Redding Dog Park

Love this park. If one wanted to walk, one can walk around inside of fence which is a quarter mile according to my map my walk. Nice people there in the morning and a great place for dogs to learn to socialize with other dogs as well as people. There is a nice large tub for dogs to take a dip in.

This is af must stop on our Bay Area/​Oregon road trips with the dog! It is a decent sized space with mostly attentive owners & playful pups. There is a doggy water fountain and some human chairs. Something to note is there are a lot of unaltered dogs here, which I know is a concern to some but has never been a problem for us.

This is very decent local dog park that separates the big dogs from the little ones. We met some nice folks. It is not the largest or most interesting park, geographically, but provides a good fenced area. We did encounter some aggressive dogs in the larger area. This is a problem with many dog parks. It might be useful for the city to make an Animal Control Officer present periodically to ensure safety. A number of local residents notified us that there were a few well-​known problem dogs/​owners present.

Straightforward cool lil chill spot for the four legged critter to run, stretch the legs and Sniff some ass. Decent open spot with others owners who were all friendly and respectful and managed their pets well.

Decent park. It’s large which is nice but not much there at all. We came here on our way up to Washington from the Bay Area. There were about 6 dogs there which is enough to tire out the the dog. There isn’t enough to keep you interest though.

Love that we have this dog park in redding! A few of the nice features are complimentary bags to pick up after your pup, a watering area for thirsty dogs AND the whole park is fully fenced making it safe in spite of being off a busy street.

In the evening a $ 1 worth of quarters can turn on lights for an hour, near the north gate.
Dual fence entry.
They always seems to be tennis balls in the large dog park area. I just bring a chuck it and hunt for balls to throw. There is plenty of room to throw full out a chuck it in multiple direction.
People and pets here are really nice. Mind the kids and how they interact with other people’s dogs.
There are chairs and shade to sit in while dogs run around
A water fountain for people and large water containers for dogs.
Seems to be plenty of plastic bags to clean up dog messes. Trash cans are also there to throw away the messes.
No food or treats are allowed in the park. This is just not a good idea, unless you are alone.

I love it here and may I say the dog does too. If you’re looking to just be around friendly people, this is the place to be. Every time I’m here I can’t believe how friendly people are– defiantly not the typical Redding norm.
There is two big water troughs– 1 for drinking and the other most dogs just jump in to cool off. There is also a water hose to fill it back up. Lots of grass, trees, and chairs to relax under. Lots and lots of space. My best piece of advice is if there are no dogs when you pull up wait at least 10 minutes and people usually show up.

My dogs loves. the leashless dog park. The area is well finced and devided into a big dog and a small dog area. Well clean and the people and dogs were friendly.

Great stop off point, when we are traveling between Oregon and the Bay Area.

I’ve brought my dogs to this dog park a bunch of times. Haven’t been recently. I think it’s great. they have tons of room to run around and play and they even have a little fenced off area designated for smaller dogs. I have a Shih Tzu & a Siberian Husky. They seem to get along well with everyone. Shih Tzu always wants to sit on everyone’s lap & Husky tries to find an escape route. :) There have been a few instances where there have been some dogs playing «too rough». It’s only a problem when the owners don’t step up and scold their dog and I have too. Awkward. The Benton Dog Park is great though and always clean (as clean as a dog park can be) in my opinion. :)

Good dog park. Nice green grass everywhere and overall a large park, both the small dog side and the big dog side. I like that they have hoses and water basins for dogs to take a dip in. It would be nice if it was a little more developed ie paved cement walkways but I guess that’s more of a city thing.

Everyone was nice, clean, plenty of bags left by other visitors, multiple water bowls on a paved deck, nice shaded area and plenty of chairs

Stopped here on a road trip from OR back to the bay area to let the dog get some well needed rest/​fun from the car.
It was decently busy on a Sunday afternoon with around 20 folks with their dogs.
Event though it is right next to the airport it wasn’t loud. Even watched a few helicopters land and take off.
You can definately tell this park is maintained by it’s regulars. Grocery store plastic bag holders and large rubber drinking tubs.
The best feature we saw, that no other dog park has, was a (storm or sewer) drain right by the faucet. It really keep down the mud.
The people were friendly and of course some didn’t have as much control over their dogs as we would like, but that’s pretty standard.

Stopped here on our roadtrip back to WA with our 6 month dobie. Well worth the stop– a bit off I-​5, but is a park that is well maintained and relatively clean. Read: don’t be afraid to wear sandals. Bring your own poop bags or use the scoopers provided. There was also a fenced area for small dogs. There is shade and benches available. The watering station had a kiddie pool and stainless buckets for watering the pups.

A nice dog park! We stopped on the way up north and found it to be helpful to tire the little guy out (a Schipperke puppy).
The Redding airport borders this dog park and the airport cyclone fence does not reach the ground so chihuahuas and other toy breeds might have a problem with this, but others that are, maybe, 10 lbs and up should be okay. Fortunately? There is asphalt on the other side of the dog park so digging underneath is one less thing to think about. Trust me – I have seen it all since we go to dog parks every day, with an average of 3 – 4 hours each day.
Water, hose, double gated — although one of the gated sections is shared with the big dogs which can be problematic. But, if you can just see it coming? Just wait til other people/​other dogs clear on through and then enter or exit the park. (it is not about intention — it is, sometimes, about being small and concerned about getting hurt, and then the big dogs reacting — and sometimes other things)
This dog park is on the far side of Redding (or is at least through waaay too many lights that waited to turn red just as I got to each light), but is worth the drive.
It has a large «all dog section» and a very nice sized «small dog section» (this was a pleasant surprise since often times little dogs get the short end of the stick when it comes to dog parks, or not represented at all).

This is such a nice dog park with separate sections for large and small breeds. The large dog section is especially nice with trees, hills and benches making for a nice place to let your dog (s) get out some energy.

I’ve been taking my yellow lab pup to work with me for about a month. It kind of puts a crimp on lunch options, but one good option is to take the dog to the Benton Dog Park (that’s the official name) and phone in an order to Señor Rosa’s (I get a «Humm Baby» chicken burrito, the pup gets two $ 1 carne asada tacos) while the pup stretches her legs and mingles with other dogs.
If I were a younger and single man, I would absolutely use the pup to meet chicks. The young lady who was there today with her dog was lovely. Alas, I am not single or young, so the girl was treated to an example of all the «game» that ol’ Buzz can muster at this point:
Her: «Hi.»
Me: «Mmm.»
But the dogs have no use for such April/​October awkwardness. To them, it’s all green grass and chase-​ass. The best part of the day if you’re a dog spending most of your day in your human’s office, I’m sure.

3.5 stars for this nice doggie park in Redding. I was happy to visit in September and find green grass, doggie wading pools and happy well socialized dogs for my puppy to play with. Its not too far off I5 and if you are traveling with your well behaved canine, this is a great place to stop.

At least Redding has ONE dog park. There are several places in town where you can walk your dog, on leash. Here, at the Dog Park, you can let you dog off leash and RUN FREEEEEE. It’s rare to find an unfriendly dog and usually if someone’s not behaving, the owner’s usually remove them right away. There’s water, doggy bags and a few trees. There’s a couple picnic tables to sit at and people have brought plastic chairs and a couple broken down benches.
UPDATE: Now there’s a fenced area in the park for little dogs.
