Family Thrift

I’ve had pretty good experiences with this thrift store. You have to dig but they usually have some high end brands. I bought a burberry dress for $ 2.50 on one of their sale days and a calvin klein dress for $ 4.00. The staff has always been very friendly and knowlegable to me. They are always having great sales. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the store is very small, cluttered, and hard to navigate, and in my opinion the prices on their vintage clothes are a bit high.

I visited this store around the time they had just opened. I’m somewhat of a «thrift store connoisseur», so I was definitely intrigued by the neon signs boasting 50% off of everything in the store. Um, yes please!
Some items were priced a bit high, they obviously know their brand names, but at half off I had no problem with that! The owner told me they have an email list, so I went ahead and signed up.
I received and email advertising a REALLY amazing sale (it was something like all clothing was one dollar!). I printed out the email and headed there just as they had opened. I shopped around and found some great items, but as I went to pay I mentioned that I had an email stating the sale. The cashier looked confused and said he didn’t know what I was talking about, so I showed him the email. He said he hadn’t been told about it and refused to honor the sale.
Obviously, I was a little annoyed that I had made a special trip just to get there for this particular sale, so I wrote an email explaining what had happened. The owner replied and was genuinely apologetic about what had happened. She explained that she was still working out the kinks for this new store and had not properly communicated to her employees. She then offered me ten free items and said to just print out the email and give it to whichever cashier would be working.
SO, I went back to the store a few days after that and before I even began to shop, I explained the email to the woman working behind the counter. She immediately became huffy and eyed me like I was crazy. She told me that the owner had just opened this store and was barely making ends meet (which was innapropriate for her to share), and she didn’t believe that she would give away clothing for free. I nicely explained what had happened, and she rudely pointed out (in front of another customer) that she can’t believe how people just want things for free these days, even when the prices are so low already. I plastered a smile on my face and told her that I had not ASKED for anything free, it was offered to me.
I didn’t NEED those ten free items, but what if I had? That employee made me feel like a greedy fool. I emailed the owner, yet again, and recounted what had happened. I also told her she had lost a customer, which was hard to say because I really do LOVE thrifting. The only reason I gave this place two stars instead of one is because the owner replied to my very last email, twice, and sounded very sincere and VERY sorry.
I understand how difficult it is getting a business started, but a lack of communication doesn’t excuse a RUDE staff.
