We are a local brewing pub specializing in handcrafted beer. We also offer specialty sodas. We serve a few specialty sandwiches like the delicious cuban-​smoked beef brisket, BBQ pulled pork and a juicy ½ pound hamburger.

History

Established in 2015.

We are a small MicroBrewery nestled right in the heart of Red Bud, Illinois, in a charming 150 year old building. We are named for a local river located just a few miles away that is a popular summer destination for boating, camping, etc. for residents of Southern Illinois. Also, the town of Kaskasia was the first capitol of Illinois and is just under an hour away from our brewery.

Originally, the brewery was started by two brothers — Jared and Derek Kiefer, and later sold to the Lenz Family. Some of the Kiefers’ originals are continuing to be brewed as well as some of Lou Lenz IV’s recipes. He has a variety of beers that are very different from the standard beer varieties found in the St. Louis area.

Business Owner

Lou grew up in Waterloo, IL, another small town just north of Red Bud. He developed a passion for beer, and beer making when he lived abroad in Chile for 10 years. He became so proficient in his skill that he began to sell several types of beer that became increasingly popular in Chile. He ended up moving back to his small town roots and couldn’t imagine letting go of his beer making passion. Plus, his beer is just so good that he wanted to share it with others. The timing was perfect as the previous owners of the Kaskaskia Brewing Company were looking to sell and he was looking for the perfect space to brew and sell his product.
