Hilton Garden Inn – Redding

My family stays with Hilton on a regular basis in multiple locations. We know we can count on clean rooms and excellent service. We recently encountered a travel conflict and the hotel management was very understanding in addressing our issues. We appreciate Hilton and recommend them without hesitation.

700 miles on a map on the eastern part of the US, would be like from driving from Atlanta to Chicago. Why in the hell would I even want to do that? Jump on a plane and go, right? I mean, we are talking a 24 hour roundtrip, just to drive, assuming traffic doesn’t suck!
When you are looking at the western part of the US, it is a completely different ball game. Hell, besides Cheyenne WY, you are driving 450+ miles from Denver to get to any major city. In California (especially the Bay Area), you are going some distance. But it just doesn’t seem that way until you are doing it.
Long story short, I freaking drove up US 101 700 miles. I took a break, and realized that took about 14 miles of my life. I then realized I need to get the hell back to Oakland, so I can get to work the next day! So, I drove back. The way back, I took I-​5. I didn’t have any more time for sightseeing– I just had to go!
This was one of those «on a whim» trips. I was tired as hell too. I was tired enough that when I pulled over, I knew I wasn’t making that drive all the way through without some nap time. So, I decided to use some newly acquired Hilton points, and book a room here. I was kind of skeptical at first, as I kept hearing around that Redding wasn’t like any other part of California– which I didn’t know how to comprehend, since honestly, California is unlike any other place I have been to stateside, so I knew I was in for a treat, one way or another.
So, for 30,000 Hilton points, I booked a «King River View» room. I didn’t even know what river, but it sounded cool.
I got there right around midnight, and I was just glad I had found a place to sleep other than my rental– since I just pretty much drove 1100 miles in about a 24 hour period. The property looked new and pretty nice– which I have seen some Garden Inns run to the ground it seems.
The person at the front desk was very nice and let me know I was his last check in for the night. I got my room (I forgot the number, but it was on the top floor and on the east side of the building). I got to the room. And pretty much went straight to bed. I couldn’t believe it. I slept like a rock! I was impressed with the room, it was spacious, clean, and quiet.
When I woke up, I looked out the window to catch this river view. I saw what looked like a dried out creek. I mean, «OK»? That was kind of odd. I got cleaned up, and proceeded to head out. When I left and was walking to my car, I finally saw the river they were talking about. I can assure you it was not the dried out creek ditch that I thought it was. That was a relief. I was just wondering why they would say the room I was in had a river view…
If it weren’t for the false advertising I would give this place 5 stars. Other than that, this is the nicest and quietest Garden Inn I have had the pleasure of staying at!

We have been staying at this Hilton Garden for the last 4 years when driving to Southern California for Christmas break. We’ve enjoyed their buffet breakfast and were disappointed this year to find they don’t offer it anymore. The price is still the same ($ 10.95), but everything is made to order. Not really a buffet where you can go up as many times as you like.
The rooms are still clean and beds comfortable. We used hhonrs points for our room and got a great price for our going and return stays. We will probably find a different hotel to stay in next year.

We have stayed at MANY Hilton Garden Inns (HGI). The staff here is very friendly and helpful. We stayed 2 times as we traveled from Central CA to WA and back home. It’s a bit tricky getting to it, but…doable once you get the hang of the roads/​lay out.
It has a welcoming lobby. The standard HGI evening cookies were a bit different here — entire cookie more brown (both visits); it was an uniform brownness — so. . not like it was burned; it was not as moist.
The breakfast is the standard HGI breakfast — custom omlette, juices, and buffet with oatmeal, pastries, fruit, yogurt, etc.
Some river-​view rooms have more of a view than others!
Free WiFi for Hilton Honors guests (with a certain level of stays)
We’ll stay here on future trips.

I was contacted by Greg The manager of the hotel today. After our conversation I feel very good about His efforts in making sure that the Rooms are Adequately cleaned.

Front desk supervisor should focus less on complaining about her computer and Perhaps Greet the customer standing in front of her at the counter, no greeting nothing, even after I purchased something from their store, just rude… asked another desk staff member about the breakfast and it was a «you’ll have to ask kitchen staff, I don’t know «however room was nice, housekeeping staff was very kind and friendly, Overall room was great front desk supervisor. Not so great

Been staying here on the way to Oregon for years. Friendly staff and clean rooms. The restaurant, pool, and gym are average. I do like that they have a little pantry in the lobby for snacks or items you might forget. Nice and close to the freeway, too. Definitely coming back!

I booked a guided fishing trip in Redding and since it started at 0500 on Saturday we decided to book a room for Friday. The Hilton Garden Inn is conveniently located right off the freeway and very easy to find. For $ 90/​night the room was perfect. It was neat, clean, comfy and there was a fridge and Keurig machine in the room.
The lobby was the highlight of the hotel. It was really nicely decorated, clean and accommodating. When we arrived, from afar I could see large water jugs of fruit flavored water. The waiting area was well lit and comfortable. I forgot to bring contact solution but was able to get some at the tiny mini mart next to the check in desk. In the morning (at 4:30am) there was fresh hot coffee with various flavored creamers and teas already set up. Knowing that not everyone can stick around for a cup there were to-​go cups available! Yay! Ice, soda and snack machines are conveniently located in the hallways, staff was friendly and the amenities were all there. I’d stay here again.

This has been a go to hotel for many years when on the road or visiting family. But We won’t be staying here again. The A/​C was so noisy it woke you every time it came on. The shower head could put an eye out and the adjustments were not any better. Their cheap hair dryer could make you deaf and I could stand in a wind storm and do better. I would recommend the restaurant.

The pool is tiny, as is the hot tub. Room is okay. Breakfast is a strange buffet/​waiter hybrid, not to mention, overpriced. I had a measly two scrambled eggs and two small sausage for $ 11. After several visits, we will not be going back again.

Nicely situated in beautiful Redding. Lobby and restaurant are very nice. The rooms are ok, nothing special. The pool is small, the pool and the area around the pool is not very well maintained. Pool was full of leaves and unusable. Used towels linger for days without being picked up. The spa is good size but the air jets don’t always work.

Not impressed. The lobby entry is deceiving compared to the rooms. Old scratchy towels, cracking caulk all around the bathroom. Clearly a budget and maintenance issue. The staff is very accommodating and nice, otherwise I would have given one star.
The beds are much better at the Hampton Inn, Redding, Ca., which is a few dollars more but free and decent breakfast. I won’t stay here again.

Rooms were clean and facility nice… cost per night was high though. Breakfast was expensive for what you got.

My favorite HGI in Cali. It is well taken care of. Feels clean. Every staff member I met was genuinely nice and were all gracious hosts, especially the housekeepers. Thanks Redding team!
Gorgeous view of the river. The gym and pool feel suspended over the riverbank. It was very unexpectedly serene. A «getaway».
Not far from Redding «attractions»; the Sundial, downtown, Oasis Fun Center, the list goes on.

Called twice with no answer and no voicemail.
Came to check in and waited while the person responsible for checking people in gabbed with the gal getting off work. No one acknowledged me for at least 3 minutes… They were looking right at me though…
I asked to put my Hilton honors number on my room and was told I couldn’t because I paid vis Expedia (
). As the other gal left her shift she said, «yes, that’s because they suck».
The girl checking me in was not like any other Hilton personnel I’ve encountered. This was a disappointing experience. After staying at Hilton and searching Hilton because the experience is always great, I’m extremely disappointed.
Some other points:
Breakfast is $ 10.75/person (I don’t think I’ve paid for breakfast ever at a Hilton).
The front desk clerk was rude.
The bed was not adjustable like she explained (king bed– she made a big deal about our disks changing the settings for comfort on our king bed).
The bed was broken too, it was horribly uncomfortable on one side.
My biggest issue with this hotel is: Not friendly and lack of hospitality.
Normally I love Hilton and always stay at them. This one was so disappointing.

No complaints here! I have to say, I ate dinner at the hotel and had one of the best New York steaks I have had in a long long time. Honestly I was very very pleasantly surprised. Yes, I am a points whore and will eat at the hotel to get those extra points and suffer through the gross meal for the extra points, but this one was well worth it. All of the staff were very friendly and courteous and the room was very nice, clean and tidy. Also the hotel is located near the river and I took a Nice walk and enjoyed the river, the sunset, and the beautiful mountain landscape. I will definitely be back!

Stayed there on a recent trip north to Oregon. Long day on the road was met with a snafu (our mistake) with our reservations but the front desk supervisor Tracie was tremendous. She had a great «can-​do» attitude and found a way to accommodate us. She rocks!
Rooms are clean. Bedding and towels were fresh. Breakfast was AWESOME. Wait staff and chef were cheery and helpful with directions. Will def. stay there again!

How can I give this place anything but a FIVE star review. Great rooms, great service. There is a guy in the restaurant that was awesome. They have a pool and the parking was not to bad. My only complaint if anything is that my bed sheets were old, one top cover was bright white and one was like yellow. The doors to the bedrooms also looked really bad, really, what am I writing about? Check it out, the bedroom doors are all scratched and banged up. I have never seen this before and I have been to hundreds of Hilton properties all over the world.

3.5 solid stars. Not in the downtown area — right on the river.
Pool area and hot tub were in great shape and great temperatures.
Room was clean and updated.
Mini-​fridges in room and free wifi and parking.
This is the best hotel I’ve stayed at in Redding.

This is one NICE hotel! On our way from Oregon, this is a nice little place in northern California in a convenient location, easy to find & close to many restaurants. Everything seems squeaky clean or brand new, from the lobby & restaurant area, to the bathroom fixtures.
Just a couple of downsides, miniature pool outside & only 37″ LCD TV. Not sure if this is an upside or downside, but the water pressure is really high. Not even on massage setting, the showerhead is set on borderline «Ouch», where it feels like I’m being pushed across the tub! And something that we can’t live with when we travel, FREE WiFi! First thing I do when we get settled? Unilocal!
Breakfast is not included with the room, but the restaurant has a $ 10.95 breakfast buffet.

Clean rooms. Welcoming staff. The little things make all the difference. Excellent hot breakfast. Fresh-​baked goods at night. Comfortable beds. Highly recommended.
