Kool April Nites

The biggest event in the area. It’s run totally by volunteers and after 25 years they’ve got it pretty well organized. The Friday night parade («The Cruise») is extremely popular with the public and is very well attended.
Several years ago they changed the format by re-​designating their judges as «pickers». Those pickers then «picked» their favorite vehicle in their specific category rather judge on a concourse de elegance point system. In that way they eliminated many of the confrontations that too often occurred between the judges and those car owners who were chasing trophies and it made the event more enjoyable for all those who chose to attend.
If you’re in Redding in the latter part of April put this on your list of things to do. You won’t regret it.
