Fabulous find! It truly is a treasure chest. Be prepared to spend some time, as there are hidden gems everywhere! And Lane & Joe are wonderful to work with; they really know the business, and will work with you to find exactly what you are looking for. They do great repair work, too. Worth a drive from out of town — absolutely the best place for jewelry and unique finds around. Call ahead to make sure they are open.

When my husband and I were looking for my engagement ring, one of our first stops was Village Goldsmith. This place is a dream for those who like eclectic, vintage jewelery and other odds and ends. It’s also one of those shops where it’s hard to tell how much effort went into putting together the display cases – they are jam packed full of stuff in an entirely messy way, but I kind of doubt the the butterflies and beetles that sit amongst the mess just flew in and died there. Fabulous.
While I didn’t end up finding something I liked here in our tiny budget, Village Goldsmith is a great place to stop in if you are looking to pick up a trinket for someone special (someone special who isn’t looking for an eggshell blue box, that is).

I love this store. I found it by chance when I was visiting a shop nearby. It is not like a regular jewelry store. It’s more like a huge treasure chest that has exploded. It has an incredibly ecletic collection of estate jewelry, clocks, watches, pipes, coins, glasses, preserved bugs, and other cool stuff. The owners repair and make custom jewelry, too. They have dishes with all sorts of polished gems just sort of spilling out that you can choose from to create your own unique piece.
