I was referred to Deming & Associates by a friend in the neighborhood, as we had recently moved from the Midwest and couldn’t use our old tax guy. I’m so glad we got connected, I would recommend these folks to family and friends alike. I was audited by the IRS for taking out some of my 401k a few year’s back. I thought I had already paid the taxes on the removed funds and went to Van for a consultation. He looked at my files and told me that I had paid a good portion of the taxes already and that I just needed to fill out the correct forms to include in my petition and he could help with that. Not knowing anything about the process, I handed my files over to him. Several months later he sent me the prepared forms to send to the IRS. I gladly paid for his services trusting that he was the expert and thinking he would ultimately be saving me thousands.
Fast forward 6 months later… I get a notice from the IRS saying the petition prepared by Van doesn’t show that I paid any of the taxes upfront, that I still owe several thousand dollars to them AND I owe several hundred dollars more in interest for the time it took Van to prepare the documents for me.
Interest for time to prepare documents + what I paid to have the documents prepared=roughly $ 500. I should have just paid what the IRS said I owed initially, and saved myself $ 500.

Been going here for 5+ years, and have always had a good experience. Deming is great at what he does — and he consistently saves me $ on my tax returns and saves me the headache. Office staff and Van himself have always been nice, respectful and accommodating.
