Eastside Gym

After researching gyms in the Kirkland, Redmond, Totem Lake area, I stumbled upon this jewel. For many years I was a patron of the 24 hour fitness chain however, I got tired of the ‘peak’ hours at the gym which meant no parking spots, no free machines, and I got tired of having sales people constantly trying to sell me expensive packages.
I walked into Eastside Gym a month ago and was greeted with a hearty handshake from Lonny the owner and I haven’t looked back. The facility is clean and stocked with weights and cardio machines, costs are cheap, patrons are friendly, personal training is available, and there is ample parking to be found.

Dropped in for a workout, Lonny the owner was super nice. Nice to have serious weightlifting equipment. Very nice variety of bars and weights. Super stoked that it had chalk too.

I like this gym. The pricing is good and they have a good variety of equipment.

Greatest sign up process. From tour to sign up took 10 minutes. Lonnie was great and even knew the owner at my previous gym even though it wasn’t in this county. Equipment for dollar value is the best I’ve ever seen. Pretty excited to call this gym home for the next year!

If you’re a lifter living on the eastside, you gotta check this place out…
Three squat racks+a squat stand, plenty of benches, a deadlift jack, chains, resistance bands, bumper plates, loads of (older) dumbells, various machines…
Fellow members are super friendly and always willing to spot, take advice/​give advice and the owner, Lonny, is there a majority of the time (and super helpful as well).
There really aren’t any down falls to this gym if you’re looking for an affordable place to LIFT. There’s plenty of cardio equipment as well, but I definitely wouldn’t compare Eastside to any of your usual fitness clubs (it’s better:))

Great gym for people that want to lift weights. Nice friendly crowd and the owner Lonnie is helpful. No silly sales tactics. You buy 3,6 or 12 months. No joining fees. Well equipped for building muscle and getting into shape.

Eastside has everything that I could ever need in a gym. It is EXTREMELY affordable and is a great environment to train in. The owner and other managers are very friendly and don’t try to pressure customers into purchasing memberships.
I go during the work week around 5pm or 6pm. Usually, at other chain gyms, there are long waits for equipment, but there is never usually a wait at Eastside. Most people are very friendly, so if you ever need to work in with someone, there are usually no problems.

I have belonged to Eastside for just about a year. The owner Lonny is great. I tend to workout very early hours of the morning and was provided a key to access the gym if Henry isn’t in yet. Being able to open the doors myself at 4:30AM is awesome, especially when it’s been hot out the day before. It’s nice to get some air moving in there. There’s never a wait for equipment early in the morning.
The selection of equipment is perfect. They have a massive amount of free weights, two squat racks and dumbbells that go to 150lbs each. I love that you can pull 500+LB deadlifts or farmer walk with the 150lb dumbbells and not have people look at you like you’re crazy! If needed, other members or Lonny are always wiling to help with a spot!
The atmosphere is the best of any gym I’ve been to. Nothing like the large chain places that only want to sell you training packages and have their members more concerned with flexing in the mirror or talking than actually lifting weights.
The cost simply can’t be beat. Pre-​pay for a year is the way to go.

Right! I called this place this morning and asked a few questions! The owner was the guy who answered and was so helpful so kind and such a great guy!
My mom the day was adopting a cat so I didn’t get to the gym at 6pm! I walk in and the owner is there and so welcoming he says «Oh… thought you were going to be here in the afternoon we close at 6 pm … but don’t worry bout it I would love to have you work out and take your time! Ive got some stuff i can do!!» WOW!!! SOOOOOOOOOOOOO AMAZING! I have been a regional manager, and some big roles in customer service andI have never had customer service like he had! WOWZERS!

I visited this gym based on the great reviews I read. My wife and I joined on the same day. No hassle, no upsell and awesome pricing. The owner, Lonny, is always there and is very friendly.
The gym has a substantial amount of free and machine weights along with enough cardio machines. I can get in and complete a workout with no waiting whatsoever.
If you are looking for a great value gym to get a full work out in, its for you.

This is a great gym — it’s by far the least expensive around, and there’s no sales pitches like at other gyms, and no upsells. Lonny, the owner, is there most of the time and is friendly and fun to talk to, and overall the gym just feels like a second home. There are plenty of free weights and cardio machines. It’s easy to get to and park at, and it’s 24 hours (I think you have to do the 6-​month plan to get a key, but I forget. Anyway it’s totally worth it). I highly recommend Eastside Gym.

This place is fantastic! After years at 24 Hour Fitness and LA Fitness – both Downtown Bellevue & Downtown Seattle, I am very happy to have finally found a no-​nonsense gym that caters to average Joes like me. The owner, Lonnie, himself a power-​lifter, was immediately welcoming (and thankfully nonjudgmental) when I toured. The space is inside a warehouse, with very tall ceilings & garage doors that open to the outside on warm afternoons. The locker rooms are older, but adequate. Although I’m admittedly a gym neophyte, I have a personal trainer at Eastside and we’ve never found the equipment lacking. The space is popular – and for good reasons – during the early mornings and mid-​late afternoons, but even then I’ve usually been able to find what I need.
Eastside gym is a well equipped but no-​frills establishment – just what I was looking for. People of all ages and backgrounds use the space & you get the sense that everyone is serious about their health regimen. There’s none of the condescension or superciliousness that pervades other athletic facilities I’ve belonged to on the Eastside & Downtown Seattle. And although I confess to feeling at times intimidated by the Hercules squatting next to me or the Xena bench pressing across the way from me, I’ve never gotten the sense that as a beginner I wasn’t welcome at Eastside. Plus, Lonnie, always friendly and encouraging – you get the sense he’s actually rooting for you on your regimen – introduced me to my personal trainer whom I plan to be with for at least the next year.
The only criticism I have of the Eastside Gym is that it gets very warm during the summer, starting in the late morning and building through the afternoon until the sun sets. But for the price – about $ 200 for an entire year’s membership, with 24-​hour access! – the deal is unmatched. And by the way, Lonnie has never been a hard sell; he’s confident his establishment is among the best of its kind in all of King County. And I have to say I agree with him.

I’ve worked out at Eastside Gym since ’07. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, there is always plenty of equipment available, and you simply cannot beat the price! There is a unique sense of community at Eastside Gym, not found at the big «chain» gyms. I wouldn’t go anywhere else!

I exercised at Eastside Gym while I was on a trip in Redmond and I loved it.
The owner is incredibly sociable, the membership prices are fair, the equipment is solid, and the gym’s great atmosphere gets you extra motivated.
When I was there they offered day passes for only $ 5 so it’s definitely worth a try for anybody looking for a gym in that area.

It’s a very basic gym, but the prices can’t be beat and there’s no big sales pitch when you sign up. I only wanted to go for 3 months when I first tried it out, and the owner didn’t try to upsell me. That has never happened at any gym, ever! I signed on for another 6 months before moving out of Redmond. I didn’t get any pressure to continue membership when I left, just well wishes.

I have been going to this gym for a little over a month now. If you are looking for a great place to work out, Eastside Gym is the place. It has the equipment you need and none of the fluff that Golds or 24 Hour fitness has. The owner doesn’t do contracts, he only ask they you prepay for either 3, 6, or 12 months. So far it has been well worth it.

In town on business for a few days, the hotel gym was crap but I wanted to work out. I found this place on Google. Walked in, signed a waiver, paid a few bucks and ran 5 km. Super easy.

I just started going to this gym about a month ago and I LOVE IT!!! It is way less expensive than other gyms, especially if you pre-​pay for the whole year, and I just love the fact that people simply go there to work out. Not to look at themselves in the mirror, not to shop for a boyfriend or girlfriend, not to stand around and talk… it is just the perfect mix of serious athletes, casual cardio, cross-​fit techniques, and sweet tunes. So glad my boyfriend introduced me to this place. The owner is awesome, too. Very friendly and helpful!

The Eastside gym is great for those of us that want to get in, work out, and get out. There is never any problems with Parking, no waits for equipment, and the managers are awesome and just kinda hang out around the gym; very friendly. They have a ton of free weights and good equipment to get in shape and stay that way. The Price is the most attractive part, I paid around 70 $ for 3 months!
The only drawback is that there is no real amenities other than 2 small locker rooms. If your looking for a good gym to lift and tone then this is your place. Again, it is never too crowded which is a huge sell point for me.
