tulpehocken Trail), that also runs north up by the Heritage Center and the covered bridge and south along the river.
