Harmony Music Studio customizes music therapy sessions and piano lessons for children with unique needs such as autism, developmental and speech delay.

Music is unique as it accesses all areas of the brain. The properties of music as used in music therapy captivate, stimulate and create lasting therapeutic change in children with unique needs such as autism. ‘

Piano lessons encourage cognitive reasoning skills and attention. Making music engages multiple areas of the brain at once. Piano lessons also help create a bridge to opportunities such as talent shows or music ensembles.

History

Established in 2010.

Anne Carslon MT-​BC, NMT Fellow, founded Harmony Music Studio in 2010. The philosophy of Harmony Music Studio is that a child is a child first, not diagnoses. While working for state facilities for individuals with developmental disabilities, Anne found a passion to help people succeed in our communities. She founded Harmony Music Studio with the belief that all children have a right to music and to thrive. Personalized music therapy sessions provided by a Board Certified Music Therapist, Neurological Music Therapy Fellow specializing in autism, speech and developmental delay.

Music sessions are facilitated by Anne Carlson, Board Certified Music Therapist, and Neurological Music Therapy Fellow: Specializing in Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, CP, Downs syndrome, ASD, Speech Delay and PDDNOS. She earned a BFA in music from Lewis and Clark College and a BA in Music Therapy from Marylhurst University. She completed her Neurological Music Therapy (NMT) Fellowship with Colorado State University.
